I think I wasted about 20 hours of my life trying to get those 60 medals. ;D But it's very possible.
TIPS:
Shoulder Weapons Medal: You have to actually unequipped your main weapon to get this.
Side Missions: To get higher stars, try destroying everything and as fast as possible.
Survival Waves: Homing missiles work best for these.
Gold Stars for Time: Get the fastest legs and don't battle anything but the bosses.

so basically....if you do AMAZINGLY good on "time" in a story level, the most you can get is bronze? really stupid medal system you got there

i got several of the enemy kill trophies after i killed the wrong tyep of enemy. for example: killed a heli-copter, got the demolition medal. killed a tank, got the AA gunner medal. weird.

the diagonal movement is probably a glitch, and your keyboard beeping is because you're pressing too many keys at a time

Excellent game, still going for the last achievement, but it's been awhile since I liked a game so much that I actually lose track of an hour or two playing it.

i can move diagonnally down but not up? I dont remember this problem on the first one. gets pretty frustating having my keybord keep beeping at me

easiest way to get gold stars on time is spider legs + nuke. I prefer a vulcan with this to help make clearing a path easy if needed.

If you look in the chat room area, and select ACHIEVEMENT > View High Scores, you can select kills and under "friends" see how many you have.
