Dendroid was the real hero of this game. It survived when all else fell around it. Also scroll of reduction and transformation helped ALOT.

Awesome game 5/5, I think Japanese got me the furthest. You should add a restart button somewhere for when we screw up. Very hard mode seems a bit steep but I find hard mode quite enjoyable. Also some hotkeys would be nice.

I just restart if attacked the first turn, since it will set you back, so maybe first turn of immunity wouldn't be bad? Like the game though

So, I have 7 peasants and 1 swordsman. I send 2 out of those 8 people to fight, and lose the fight. Game over... WTF??!?

@ognik the reason everyone's using Russians to beat Hard is because they balance no wood with the best gold income/food economy in the game. This is because they can replace MANY miners with cheaper huts, and they get a very fast start, which is crucial at higher difficulties.

I think Russia is really weak because they don't get wood. They can't hire some midgame units and it hurts when you start encountering armies of 30 swordsmen and you have no ranged units. I suggest doubling the wood output and cost for all other faction, and giving Russia the normal output and double cost. This way they will still be able to use these units, just with higher costs.

At first I just laughed that the French retreated when they got hurt (suspecting it was a historical joke), but that actually turns out to be a very beneficial skill early on.

Salisian yes it is annoying when the enemy march as a line, and the player unit just form into a roll, and the unit at the bottom would take 3 free hit before his other 2 teammate come up to fill up the battleground

i played normal, need a lessen random enemy force.. last enemy have 2 knight 4 sword man.. the next one have 9 knight 16 swordman... AI stops continue moving for one turn if it kills a enemy on the bottom right
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm getting a little tired of losing battles I clearly should be winning because the AI deliberately handicaps the player. I just fielded four knights against three knights, and lost. Earlier, it was three knights against one knight and three militia. It's like our units deliberately spread out damage to avoid killing enemy units, and theirs are perfect at focusing fire to ensure we're behind the curve.

I don't know why this game is so enjoyable, but it is. However I think some new building and unit options would be very good, and maybe a new way to earn faith, because of the faith price spikes

Needs a lot of balance, 12 games and Never once made it past year 25, got attacked 15 times in one year I think, it became so absurd I quit keeping track. 2/5

Ok, uh...I don't see anyone else commenting on this, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but are there any, ya know, instructions or anything somewhere here? Cause I kinda like to know what I'm doing beforehand, I'm not a big fan of wasting time flailing and hoping I figure out what's happening as I go along. I just start the game and am handed some options. I don't know, maybe it's fairly simple, but then making some actual instructions should be quick and simple too.

Dude. You need to fix the late game army scaling. It just get out of hand INSTANTLY.
Ideally you want to scale up slowly. Add bosses of some kind. It literally goes from 2 knights and 2 swordsmen to 17 swords men and 8 knights the next fight. Then 18 swordsmend and 12 knights a 8 archers. Its just ridiculous.
And I have only been able to get this far playing the Americans. You have to fix the early game for other civs. Their bonus are absolutely negligible.
Boost other civs. Scale back the late game army growth and attacks. Cuz just massive armies every single turn. There is no chance to recover.

bug: i send units to attack a place i've scouted. If i lose the fight i don't just lose my units (so that i'm able to send a new wave) i lose the entire game (as if i was defending my castle)

45 years on easy. Blah, too much luck involved in survival. A bad year and it's game over no matter if I survive or not. One bad event and it is completely impossible to recover.

I attacked a scouted area and lost my soldiers, why is the whole game over?
I still have a built up base with peasants etc

Multiple Hard runs completed with Russians, and I think right now they're the race to do Hard with. The double gold from huts is huge when you factor in the cost of city halls; going from 30->40 peasants costs a total of 10K, but building 15 huts costs less, gives you 50% more income, and gives you +15 food vs -10. The mining tree (purple) is by far the best, containing 5 of the 6 best beliefs in the game; Tavern actually gives more gold/year than Legends, Teachers gives basically the same damage increase as Blessing, and Ore Armor equates to a 20-25% damage reduction. Hope that helps.
