A pretty random and unfair difficulty spike at year 34 for me. About tripled the normal amount of enemies I'd been facing. No beuno.

There seems to be something wrong with the balancing, when you fight the opponent with the about the same amount of troops, you ALWAYS lose, for example 4 swords vs 4 swords - you lose, every single time. more numbers mean even worse odds, for example 10 swords vs 9 swords - you lose every time! I have tested this on about 10 games resulting in 10 consecutive losses.... So either this is as intended, in which case it would be nice to post a heads up that the computer ALWAYS holds the advantage, or it's a balancing issue that needs fixing...

I'm sorry, but the learning curve on the game is far too steep for me to enjoy it and it hardly rewarding enough for me to continue playing it. Judging by the game's rating, most people will disagree with my review, but I stand by it: add a tutorial and explain things in more detail.

A tutorial explaining what I'm supposed to do would be helpful, honestly. The only instructions provided for the game are "Use mouse." Thanks, that's really helpful. -_-

Getting attacked by 2 knights, then 4 swordsmen, then an archer and a knight... so on, so on... then suddenly BAMM 23 ARCHERS, 30 SWORSMEN, 23 KNIGHTS AND GODZILLA WITH LAZERSHARKS MATAFACKAAAAAA!!!

8 swordsmen, 3 knights, 2 minotaurs and 1 hydra. That's me at 32 years in very hard. Until I decided to kill those 4 unicorns. I regret my decision.

Version 0.7.3
When you have many units, the list of buildings is not displayed any more due to space. The building list gets the font resized but the unit list should also get the font resized.

What a dumb game, 4 swordsmen + 1 knight losing to 4 swordsmen + 1 MILITIAMAN, yes that's correct. I tried most civilizations and the french seem to be the only one to have be at DISADVANTAGE instead of having any sort of advantage. Retarded as hell.

That year 25 battle (2 hydras 2 minotaurs) on very hard drives me insane, i play the french, I had exocism (so the ennemies had only half HP, on top of that i managed to gather an army of 8 swordsmen, 3 knights and the exorcist (biggest i could get, i barely lost anything to this point and never used a militiaman), and still the 2 hydras survived with almost all the health they had at the beginning!! WHATS THE TRICK HERE???
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Anyone figured out a way of defeating the Hydra x2+ Minotaurus x2 at year 25 on very hard? To me, rushing "Exorcism" seems to be the only viable option, but on top of that you need a very big army... seems impossible
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Unless there's only one strategy you have to use to not die (rush for as many soldiers as you can get while somehow not losing anybody and having to waste money on constantly rebuilding your army), then the number of enemies increases a tad too fast. Unless it's entirely luck based, which would be un-fun BS.

This is the most addicting game I have ever played, I have tried to beat this game everyday for a week, 5/5, favorited, and added it to my playlist. Great game!

Okay so I started a game on very hard. I bought one peasant, one swordsman. (as that's the maximum amount of swordsman I could get at that point, y'know?) I end the year. My first year. I get attacked by three militia people and he dies. There was literally no way I could have avoided that. Nothing at all that I could have done to make me live to the next year. At all. I am displeased.

It would be nice to know the name of the country and army your fighting against. If I'm the Americans, am i fighting Mongolians? Does it change randomly each time? Who is my enemy!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Short and Sweet. Any big changes and it might lose it's character. Some tweaking is needed though.
1)Enemy army strength is sometimes very random. Needs a smoother increase over time.
2)Tavern of miners: enemy rumors don't give much/any useful info.
3) Add option to sacrifice units for faith (excellent for converted militia).
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I see a lot of people saying this game is hard -> Simply focus on one strategy. The legend of the miners faith route is perfect for all to start with, then either rush hydras/minotaurs in bulk or the angel/knight route in bulk. I haven't been able to win with druids, but hydras/minotaurs are easy mode. I just wish there was a sandbox mode... Such an excellent game.

Tbh I find the mongols pretty easy to play I almost got to the end of the game at normal difficulty (year 50). Start: Keep on buying peasants until u reach max pop (5) then try to get a cowshed and wait and get a knight. when fighting use 2 milltia vs 1. Since Mongols gain gold from battle it is very easy to build up ur economy. Later u can use the money to get church (I had 4) and also lumber mill (I had 2 or sometimes 3).

To Smer4: At very hard mode, you can buy a swordsman + 1 milltiaman. I don't suppose u know milltiaman can fight too? so 1 swordsman +1 milltiaman beats 3 milltiaman and u still have 1 person working which gives u 100 gold
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I dont understand te very hard mode - you get only 1000 gold at start, what allows you to by 1 swordsman but he can not stand 3 militia what will atack t the end of 1 year...

Year 40, Tonight 5 unicorns assaulted our castle, our men managed to kill one before they were wiped out, the Ent managed to survive the longest but even he was eventually overwhelmed .... Fortunately the reserve army of Tigers was not so easily bested!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Actually the game is just way too random to be truely nejoyable, i'm here restarting in very hard plenty of times hoping for a good setup during the first 25 years...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Being able to reverse the transformation of druids into tigers before battle is a necessity, a miss-click at year 40+ and all your druids vanish....

WOw, year 49, i got attacked by a miserable army composed of few swordsmen and militiaman, and suddenly on year 50, the entire armada arrives...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Neat idea and execution, but pacing/balancing is a bit odd. Overall, it feels a bit too random to be really fun for me. Primarily, the random placement and behaviors during battle and the unpredictable enemy attack numbers. Also, it feels a bit strange that they are hurling all these expensive forces at us and losing everything year after year. All things being equal that means our country should be way ahead economically.

I completely agree that being able to choose the positions of your troops would improve this game immensely. Sound effects would be a nice touch, but is not needed. Great game! Keep up the great work! If you listen to the input of your fans this game will be absolutely amazing!

This game is great! Agree with everyone on adding some battle mechanics. I think the menus could be cleaned up a little bit, organized better. Instead of having a new segment start as the last item, bump it down to a new line.

Final battle as Russia, got over a hundred troops, including 50 militiamen.
Laughed evilly.
Used shrinking scroll.
Ended the battle with no losses and a newfound respect for human wave tactics.
11/10, would zerg again.
