Description

This is a turn-based strategy game similar to Risk. Maps are randomly generated.

Also available on iPhone (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ssg-simple-strategy-game/id992601218?mt=8&uo=4) and Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.tatupec.ssg)

How to Play

-- Each map is divided into territories. You win if you control them all.

-- Loses during battle are 1 for 1 (one attacking unit is lost for each defending unit.)

-- At the end of each player's turn they earn 1 unit for each territory they own.

-- New units are placed on territories that border enemy territories first.

-- There is a max of 10 units per territory.

Not bad, if you can set up a "beachhead", but some maps are just unwinable; thankfully, you're not stuck playing out a losing war. 4/5

I think the biggest flaw in honorable mode is that NPCs only attack the player with the highest territories. It would be better if they attacked anyone with more than 6 territories, with priority going to the player with the highest number. That way they still gang up on you, but they also seek to establish balance amongst themselves.

I think I've figured out why I like this game so much. It's because, in one particular way, it's more realistic than other Risk sort of games out there, such as Warlight. Once you have armies in your rear territories, they're basically stuck there--unless the enemy breaches your forward territories, in which case it's like a balloon popping. Suddenly your 10 armies burst out, overwhelming the weak enemies that dared annoy them. There's something realistic about it. Because enemies often end up with armies behind their front, you have to be careful as to when you attack--so as to not provoke your foe too early. And THAT, I believe, is what I find compelling about this game--because that's often how it is in reality. A fight is often not homogenous, as the foe is often splintered.

Why not let the human player pick his color after the territories are divided up?
