This game is pretty, but too easy : just make a large plate land around the buildings a fast as possible and crush ennemie tribes with some thunders.

Game has a LOT of potential. For me, The graphics make the game difficult and less impressive. In addition, score doesn't seem to matter- would much like to see an upgrade system for my spells. + if you would too!

Fantastic game - really hit the spot for a strategy/sim - but terraforming as-is is super tedious. I sometimes resorted to just rapid clicking the screen to tear down mountains and then going back and filling in holes.
There are some balance issues to address, also. I won every level without much difficulty by terraforming the hell out of everything and building my army, while also spamming whirlpool on the other tribes to keep them back. I hardly used any other skills, mostly because the benefit/cost of the other skills seemed so poor in comparison.
Despite being a pixel game, the design is really lovely and very polished. The small detail in being able to drown the little people by pulling the land out from under them was a nice touch.

I really feel like this game is TOO easy. You have some great systems, why not use them? Make more and multiple objectives in levels, make enemies more aggressive, add limitations and restrictions other than just a mana cap. Time trials and other gimmicks will add replay value as well. All of these will break away from the long and repetitiveness of the current game. 10 levels in and I really haven't had a need to do anything but terraform. Also, it would be nice to know what powers do and what heroes do instead of trial and error. 3.5/5, but I'll give it a 4 just because it's a really good start.

methinks a bit more detail about how to make settlements work might have been nice. I'm having trouble beating mission three because I really don't know how to make my army beat theirs. Considering looking up this "Populous" to see what I'm missing...

The last few levels can be easily beaten by simply terraforming to a high elevation, holding down the fort until you reach 500 Mana, then using Water Storm to sweep away the competition. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

great game but a few problems was apparent just a few levels in.
1. map scrolling with arrows could have been faster
2. no zoom and camera manipulation is a pain when trying to terraform, i'm not asking much but a 90deg angle switch would have been great
3. elevation indication would have been a great welcome.
but all in all a great game 4/5

Most bad ass 8-bit music to date on Kongregate! Is there a link to Band Camp? I'll buy the album if it's available :D.

i don't understand why sometimes i can't create land and sometimes i can create land on a not so distant location despite there is nobody occupying that location. please help correct this. this is getting annoying.

loved playing Populous back on the snes. improving the way players interact and move about the game world is really all this game needs

I couldn't stand sitting through all of the tutorial. I'm sorry. It's just to invasive for me. You did a good job of making the game fairly intuitive. Stop locking my actions. Let me play.

How do I find this game so repulsive. The people are very illogical, and I just don't quite get how they spawn, how they take over buildings, and the such.

I... I dont understand. I get the backstory... then its just credits... three circles spinning around the title and names scrolling across the bottom... nothing else... Help?

How to make a 6x6 land mass anywhere clickable in 15 clicks or less: (1) Maximize the height on one tile. (2) Lower the height of that tile 5 times. (3) Raise the height of that tile 3 times. (4) Lower the height of the tile once. Repeat for all flat land desired!

Fantasitc game, i loved populous! one complaint. WHen you rapidly raise/lower land, the cursor moves from the spot i left it on. If im on a pixel coordinate say 65, 44, if i push raise 3 times fast it should stay there, it doesnt it moves one way or the other. In populous the key to fast growth was to rapidly raise land, and then lower the tip to flattern. Its awkard and not possible to do that here. Correct that, and you have an amazing homage, thanks

They forgot to mention that having a complete flat surface makes you stronger. I couldn't beat level 3 until I found that out wondering "why do they have castles and I don't?"... Still, rate me down (and I'm sure you will), but this is just a crappy repetitive game.

Not quite sure what happened but, my hard badge has recorded that i beat level 30 once I beat level 29. I guess it counts wrong?

One of the key features of the populous game was to raise up a parcel of land by two and lower the center, thus creating a flat 9x9 area, in one click. Would love to have that feature!
Hopefully one of the fire totems is a volcano!
