Will this game ever have modding potential, ie. could you add units, buildings, beliefs, civs, special modes, etc.? The game is already amazing, but if that was possibly, well, it would be a LOT better.

it seems as for very hard you can't survive the first year unless you pick a certain place such as japan that gives a buff right away as the enemy sends three militia which can kill the 1 swordsman you can afford with the 1000 gold you start with

The wood element guys are just too weak, archers and druids will "miss"... Beaten Very Hard with Russians, they have a higher income than the Americans (weird lol)

I beat easy and normal, I'm working on hard atm furthest i got was year 40 if anyone has any tips for hard or very hard, help would be nice

@Minnesang: Try rushing stables (and then mazes) instead of building barracks. Ideally you shouldn't ever have to build more than 2 swordsmen because you'll be building knights instead.

This game is no longer fun with the barracks change :/ Its already too hard to finish normal on anything but american.

This is kind of a dumb little game but it's fun as hell. I enjoy the puzzle of trying to beat the game with different civs.

Shivman you DO know that mongols don't get faith in battle and churches are completely optional? you CAN play without faith if you want.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I hate that I can't go without religion. I want an atheist faction! With blackjack and nudes! Seriously, you could implement something like a technocrat nation, they don't get faith for anything, and don't use it for anything, instead they have passive bonuses on all units and economy and don't pay increasing prices maybe. Keep updating!

My only real complaints (just 2 otherwise the game is amazing)
1) the who hits first and location cause some very odd issues to happen..why yes my 2 swordsmen and militia somehow lost to 2 swordsmen because they focused fire while my militia decided to bodyblock the 2nd swordsman somehow
2 Please give the "knight" path some ranged something (largely targeted towards russia the inability to gain wood means there is no way to gain a single ranged unit and the final battles becomes just giant walls of soldiers

you should make a full colour version but no different combat or system than this, and have a long campaign and long, awesome battles :D

EXCELENT update! Now we can save gold and rebuild our army in the levels we need most. It has balanced the game so much, thank, you, sir!

Russians + Church Upgrades + 6 Exorcists + Scroll of Reduction on Wave 50 = only lost 1 knight on final level for the win
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
51 years??? What a misnomer... Confident victory though
Is that also new, or is that just if you don't use a scroll of reduction on the final wave like I've been doing? This was the first time I've finished without doing so(cause I screwed up and accidentally used it on wave 49 lol)

nice idea but the game is unbalanced.. normal difficulty because of randomness and computers too high income is too difficult to pass
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Hey guys! I've just uploaded a new version with a BIG changes for buildings. Please re-read barrack/stable/etc. description :)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
hard is only first 10-15 years, if you can hire 1 or 2 paladins and choise a armor+2 you will easy win, mostly battles after 35 years i win without loose any unit
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
What a brilliant game. So much opportunity for experimentation, and the difficulty level is acceptable (except if you play for Russians).

Sadly I have to say that everything is a matter of luck.
Not really a strategy works even because the attack systems mostly give the AI more better movement and very dumb to your units.
There is not even the chances to follow up the "pathline" related to any culture if not Americans. Ah.. and the Americans are op.
3 stars

nice idea... but needs balancing...for example, reduce price for peasants and make it easier to get gold... this would help a lot...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Very hard game. I made it so far up to yr. 33. I think that you have to first focus on getting money the first 15 yrs or so (building peasents) and your defence. Later spawn out the more advance units and such.

It's nice. But unless you're playing with the same rules as the enemy (where they get some buffs similar to the CIV games), it's not going to have much potential.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i went with a tactic of focusing mainly on peasants, with a few soldiers to defend, helps build money over time quicker yet riskier early game

Excellent game reminds of the old times when even on the easy level the player had to think and hard level was really hard.

After about 40 years, the enemy attacks get way out of hand, and it becomes just a matter of luck. I kept defending attacks of around 15 people every year, then got attacked by 3 hydras and the next year got owned by a massive army of over 60 swordsmen and 20 knights. I can't rebuild the army that quick..
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
no balance in the level design. Even easy, the game we pounded each cycle by attacks. It overrides any desire to challenge and just play
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Great game but there really seems to be no rhyme or reason to what kind of force is going to attack you each year. Going from sometimes swordsmen, archers, and militia one year to two lone swordsmen or militia the next. Or 40 units one year right after you had to face three or four.
