Needs some balancing. I was doing fine on easy, killing one army after the other with negligible losses. Suddenly, 4 hydra attack and ruin my entire army.

Sometimes, in certain formations of three archers, when a tiger arrives it gets stuck behind these three archers, trying to push through the shortest path even though it could make its way around them.

I'd love a scoring system. It could be something where total faith acquired+enemies defeated+dens defeated+gold acquired, and so on. It might make for some different game modes too.

The only thing I don't like thus far is that if you send your troops to a Den and they get defeated you have to restart even if you send none of your peasants. Otherwise, 5/5

The game is a bunch of fun, but the combat is terribly painful because of the way my units always seem to form a line to walk into the enemy one at a time. I'm tired of losing tons of units to inferior forces because my guys decide to 1v3

I was going to complain about the ability of the French but it turned out to be very useful for battle. I think they should get something for knights though, definitely.

Wow. Hard game, but good. For those looking for hints, I found that scroll of reduction, ore armor, and chicken scroll helped me. I beat the game playing for Rome. By the end I had a minotaur, lots of swordsmen, about a dozen knights and a few paladins. I didn't bother with the lumberyard. I used the scroll of reduction around year 32 and the chicken scroll year 49.

If you have trouble with the huge jump to the last fight, just get the scroll of transformation (same religious upgrade as zombie chickens) at some point and use it for the last fight. 100 zombie chickens isn't nearly as bad.

i really want to beat this game. its the only game in a very long time that I've had to admit defeat and play on easy for. And i'm still having trouble! one day though! spain hard mode i swear!

Going from being attacked by a couple of knights, swordsmen and archers to being attacked by an army of swordsmen if a bit excessive.

it only needs 3 things, but its still is a very very good game.
these 3 things it needs:
1. needs more balanced
2. multiplayer
3. formation editor

The only distinct improvements I can see being needed are a formation editor, so you have the right units in the right spots, and adjusting the positioning of some of the pop-up boxes when choosing faiths as well as using a smaller text size in the info box. Really, even as it is this is still a really good game, although I'll admit that I rather enjoy the ones that can take 50, or even 100, hours per playthrough (such as Sword of the Stars), but you definitely found the sweet spot for the balance of this one.

Too random and entirely too religious. My Santas, elves, and pixies don't understand strategy and walk around the battlefield with a clueless Evangelical look in their eyes.

The way units deploy in battle is fuc*ed up. You can loose to opponent you outnumber and out-power just because some knights decided to attack this particular militia all across the board...

So I got all my units killed, but since a tiger survived that was summoned when they died. I lived. Now I have no way to produce food, and 9 tigers spawn whenever I fight...

Is the game meant to be so malevolent? I got people preach early to get extra peasants ... BUT THE FUKKEN ENEMY MILITIAMEN NEVER COME! FU!

Alright here's how you beat very hard:
americans, start 1x peasant 1x swordsman. Spam huts and peasants, get a few more swordsman as you go along. You want a strong army that doesn't need militia. For your first belief, get legend's of the forest. Work towards barracks, townhall, stables and 1-2x cow herds.
Your next beliefs should be the +10% gold generation and then scroll of reduction.
On year 25 you'll get hit by very high level units (usually unicorns, hydras, tigers, and/or druids). Use scroll of reduction.
For beliefs, I like ore armor, then get chicken scroll, but others can work.
Keep on clearing dens whenever you can take very few casualties. Year 40 is hard. Year 51 is hard.
From here on out it's pretty straightforward, I didn't outline every single decision but it should be obvious when to make your 3rd/4th townhall, get a nice mix of every unit for your army and you should be set.

@RedGoldandGreen How about not sending peasants into war? Buy a knight early and you won't loose any troops in early game
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
What's more the enemy just gets stronger and stronger every time, while I'm desperately trying to rehire new peasants so I can make enough gold to afford anything **besides** peasants. :/
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I must be missing something. The only way I can see to increase gold rapidly is to hire peasants. I can only hire 1 or 2 per turn. Each turn someone attacks and I lose them. What are you supposed to be doing?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Manwithabook did you check your "accumulate faith" button, you might have accidentally clicked it, and that would be the reasons why it went over the "level up"

I'm currently sitting at 5521/2249 faith, and have not gotten any upgrade menu. If it looks like a bug, and smells like a bug...
