Pro tip: If you can get a get a Hydra from the Foggy Swamp, spawn it, then have it split in two but survive, you'll have 2 full hydras the next year! Used this with a lot of Russian peasants in the woods to beat very hard!

yeehaw hard mode! Second last day I threw everything I had at the shrinking scroll den. Whatever survived was going up against the final army, the shrunken final army!!! Mwahaha
Faith points gained 5215. Killed 110 swordsman and 52 knights :D

I have about 80% win rate on 'normal', I have beaten the campaign and I have all bronze, all silver and the first gold achievement, but still... After 40ish tries I couldn't get past year 25 on 'hard'. Hard is hard.
Is there any nation/strategy/believe combo that can make it?

Jesus. Made it to the 50th year and went to end the year and got attacked. I had to throw all in and turn every single peasant into militia and I still almost lost. But I made it! I earned the medium (which really should be hard) badge, and I'm done! Good game, but almost too hard even on "Very Easy" to complete. But if you're just going for fun? 5/5
Oh yeah; played as Chinese to beat the game. Played as Mongols twice, but only got to 44th year. And went for Miner's faith this time around too. I think that's the key. THEN go for Temple of Defenders.

I am unsure why people think this game is so hard... at least on Very Easy. I have beaten it with every nation by just rushing either Faith units or Myth (minotaur/hydra) units. Want an easy win that takes little brain power? Go Celts and focus on economy, build 2-3 cowsheds for food (no farms, farms bad), and then only get the orange beliefs (the ones about swordsmans, knights, etc). After that, just sit back and spam out paladins, exorcists, and angels.
Or alternatively you can go chinese and focus on the forest units, get a dendrite, and spam archers. Meme builds best builds.

@Naud1234: Before e_cha made this game he made "50 years" which can be found at https://www.kongregate.com/games/e_cha/50-years. That game and this one are basically the same but the first one is all text, you can't even use a mouse to click on a menu. So since this game does have graphics but the same general gameplay it has "graphical" in its title.

Nothing more satisfying then getting to the final battle and transformed all of them into chickens. Wish you could transform them into pigs like in Willow.

This game is very flawed even though it has all the gameplay of the full version (I assume). It doesn't have any sound effects or music even though that's very important for games. It has barely any graphics even though it says (graphical) in the title. The only graphics are the characters when in battle and they are horrible graphics. The full version is much better, but not something out of the ordinary for even a free HTML5 game, so I don't feel like paying for it when better games are available on this website for free.

15 archers, 5 knights, 1 minotaur and 2 swordsmans attacks...man, that was tough, but at least I live through the attack- 5 hydras attack...wow, just wow...

Defeat: You held out for 23 years. Um, okay, but what about the 20 peasants that were still in the castle? Did they all spontaneously combust while my knights and archers fought a minotaur?

This is a bad game, in many ways. But indeed, most of flaws could be ignored, the real killer is broken battle simulation part combined with crazy randomness (if results are so random then where's even my merit in succeding?). And yet, any time, i'd take this game over... you know what :)

This isn't a bad game, but the one lingering, potential game killer seems to be to hope enemy formations don't ever ramp up to any sort of ridiculous amount for that point.

Come for the badge, head to Steam for the prettier version, on sale for about another 4 hours (until 10 AM PDT 8/30/21) for only 49 cents! (I bought it this weekend, and it plays similarly, but with nicer graphics/interface, and better unit placement AI.)

Why does the same people complain about BOTD every single time? These are literally free games, if you dont like it use your goddamn money to buy a game you like.

Criticism is allowed, but the reason people keep downvoting your comments is because they're criticizing the graphics and music, which is pretty darn subjective and doesn't really matter that much in the first place. Also, you apparently felt the need to post three separate comments in a row instead of condensing them down to one, and that's just plain annoying

I guess criticism isn't allowed. 5 stars. Magnificent game. I don't think I've ever played a game this good. Spider-Man Miles Morales only got a 9.4, but I give this masterpiece a 10. Truly a groundbreaking game.

I had to listen to some epic music on YouTube to make this game bearable. All of my enjoyment came from the music, so I give this game 2 stars. You can't just boil down the strategy genre to the most essential parts and expect it to still be fun.

If people need a tutorial to beat very easy mode then you know very easy is the new normal. Just don't play the second to last scouting mission. That killed me the first time. Build a lot of troops so you don't die in fights. You don't need to upgrade the town hall all the way.

I found this game to be extremely boring. No music. No sound effects. Barely any graphics. The Steam version is better, but I'm not spending $5 for that. Kongregate has better games for free. It's just build buildings to hire units and then hire units. Then fight a basic boring fight.

The real graphical version is on Steam. It has nice graphics and you can actually see how many units you can hire instead of getting a message if you can't.

Are... are you serious? I actually have to finish this game to get the BOTD? Most other BOTDs are easy badges or fast medium badges and sometimes they are an easy badge while I already have the medium badge.

I did not use scroll by the way. I had 2 chicken devils in that battle and they somehow managed to get in the front line in time to save all my other meatshields.
