One of the better strategy games I've played, the artwork is simple yet intriguing, and the chance of armies fleeing really adds a challenge to committing to strategies, but I found this game very enjoyable, and gives insight to the battle of the hastings. Overall 10/10

Lol its so easy to just get all archers and just annihilate your opponent thats waiting for you to move while your archer army are just mowing down the enemy.

last campaign mission on normal did a boar snout and was gonna attack an all spear militia shield wall when the tip of the snout unit stayed still while the sides kept on going forward. forever.

Enemy started retreating, my archers at the ready.
"Men, just dump your arrows somewhere, we don't need them. We've won the day."
yeah well they fired it into the retreating enemies

So I move my unit to the enemies rear, thus completing my envelopment, but not only do I not get any bonuses, the unit in the rear doesn't bother to attack. Seems once they have passed an enemy, they have won the race, cept its not a race and were dying while you guys smoke your pipes and laugh at the units behind you fighting. A Fatal flaw to what might actually be, what many reviewers say, is a great game.

Doctor Jonathan I understand and agree, it's really weird. It even says that taunts give a "morale boost," but instead lowers enemy morale. Taunting should instead be a thing where you rejuvenate a shaken unit.

Just finished the game on hard. Some tips for anyone having trouble: | | | | | 1. the enemy's taunts are unfair, and will typically do a lot more damage to your morale than you can do to theirs - you'll need to have a lot of taunters early on to keep them from gaining the advantage, using sheer quantity of taunts to make the numbers match up. | | | | | 2. The game typically gives you a pretty solid force composition. Tweaking it probably isn't a good idea unless you really know what you're doing. | | | | | 3. The best way to defeat an enemy is to charge them repeatedly, cycling two units. Have one retreat and the other charge on every turn. This is the most effective way to break enemy formations.

Getting a bug - archers just shoot as soon as i go to angle, often when angling it wont actually allow me to then add power and immediately tells me its a failed shot. gave up pretty quick

1066 is awesome. I've played this game since it was released. Wish this developer would use this same format for other historical battles. If this ever gets ported to mobile, I'll be playing it all day.

I always lose because of taunt. Normal difficulty, almost all the fights i win. the difference in solder number grows in my favor, the enemy taunting with 1 unit i taunt with 3 still losing because of morale. I am sure its my fault, but i had to rate this game low, i simply dont know how to counter this usually brutal taunts from enemy.

Little jimmy in the battle field screaming "Big head doodie face" scaring half of the Full grown 6 feet men muscles that are 6 inches high with an Axe, army away.

to 5947- i dont see it, for me, they get poor, i loose 1-2 points, i get great taunt and plus 1-2, it is auctually a LITTLE unfair, but..... not THAT bad.

the problem for me was that the last battle took forever because it was the king and one knight, 3 archers. that knight died immediately so i had to hope he didn't dodge my arrows.
