Under rating threshold (show) I love you for making this game, but does the energy regen have to take so long?

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks for saying so! There's a detailed explanation of why energy regens at the speed it does in Help->FAQ.

Under rating threshold (show) I can't kill my character off, the suicide button has disappeared. Can somebody pls help.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

Means you must've gotten to Clout Tier 2. It'll reappear if you have -10000 Constituent Support or worse. If you really want me to kill off your character I can do it manually.

Angried

Jul. 27, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) So I just overdoses myself at Tier 1, and now I have 16/100 health. WHAT NOW?

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

Now you have 16 health.

Under rating threshold (show) @kelana remember that this is a fictional america, also the liberals do have a down-side: they spend way too much money which then digs us into large amounts of debt. right now there are a ton of librals and we are in a ton of debt, so it shows in-game as well.

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from delosford

When 1/18000 people thinks the party descriptions are biased, I figure I did a pretty good job.

So saying that they disregard economic effects to give money to special interests is a positive description? Sounds like the only bias showing here is yours.

Under rating threshold (show) @skoosh it only changes it slightly, but i'm assuming that you just joined. if you get a more clout and introduce bigger bills then it will affect more, this is to keep a huge wave of noobs coming in and destroying everything.

Under rating threshold (show) Very interesting game concept. Never heard of Clout before. If you could build Clout, The Lobby, etc up even more and integrate them seamlessly there's no telling the amount of emergent gameplay that could come of it or how this satire might actually take on a life of its own and raise interesting concepts and insights on politics in general. Already i've seen that these satirical politician players are building power bases, going after each other in groups, and acting like real politicians.

+ - !

(7)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks for saying so! And I definitely agree that it'll be interesting to see what exactly becomes of the interconnection between the games.

Under rating threshold (show) No Fascism? :(

Developer response from delosford

Not explicitly, though you can pretty much go that route if you want.

Under rating threshold (show) When I pass a bill does it dramatically change the world, or in a small percentage

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

Each bill individually changes the nation very little, except for binary bills.

Under rating threshold (show) :( someone screwed me over on one of my bills, guess that's karma. but then again i did like seeing the typo: FISSION MAILED

(1)

That's not a typo. Looks like somebody never played Metal Gear Solid.

Under rating threshold (show) i love screwing people over on one of their first bills :)

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

You're probably mostly doing it to people who introduced a bill and then quit the game. There are automated protections against doing this to the first couple bills a person introduces, but they wear off after a few hours.

Skootash

Jul. 26, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) So when I introduce a bill is it for the whole world? or am I in some place that I dont even know im there.

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

All bills by all players apply to the same game world and are accessible to all players playing the game.

Under rating threshold (show) I forgot what color my party was. How do I check what color liberals are? ._.

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

The clout progress bar on the status screen is your party's color. Party chat also works, as was mentioned.

Under rating threshold (show) This game is beautiful. The main thing that I've learned (even if I'm only on day two) is that drugs are necessary. All the drugs. ALL THE DRUUUUUUUGS!!!!!!!! Maybe I'll be a politician now :D.

Under rating threshold (show) I lose too much energy too quickly

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

You'll find that this doesn't stay a worry for long. The game gets a lot more complex as you progress and you end up with a lot more things to do. You can also use drugs if you want more energy, though you should read the help files to be aware of the drawbacks of doing so.

qwed117

Jul. 26, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) you should change the energy regen to 1/5

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

The energy regen rate is carefully balanced against a variety of things, and such a large change would seriously impact game balance.

Jul. 26, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) Is there a certain limit when the game just breaks on itself and declares a nation failure reset? Sorry for commenting again. I'm just curious.

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from delosford

There is no in-code point at which this occurs, but I've generally said that if the nation rank gets to the bottom few on the list then the country will get reset.

trampek

Jul. 26, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) Absurdly large national debts seem to not reall faze anyone, but I don't really care aswell. Go America!

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from delosford

Seems all the newbies definitely altered the debt:gdp ratio quite a bit. It jumped from ~30trillion to ~50trillion in a day. You'll see people trying to correct that now.

Under rating threshold (show) That President isn't afraid to exercise his veto powers is he?

Considering there were thousands of bills passed yesterday, I'm kind of surprised only that many got vetoed.

Under rating threshold (show) "Being an atheist politician is tough, but it does endear you to some people." Well, my presendit is atheist x)

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

It specifically refers to US politics. Since we're the only developed nation that doesn't find mixing religion and government to be completely preposterous for some reason (despite the founders of the country clearly stating that we should keep religion out of governance).

Under rating threshold (show) Im actually just seeing this. It says "character authentication failure please reload the game" when i try to introduce a bill.

Have you tried reloading the game? That message means Kongregate isn't properly authorizing your account.

Under rating threshold (show) Ok you asked me to elaborate so i am. I committed suicide cause I didn't get the game and made a mistake....Now whenever I create my character it says in the top left corner hacking is bad mmmkay?

Jul. 25, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) How is it that pass chance can go over 100%?

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

Because getting a binary bill to its max point value doesn't immediately pass it. Any % over 100 will automatically pass at the end of the duration unless it's brought back down below 100 before that.

Under rating threshold (show) For a person that isn't really into politics, I surprisingly like this game! Love the real-time aspect on it, and how our actions can really change what happens in the game. I'm more into dumb shooters, but this is a smart game that I adore. Good thing it came back after 2 years after release!

Under rating threshold (show) @Dev; is this game inspired by / has some elements of another text-based game called "Fallen London"? i'll be honest, i checked this game out solely on the basis of me knowing that Fallen London was a game i didn't quite dislike :p

Under rating threshold (show) Surprisingly, the elections of your presidents are followed almost religiously in France and surrounding countries (I wouldn't know about Eastern Europe but I am sure they are like us). I remember a local station asking two child actors what they fought of the Invasion of Iraq (as it was called here) back in 2002. No other warring country would get this privilege. Newspapers like to report any piece of info they can get - in fact, six months after Obama's second election, a national newspaper in Switzerland ran a story about Romney's leftover 5 million dollars from the campaign. Even in Europe people pick sides as if they were voting too! On a more general level, the French market is often Anglophobe (that is, adverse to the English language) but they enjoy video games as much as anyone else. Providing a game in their language is the ultimate compliment. Hm, this comment is getting extremely long! You know, I should make it into a blog post!

+ - !

(4)

Developer response from delosford

Translating the game is something that would take a good while and unfortunately I still need to finish like...4 other games that people are waiting on (1 is already mostly done at least!)

DereckSchiller

Jul. 25, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) Really cool game, but I find it incredibly slow-paced! It takes more than half a day to restore your 100 energy points. Welp in any case, just throwing this out there, but I'm instantly available if you'd like to introduce Clout to the French market. You'd be surprised how much Europe knows about US politics :P

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks for saying so! The game was originally designed to support casual play as well as more active play. Drugs let you play the game more actively, but also make you much more open to pvp interaction. I'm also definitely interested to hear what you have to say about the French market.
