It's really trial and error and on top of that, it is random every time you start a new 'generate animation' evolution line.
The main issue is that there aren't proper joints and the sim doesn't know how to use limbs properly. There are alot of things that aren't perfect about it, but it definetly deserves a sequel with upgraded capabilities.

Very interesting program here - been playing it on and off all day now. But I really wish there was some additional documentation... clearly not only muscles can be moved, but it's not clear to me exactly what the creature can do? Seems to rotate the nodes.. even elongate the bones at times. I had two elongated-triangle arms on each side of a square body, entire thing made of bones, and the thing planted the node at the point of a triangle on the ground and *pushed* itself to the right, extending the two bones to twice their length in doing so. So.. kind of wish I knew what it was capable of moving :)

@John: The real problem is that there aren't any proper joints, so legs just don't work very well. Also the program seems to have problems learning how to use a limb properly.

I try to create legs for my creatures, but if I use only muscle on the leg it cannot support the torso, and if I add bone the leg remains stiff. Help?

hey guys check this bone wheel out it goes over 200 px/s depending on how good or bad ure comp runs it has no muscels at all http://www.kongregate.com/games/BryceSummer/walkinator?creature=334493

If any1 needs to make a simple wheel all you do is make a circle of nodes with 1 in the center, and connect all of them to the 1st and 2nd 1 their next to and connect center to all

What does it mean when a node turns red? I think it just means that it is in 'contact' with the ground and is the active limb or something.

lol! Check out this creature, it drives it's foot straight through the ground and then it's entire leg, this is with double stability.
