Under rating threshold (show) So far, seems like an intriguing game. It's nice to not have to grind incessantly to make progress. Only thing I've noticed so far for features is that it'd be nice to have a "back" button in certain areas. For example, when in the debate screen of a bill, if you go to analyze a different player's stats, there is no quick way to close the screen and get back to the bill. You have to go back to the bills list and find the correct bill again. Repeat multiple times if you want to look at multiple player's stats.

Thanks for the feedback and support! Hitting back in your browser should send you back a page in the game. I've made sure that the game is capable of handling this properly. Some browsers won't really do this by default with how the game is framed within Kongregate, but you should be able to right click on the game and find some sort of "this frame->back" option. Let me know if you have any problems with this feature!

Under rating threshold (show) Okay I really get only two times to use a computer and those times I have work to do. I think if you could you should try to make a mobile for the kongregate arcade. I think I'm not alone in having more opportunities to play it on my droid than on my PC. Just sayin'.

Thanks for the feedback! Looks like i'll have to step up the timetable for the mobile version. I'm getting a ton of requests for it lately. Also, it's kind of a roundabout and crappy solution, but if you go to the kong main site on mobile and scroll all the way to the bottom you can get the normal Kong site and play the game via your phone. Of course the interface isn't exactly optimized for that screen size, so it's not the easiest way to play. As I said, mobile version in the works. Sorry for the delay.

Under rating threshold (show) Cool game, but it would be great if negative energy would regenerate bit faster as it's boring to wait (I think) 5 minutes for 1 energy to regenerate until I can play again. Other than that, good concept and well made ;)

+ - !

(-1)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks for the feedback and support! You definitely aren't the only one that thinks so, and I previously increased the energy regen rate by 20% based on player feedback like yours on Kongregate. However, it would significantly alter the game if I sped it up even more. If you want to read the long-winded explanation as to why, check the FAQ in-game (under Help). Ideally you just only pass out once when you're a newbie, and that's designed to hopefully get people to read the help files as the game is pretty complex and you'll be at a disadvantage if you don't :)

Under rating threshold (show) Why are there people opposing the Idea of paying down the National debt? Like, what harm could that do?

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

In order to pay down the national debt, the government has to free up actual money. This means cutting spending. In game terms, this means the bill slightly reduces all other positive aspects of the nation (GDP Growth, Public Health, etc) in order to also reduce the debt by a sizable amount. Why these people might be opposing your bill in particular I'm not sure, but the GDP growth and population growth rates are currently pretty low, so that may have something to do with it. Some players also revel in being corrupt and trying to "break" the nation.

Under rating threshold (show) This game seems interesting, but I made a few mistakes early on, in not trying to pass my own bills. But I'll wait it out and hopefully get some more clout soon. I do have one question: If I debate against a bill that is not from my party, will my CSP go down necessarily?

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks for the feedback! Debating against bills that are not aligned with your party is an intended feature of the game and will not cause CSP loss. You can gain clout from both supporting allied bills and opposing enemy bills (as long as the bill passes/fails, respectively). Keep in mind that anything you can introduce you should support, not just bills from your own party.

Under rating threshold (show) Is there anyway you can give us a rundown of how items we buy will effect us? I have, on 3 occasions now, knocked myself out experimenting with the different items of the stores. Also is there anyplace that give a detailed explaination on attributes and the use of abilities? I have been enjoying the game from early on, but I think expanding the help section or making it a little more explained could help a lot. I thought it was intentional at first, but we don't get paid frequently enough and energy regenerates too slowly to be able to really explore and experiment with these sorts of things.

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from delosford

You're right that I need to add a detailed explanation for each stat in the help. I keep forgetting that one. I figured the drugs would be intuitive based on their real-life counterpart. You can wikipedia anything on that list and read more about it. Stimulants give energy, depressants take it. Depressants also remove stress, and stimulants usually cause some. Most abilities can't be explained concisely as you're just supposed to use them when they make sense for your position on a bill. If I were to simply list out what ability was good against what bill, not only would it be a massive mess of text that would be hard to glean anything useful from, but I think it would trivialize the game as each bill tends to have a couple obvious strong abilities and a couple less obvious ones that require knowing something about history/politics/etc.

idaho69

Dec. 13, 2012

Under rating threshold (show) I not enter the debate "pay to win" but I find annoying to wait so long to play again. Maybe you can consider increasing the energy depending on the level of the player. Otherwise interesting concept, but for me it lacks clarity (for example, the cost of shares, bonus objects, abilities too) do not want to take the time to look. For now my rating is 2/5 because just that lack of fun! But continue it could become interesting;-p

+ - !

(-1)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks for the feedback! Sorry to hear the game isn't really your cup of tea. I did increase energy regen already by 20% based on player feedback such as yours, but I can't really increase it any more without compromising how the game is played and possibly alienating my existing userbase. While I imagine many people do find the opacity of the game mechanics frustrating, it was an intentional move by me to encourage play based on personal preference and some level of roleplaying as opposed to everyone just trying to build the statistically "best" character. Sorry again to hear that you find these features offputting.

Under rating threshold (show) I love text based games, and this game in my opinion is in the top ten that I have ever played. But just because I'm saying this doesn't mean that their is nothing wrong with this game, in fact their are quite a few things I think is wrong with the game. To name a few; having to scroll up and down all the freaking time kills me, and having to wait eight minuets for one energy is also terrible. Sure the game has some letdowns, but don't all. And compared to some games this is heaven. I like this game a lot, and want to thank you for taking the time and putting in the effort to make something for others to enjoy. I know I have.

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks very much for the highly positive feedback and suggestions! I apologize for you having to scroll the page a lot. The game was originally built on facebook back when there were no options for game page size. As such, the game has always been this resolution which turned out to be unfortunate for users with smaller monitors. I will be building a tablet version at some point that has a smaller res. The energy regen rate is slow for a variety of reasons such as balancing casual against active players and creating much greater opportunity for player-player interactions. I actually sped the rate up by 20% due to feedback from Kongregate players, but shifting it any more would significantly alter the game. I'm glad that you've been able to enjoy the game despite the flawed or disliked features.

Sorry chumpski, but rating a game 1 without playing it is fraud. You might be allowed to do it, but it's a fraudulent and illegitimate rating. I'm sure you'll also be happy to know that the troll posting users you're defending DID actually commit your version of rating fraud with multiple alt accounts. They're using alt accounts and bandwagoning to uprate comments that have nothing to do with the game and fraudulently decrease the rating of the game while downvoting comments that are helpful to new players.

Claiming that my game is P2W and a copy of liberal crime squad are not "opinions". They're just troll posts that are factually inaccurate and made by people who haven't played the game and came here as part of a forum invasion to commit rating fraud. If you look through the comments for legitimate opinions from actual users, you'll find my responses are quite different. But then of course you didn't play the game or bother to read anything either and you're the same kind of sadsack troll they are. Maybe try using your time for something productive next time instead of pathetic bandwagoning. + - !

(3)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks for the support! Cigars and booze both reduce stress at the cost of energy. Any drugs that take energy from you can make you go negative and pass out. Don't worry about trying to reduce stress with drugs unless your stress is well over 25%, as you regenerate 25% stress per day, minus 1% for every active bill in Congress.

You're joking, right? Liberal Crime Squad's gameplay is nothing like this. I've been working on this game for a couple years and didn't even hear about LCS until someone mentioned it in a comment. You play a congressperson in LCS? Oh, no? You don't? Yeah, you play a GROUP of random citizens who goes around a city killing people. With a political theme. It's pretty damn dissimilar from my game. Of course you didn't actually play my game at all so you wouldn't know that, now would you? Congrats on being wrong about this being pay2win as well. Under rating threshold (show) @developer. This definitely is pay to win. While 5k Clout might not be much for high level players, early game that is a huge amount. Pay to win. If you buy it early game (which is your goal, of course) gives you a high amount of Clout, and if that's not an advantage, you tell me what is. Oh and having been on facebook doesn't mean anything, all these facebook games want you to pay just as well.

+ - !

(4)

Developer response from delosford

Oh, so you're aware of the fact that buying a large amount of Clout will advance you to CT2 and reduce your ability strength against CT1 players? And it actually puts you at the bottom of CT2 compared to the upper bound of 30kClout, so it's really more like pay-to-lose until you gain more clout normally? Oh, you weren't aware of that and judged a game without ever playing it for more than 5 minutes, reading the help files or knowing anything about it? Thanks for proving my point. Also I mentioned the tenure of the game on facebook because the last complainer erroneously assumed the Top 20 had all bought massive amounts of Clout (nobody on the top 20 has bought any clout. A couple have bought unusued safe deposit boxes.) So if my game is pay to win... why are none of the winners paying?

Under rating threshold (show) To avoid becoming pay to win, you are limited 5k clout per month of real money purchases. How is that avoiding it? 5k clout is a huge advantage, especially as a starting player. The game's barely been out and you can already see how much of a pay-to-win situation it's already created

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from delosford

I don't think you understand what pay to win means. 5k clout is nothing to a higher-level player. Being able to advance through CT1 quicker is only an advantage in how much time it takes you to get there. As soon as you hit CT2, your ability plays become weaker against CT1 players. Therefore, there's no paying to win. End of story. Also very few players have bought anything, probably due to the fact that 5k clout/50k cash is next to nothing for an experienced player. So I have no idea where you're getting the idea that there's already some kind of pay to win situation. None of the top players have bought anything. Oh, and the game has been out for multiple years on Facebook before I ported it to Kongregate. This is why some of the top players have lots of clout.

Under rating threshold (show) The game from what I can see is enjoyable, but isn't capable of being fast-paced. In comparison, gamemaker, check out War of the Web. It's limited but never murky. When trying/failing/succeeding to play this I just feel slow. May I suggest energy coming at 3/ten minutes or 1/5 minutes or something similar?

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from delosford

Unlike most games on Kongregate, the game isn't really designed to be fast-paced and played constantly. It's intended that you use energy about once or twice a day, potentially extending this under special circumstances using drugs (or perhaps all the time if you're very rich). The game is entirely multiplayer (some people do not notice this at first, forgive me if you did), and the low energy regen is partially to force player-player interactions. The energy regen rate is also balanced against the gains you can make playing abilities and the other timed actions you can commit or other actions you can take with energy (some timed). I will however mention that you'll likely feel much less limited as you gain better abilities and equipment. Your effectiveness on bills will go up 3-4x.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

This is a common complaint, but I think you'll find that you end up much more able to affect the game with your energy as your character advances. Once you start getting better abilities you won't feel quite so limited, but larger bills will still entice you to work together with others. A lot of the gameplay revolves around planning how to use your limited energy and knowing when to risk scandals and addiction to boost it.
