Sticking with traditional hit indicators (blinking objects) would make the game a lot more playable if not as unique (unique does not mean good!). The ball is invisible behind smoke and blood way too often letting the ball just fly out any which way and often enough to lose the ball (at least from that portion of the table).

Another "Whoa calm down on the effects" vote here. There's just wayyyy too much smoke and splatters and crap going on, you can't see a anything that's actually going on as ball mechanics half the time. I found myself just randomly flapping flippers and hoping. Also, you may want to tone down the bumper speed a bit. When the ball hits a bumper and shoots across the entire screen in like .04 seconds you really aren't so much controlling what's up anymore as hoping you can intercept the damn thing if you can even see it. Visually impressive, cool idea, but needs to be chilled out a bit.
