Well I completed the game and still don't liked it. Actually only 24 level was challenging, guessing if that big brown blot should be lowered or raised to acquire flat surface makes my eyes pain and after all, at the epic end I get the hard badge and game just freeze - no ending, no final speech just freeze with "this island is yours". The badges ware only thing which makes me play it, sorry.

A really effective stategy for levels 20-30: Once you get the water storm totem, terra-form your starting area upwards to make a huge mountain. Build up your population on the mountain and then use the water storm when you have enough mana. The enemies are usually close to the ground, so this instantly wipes them out. Hope i helped, thumbs up so people can see this.

There was a swirling mass of water that lived in a quiet pond. It asked permission from it's master to visit the lands beyond, and it's allowed it to fly! So the wind swept the whirlpool across the sky. Whiiiiiirl Pooool... Whiiiiiiiirl Pooooooool...

It doesn't let me do anything. When I hit skirmish, it loads up the screen to choose my totems, then I can't do anything. The game still keeps moving, but no controls work. Same with the campaign, it shows the map and the forest totem, but freezes.

@mac5590 Maybe you are trying to do too much. Level 19. 1. Put a waypoint on the fire hero totem. 2. Click "gather at waypoint." 3. Terraform. First, make enough land for the largest house, so it spawns people quickly. Then make a path from your house to the waypoint. Don't worry if your first guy gets killed by the green tribe. Someone will get through soon.

This is brilliant. Sometimes its hard to believe the games that are on offer for free. One suggestion, a mode where you can't see the opponent would add a lovely layer of difficulty, particularly for the skirmish mode. Perhaps it was just my computer, but the game lacked a satisfying ending after the campaign, which might be something for the future. But frankly that's nitpicking, because I absolutely loved playing this.

Needs a fast-forward button for when you just want to wait for your people to grow and you can't do anything at the point.

Nice Populous remake! Things that would be nice: "Keep playing after objective met" mode. Ability to zoom out. More accurate/stable cursor placement. Music is good, but I don't always want to hear music constantly playing - when "mute music" and "mute sound" are the same, I just mute all, and sacrifice sound effects. Otherwise, fun game!

Great game. I've just finished it and got the hard badge. Unfortunately the game crashed just right after that. Is there an ending? 5/5.

Populous was a game about battling another deity for control over land using magic and limited control over the units. This game is about battling a hostile interface.

A bit confusing to look at, sometimes it was hard for me to tell how high something was. Also map control was a bit wonky, but a great game none the less. 3.5/5

I was about to get pretty upset...I beat the game and it locked up on me at the very end hen it said the island is mine. Lucky for me when I refreshed the page and went back it it said game completion 100% and when I loaded the save file it gave me the badge. But I agree prior to level 19 the game is fairly easy. After that it gets pretty hard until you can flood the level.

The hero's strength does not scale with the strength of your leader, so don't make a big fat leader then use hero, you will waste him.

The game is absurdly easy once you get water storm. Every level after can be won by just maxing the height of the your "area" and casting water storm twice (3 times on the last level). Just leave your guys on settlement building raise terrain to max and win...

@5638koman or you could just spam swamp at large concentrations of enemy buildings since the swamps permanently reduce the castles defs until an enemy soldier walks into one and dies

On island 30 when mana stops working (except for terraform and armageddon) are you supposed to look for a 'live together in peace and harmony' button?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Terrain is very illegible for me, many times I can't guess that should lower it or upper it to get flat place; besides sometimes totem terraforms only one block, other times it's makes a mountain on 4 squares. Maybe it's just lack of experience but this makes me don't like this game.

This game is great ! i like how you gave us a tutorial that was very basic causing us to figure it out on ourself but what you should do is when ever you get a new totem it should explain to u what it does

Am I the only on that starts the map by building the tallest plateau I can and then spamming Water Storm to sink all other empires? XD

Craaaapppppppp I resigned level 29's island and when I went to try again it was the first island! Upon reloading the tab my save is vanished! There's code's so I can start where I left off but I can't find any on the internet anywhere?!?

Easy way to beat much of the later stages. First off, this works best on the naturally low lying levels. You have to build up the land high up, then build your tribe as you would normally on that high ground. Once you can use water storm, use it and set your troops to settle. After the wave destroys the low land and the top of your land, your troops will set up houses again and almost all of your enemies will be gone. Then you can just use fire to take them out or you can build a bridge to them.
