A few notes on skills: You can pick any lock in the game with a security skill of 35. You will get +5 from skillbooks with 35 in smarts; you'll need to go all the way to 70 to get +6---it's just not worth it. Fitness is not worth leveling at all, you'll get enough points from books to be able to run through an entire level by the end of the game, which is the only time it is useful. Survival is surprisingly effective at increasing the benefit from food, but it's only really worth it if you're doing hard mode, and even then, you'll probably get a LOT of points from books. I can't say that the damage reduction works at this point. Medical skill makes a big difference in how well items heal you: 40-50 will make bandages heal over a hundred HP.

Dying mechanic sucks for me. I managed to die and lose XP from resurrect, also die and lose XP from resurrect AND my companion (he was down, I was fighting zombies, probably died - and instead of seeing menu and really clicking either choice, I was suddenly outside, without my companion).
I can never help my companion when he's down, stretching his hand towards me (G does nothing, there is no 'active use area' indication), so I usually have to fully reload the game page, as there is no "load" option.

This game is ****ing awesome the best zombie game ever except that there's only 2 companions but besides that this game is awesome!!!

Solid mechanics and a nice long game. Definitely play it on "Survival" because I still had plenty of ammo, and the hunger and sleep add a much-needed layer of depth to the gameplay.

as some one who has loved your orig last stand games....dev....wtf? this is an embarrassment to your prior works story is iffy at best and the game play is leaving much to be desired a good concept that you dropped the ball on mate. as i play through i feel more like a beta tester.

every one needs to stop complaining its the first of the last stand series where u make ur own character an walk around its the first one so its usaly a little slippy but the next one will be amazing i know it!

Loved the game, but still... dev could give it a little more love. It feels like un-tested a lot, unpolished, and while it is so much fun some of the bugs are just hard to forgive. I just can't get over the buggy hit-and-miss system! Game told me I'm a master at long guns, yet I can't hit zombie's head from 2 meters... Well, what, my scoped sniper rifle is intended for long-range only? Ok, so how about I cant hit a dog, that is about to chew on my shoes with mp4? Another thing is loudness of weapons. While idea is wonderful, its application is non-existant. No mater, how quiet you'll be, horde will find you and attack anyways. And you can't outrun it, it'll teleport after you. So why be sneaky? Use the SAW, one of these 50 bullets have to hit, it's only 3 meters away...

Who needs guns? I just have a very high blade lvl and a katana and I slice and dice trough hordes of zombies without ammo or help from my partner!

I don't like how if your partner goes down next to an exit, they can't be resurrected or helped up. i mean. i lost all my partners because i walked into a room with zombies at the start and suddenly ambushed by a group of those zombies that come from the roof. they don't move when they sense danger which just annoys the hell out of me and i never can seem to hit any thing. i mean my long rifle skill is 109 and i am aiming at a zombie point blank but miss 5 times? Wth is up with that? but other wise an ok game. hard as hell without your partner so don't let them go down or die =D unless you want to be cursing at the comp like i was lol

I did not like it very much. I haven't played it for long, so I can't say I've given it a fair chance, but i find myself going back to the previous games. (PS. I've never played Dead Island but it still reminds me of that game)

I'm at the stadium and about to jump in bed with my wife, the black girl from the beginning and Barry. I think I'll give this one 10 hours. Zombie pimp - high five! P.S. should probably take my radiation mask off for this one.

here's something i find pretty lame
it says in the instructions that you can save your companion by pressing G
well, i tired that a couple of times, but it doesn't work
when they're down, they're already dead

When playing as a female, there's a dialog problem that causes some characters to refer to her male spouse as a women, usually saying "she" instead of "he." First noticed it at the survivor camp, but it may pop up at other places.

How come I can't save my companions? There's not even a prompt, and I just have leave them lying there, hand outstretched, lonely and cold, stabbed in the back and left to die.

Roughly every half hour or so, my main character goes into some kind of a stupor. He can turn but he has no forward or lateral movement, he aims or theatens with his weapon but cannot use it. There have been several occasions where he has returned to normal after a few minutes, but many other occasions where the zombies got there first.....not something that those with a weak stomach would care to witness. Health is fine, that’s not the problem. I've not seen this mentioned by anyone else and I can’t imagine this being a part of the game play, so perhaps the problem is on my end. Still, a very very good game.
Thanks

Before you raise anything else, raise your smarts until all the books give you +7 (Maybe around 80 or 90 smarts, +7 is max you can get). Hold on to all the books you find until you get your smarts that high and then read your books to maximize your skill points.

Rated highly - two issues to note: 1) game mentions that smarts helps with trade, but every pawn shop I went to said no trade, cash only. 2) lags VERY heavily when around baddies - very much the opposite of what I need to stay alive. Thanks!
