is there a benefit to completing missions? I remember having a train plan when I restarted but it changed so I could complete missions but it never seemed to pay off one way or the other

It is a shame that the creator of this game has not updated for almost a month. There was a lot of potential here. I would have preferred the upgrades to have been wheel sizes and arrangements, starting with 0-2-2 (as used in Stephenson's Rocket), with other upgrades being added to affect the various wagons and stations.
As I mentioned a while ago, I have way too much to do in RL now. So there is just no time left for this project here. I have a lot of work to do during spring/summer.

It was a good game. But now it appears it's dead. The coffee and burger cars no longer sell to customers. There's nothing to do beyond buy cars, upgrade, rebuild, repeat. Over and over again. Too bad. A really good game with potential. So sad to see it die.

I don't like the fact that at very high power values, you're unable to ever reach top speed, due to abysmal acceleration returns on power values.

I dunno if this has been brought up yet but I believe there is a mistake with the name of the passenger wagon 3rd class. In game it reads "nger Wagon 3rd ClassClass"

If my train is goin around 70 km/h, I arrive at the station before the train stopped and i have to wait for a couple of seconds for the rain to brake down to zero

Actually it would be cool if you could launch some kind of a company and when you have finished the missions you'll get new missions and if necessary you can sell the old wagons or store them in your garage and buy new wagons for the other missions.

Do passengers no longer buy coffee? What's the point of buying the coffee car if that's the case? The reduction in drag isn't worth it.

I like the idea of this game very much, but there is a lot of room for improvement.While the core of creating a train with some decent strategy behind it feels like an improvement when compared to many other idle games where you just stupidly upgrade stuff, the game still is way too empty. Missions are really bad. They are boring and I didn't even notice if there is any reward at all. There is also all that kind of information that doesn't really influence the game, like the type of fuel you are using. It's also disappointing that you don't get any progress while being offline. You should include some kind of 'bonus tick' system with which you can accelerate the game after coming back online.

I really enjoy this one so far. I would really think the early game would benefit from some more ways to gain resources. Maybe the shooting stars could be collected? Perhaps clicking on ore and fossils and other things i.e. (worms from "Tremors" films ?!?) as I have found getting started is somewhat slow. :D

cargo weighs nothing (!)
mission rewards are worthless
reward for unused tokens(starting gold) is worthless.
-currently, it is best not to use most carts at all
-players need more info+feedback from the game
to experiment and optimize.
Thats what idle games are about.
-> need to show gold/min stat
-> need to show xp/min stat
-> need to be able to sell/buy carts during run
-> need info on carts abilities (what benefit at what upgrade levels)
-> need info on next token reward stage (cash on hand/miles traveled during run)
-> need *rebuild* info/option right away

Responding to dev: You have in-game time and in-game speed yet all distances are "translated" to product of real time and in-game speed. Why? What would be so strange in having also in-game distance? Mixing in-game and real world parameters without explanation or reason is just strange. Seeing that your train travels 20 km/h and seeing that next station is 30 km away you can easily understand how long it will take by looking at in-game time and how fast it goes. Right now it's impossible as it suddenly mixes things up and is rather pointless.
Now one got me...
I expected that question since the day I made those wheels.

There's one thing that bothers me: above yellow bar there is a total distance covered (?) and speed. In top right corner there is in-game time. The thing is, numbers don't add up at all - after whole in-game day with steady 20 km/h + on average I have 11 km of total distance travelled.
But otherwise - looks very promising, we will watch your career with great interest
Yeas that does not really add up. But how could it? In game time is much faster than RL time.
If the train speed would be synced to the same time I bet it woudl look kinda "funny".
However, the train speed should kinda much RL time. At least to a degree.
I had to make some compromises there since it is a game at the end of the day.

I played idle train 1 - your skills have improved *dramatically* I look forward to future updates and to see what you accomplish in the coming years. I'd like to see more numbers. I like watching numbers get BIGGER. I need MORE, BIGGER NUMBERS! ;)
Yeah, Idle train 1 was kinda let´s say not that good. Sadly updates will by rare for now since RL takes more time.
And in a few months, I plan to start a new project. It takes some of the mechanics from Idle train 2 in a space setting. Instead of a train, you build a Fleet with different spaces ships.
But that will rather be released on Kartridge (kongs upcoming download platform) since I always struggle with the bloody web-gl.

up to cap 65. progression through the game seems a bit odd. it seems there's no way i can earn more than 13 tokens per run. 3 for miles, 3 for cash and 7 for number of trains. fastest way to progress seems to be running the best combo of engine and tender without carts (max 1 ore after all upgrades are in) to get the distance max. continue to earn with 1 or max two wagons to get the gold - more wagons earns slower. once there is enough cash and money/distace is maxed (3) buy the remaining 5-6 carts, reset with 13. buy the next best combo, repeat until you're ready for the next cap upgrade, start over from top, perhaps with a better starting combo. Thing is, I'm not really using any of the carts, playing with the passenger thingy or making use of missions. just running naked train+tender 90% of the time.
Yeah, the thing is, I´m way behind my time plan. By now the game was supposed to have way more content. The bloody save game issue took a lot of time. Beside more /better locomotives+ tenders and wagons there should already be several new systems that are planned but yet not programmed. Like a shop for global upgrades that brings more gold + XP and accelerates progression. And also a "socket system" that allows putting 3 tuning orbs in wagons. Same goes for wagons that allows playing mini-games and so on.
Yet the game is still not saving for some and now I have way less time to work on it since RL is more time consuming now. And that will last for several months.

The amount of passengers you receive Is not consistent with the reply in the top comments. "Every time you visit a station you get a random amount of passengers between 1+Wagonlevel -> max passengers." I have 2 passenger wagons 3rd class(lv8) and 2nd class(lv7) And the text box told me 0 passengers entered one of the wagons, and 2 entered the other. This implies that its totally random from 0 -> max

Any Fix for the Station Range? Again, Run over night, and get Range from 4 deliveris 1.8km, 1.84km, 1.79km, 1.82km. Close Browser and Open Browser and Game (completly without rebuild), Range is set back to 1.2km, 1.18km, 1.22km, 1.24km. Another point, when reaching 1 Million Gold, it display 10 Mio and give only 1 Steamcoins at rebuild, pay for waggons to get under 1 Million give 3 Steamcoins.
I see, I missed to save a value there. And I never testet that high money values since I never came that far. But I see my misstake now as you mention it. I´ll fix it later today. Thanks for the report.
Edit: The money thing will be fixed by today. The distance Issue will stay for now.
I don´t like to do changes to the save game right now since I don´t have much time at hand.
