I like 'em cap ships. If you can afford the 3k energy up front, a single annihilator will wipe pretty much any map that doesn't kill its starport before it finishes construction. More affordably, the super carrier is almost as powerful do its short build time and massive fighter swarms, so with some backup cruisers and/or gunships, they can pack one heck of a good offense. Much better than a swarm of re-purposed miners. The miners do get you energy though, which is rediculously awesome. Miners+physics labs+OTHER SHIPS ftw. Miners by themselves have a hard time overpowering any decent enemy. Sometimes they actually can't. In terms of energy output though, while miners are good early on reactors are still better long term in most situations.

Totally Addicted! But I think the difficulty could use some balancing. First time, the early levels were cake, and then I hit a wall. Second time, early levels were rough, now I'm breezing through, as I'm finding fewer levels have heat and static on them. Also, even with 3 large energy generators, I find it's hard to build the capital ships, or even medium ones. With a dozen light ships, I don't even need them half the time. Not sure the best way to balance, but seems like it could use some. Crazy fun to play!

good game but one serious bug. i couldn't beat a lvl 100 map while i had beaten all 3 kinds of ememies. hope that will be fixed.

for the duels where you are right next to your opponent, use a singularity turret, it destroys their main construction base in the first shot!

Needs some sort of enemy information screen. I have no idea what they are shooting at me and what counters to use. A tool tip would be ideal.

It would be nice to have a means of holding back a large force of ships and then releasing them all at once. It would add a greater element of strategy, instead of simple overproduction

How to win any level:
Rapidly construct 3 missile racks with beam cannons right behind them.
Add mirror shields.
Spam miners and freeze drones.
Build constructors and generators to taste.

There are a few levels where I max out the screen in ships, but there is fighting happening on the side of the screen. The game never ends. What's up with that? I want to beat the game, but I can't.

I really liked the game but there is a major flaw in the defense match. One can simply build three or four repair turrets and ignore the damage of the first wave while collecting a ridiculous amount of power without installing any weapons that could destroy the attackers. Once one has enough power, one can easily build an indestructible fort.
An easy solution would be to make the incoming waves be delayed by a timer.

Here's two little strategies from me (both a little hack-y unfortunately).
1. (requires Mining Ship and Physics Lab) Make few Mining Ship Bay (8-12), then few Physics Lab (5-7 should be enough) -> transition into whatever you like (maybe some defences here and there, depending on playstyle). Mass Mining Ship boosts energy like CRAZY (especially on asteroid maps).
2. (for Defence maps) Enemies will come in waves. First 2-3 waves are pretty weak (3-5 fighters). Build one shitty tower to destroy all but one fighters, then salvage turret immediately. Now - keep this fighter alive (it's harmless, regeneration/healing tower helps here) and turn the level to your playground :)
Very cool game, I love those space resources/combat gems. 5/5

Easy game, just zerg with interceptors, you can beat every level with a horde of interceptors, but great game anyways, waiting for the third!

Most answers are in the top comments section but just to re-literate things here is what I know / presume: Black holes = Timed mission, big mass of dear mother of god what is that, only way to beat is to destroy your rival asap | Infection blobs = Great method mentioned in the top comments that does work and that is to spam the weaker ships (bombers, interceptors and gunships) in combination with high energy gain, turrets with long range can be used if needed | Pause and build is effective | Try combining status effect with each other such as freeze and acid | The carrier ships are a great weapon to use, but also mix things up a bit, for example using siege ships (1 hitters because of black hole weaponry) and do not under estimate bomber capability.

mission flank, it keeps throwing a black hole so i loose. How do i defend against it?? no fun if you dont know how to beat something whilst you are beating the enemy..

... which leads directly to the question, what constitutes _victory_ on skirmish? I just won that skirmish even faster, with both opponent bases still active.

Finished a level, no enemies in sight... had to surrender to end it though. Wouldn't accept my awesome swarm tactics of brilliance.

if having trouble build blackhole turrets next to enemy base with constructor at the beginning if you do not have them yet use large missle bay

Follow my guide and you won't have any more issues with any map. For infested just keep your walls up and double turrets behind... You will be fine. If the game was called "Carriers Obliterate Everything 2" then people would be complaining on how the player is overpowered rather than the infested :).

Walls trump shield, just pause and rebuild them. Easy. Skip Bio Lab. The Psychics lab can be harmful if more than one because of chain reaction. Use constructor instead and simply grow larger. This will also allow you to loose your base and continue to build. Nifty.
