How the bloody hell are you supposed to beat 19 when they have a ton of mana right from the beginning? They're dropping fire and volcanoes on me and there's shit all I can do.

Dont randomize the skirmish mode. let me choose my own preferences. the random bot cant hold up to 3 min. if he isn´t agressice or alone.
otherwhise great game. brought up some old memories:)

@electrolyte Could you make Multiplayer mode? Obviously if you can. :P It would be cool if this game has had Multiplayer.

I feel like the balance is off; possibly due to the player now being able to terraform much faster. All the early and most late-game missions are trivial; the most challenging ones are mid-game. I found that in many late-game missions the AI just can't keep up terraforming at the rate I can, and I roflstomp him on all missions except those w/ close spawns. Secondly, if you can't stomp the AI w/ your army, you can generally just cast the extremely OP tidal wave until you win. Since high ground seems to be as cheap as low ground, just build your base higher; as a nice bonus, it seems it's also less affected by fire mountain that way.

There's definitely a bug at some point when you reach high levels with a passive strategy. Some spells stop working (such as fire cloud), and so does the ability to actually have a fight - the population will move towards fights but just disappear. I'm currently in a skirmish that I simply cannot win, even though the other player has 2 houses left!

fck. getting creamed on lvl 19. being in between two armies that build that fast, not having much of a chance. was actually wiped out in 40 seconds after both sides dropped spells on me. off to find a hint site

storm is way to powerful - even on the last map just get the high ground, cast it once or twice and all the enemies go away.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
btw: there IS a bug, as takahmasak describes, it allows razing enemy cities, the terraforming is not prevented when sinking the land to sea level (own pop or buildings required in sight). dunno if that's always the case, but often enough.
bit harder and it would be a nicer game even.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
too bad there's just 2-3 levels that are a BIT harder. most levels can be won by just using terraforming, nothing else
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
only up to level 15 but I feel disappointed when using any other more expensive totems beyond lightning storm, hope it gets better when i continue tomorrow.

nice little blast from the past here, remember populous and pop2 being two of my earlier Amiga games back in the day. Would be nice to be able to turn game sounds and music of independantly as the tune gets irritating after a while but have to turn both music and sounds off together or not at all. 4.5/5 :)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Great game, i feel like it doesn't engage me enough and after a few levels i lose interest. I guess its the whole -click click-wait- routine, thats probably just personal preference though. Really great music though!

Dude, I *@#%ing love you. This was one of my all-time favorites as a kid, I can't believe I'm seeing anything about Populous right now, nobody ever knows what game I'm talking about. Too bad bout bullfrog eh? Glad to see you do something like this, 5/5 just for bein an ol skool balla haha.

slightly elevate your settlement, then use tidal wave to drop your opponents into the ocean! finally finished with that strategy!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Why does it cost energy to tell your people what to do? It's already hard enough for them to figure things out on their own to begin with, lol...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
dude... There has already been a game out years ago that was basically this only with a much better interface. Don't remember the name but its on kong. I want to like this but its just a really cumbersome interface
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
how to win: stay away from all enemys, build tons of citys two levels up from water, water storm, armagendon win with awesomeness
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I think it would be more fun at the end of each level in the post-level summary if instead of seeing just how the land changed over time throughout the level, if it also showed the spread of the populations of each team over time.

Quite a simple, yet fun, RTS!
Honestly, the game has become quite easy with that last update. If you can click+drag to pound plains out of the sea in practically no time, it's very easy to get large buildings, you can basically rush at the enemy. IMO terraforming should be still more expensive than 5/10, perhaps 20?
Also, for the Skirmish mode, it should definitely be possible to adjust your game, i.e. set the number of opponents, the AI strength and the available powers manually.
Looking forward to further updates!

First of all: i love the game. I just don't think that the "Popularity COntest Badge" needs to be a hard one. It wasn't that difficult to finish the game, but maybe that's just me. Some levels i had to play a couple of times but it wasn't to "extreme".
Secondly: i like programmers/developers who listen to their fans and adjust the game accordingly and try to fix the bugs.
Thirdly: the latest update with "Click & Drag terraforming" makes it again a little bit to easy. the cursor was a mess sometimes, but when you learned to work with it, it wasn't that bad and you could terraform quite easily.
I still love the game and hope for more features and maybe in the future a Reprisal 2 :p
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement. With regards to terraform its been updated so it's a little more costly, hopefully making players think twice about how they use it as it was a little too easy before when Drag was first introduced. :D

Very large bug. The new terraforming tool was allowing me to flatten the land (in this case into lava) on the edges of the screen even if there are enemy buildings there. Dropping entire armies into the lava and enemy buildings are gone instantly.
Storms and fire 'scorch' the land! While it's like this buildings can't be made on these tiles. Raising or lowering over them regenerates the land tile quicker though

Armageddon is probably the dumbest spell to ever cast. Turns all your cities and your enemy cities into heroes, and they duke it out. You basically turn your assured win into a 50/50 coin toss.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Boring game. You flatten all the land around, raise flat land from the oceans, add a hero, then crush the opponent. Repeat this 30 times for all the missions.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Well that game was awesome! I really enjoyed it and had a lot of fun. I never knew a game of building flat ground could be so much fun. My only suggestion would be to make it much more difficult. I never really felt threatened by the computer. Needs a difficulty setting to really make it hard. Well great game I really hope you make another and look forward to playing more. 5/5

God, I love EVERYTHING about this game. Half the time, I find myself building a massive colony, then summoning massive thunderclouds over my opponents head, rather than attacking them head-on. XD

So i sent an email to the makers about what the heck the forest totem did. Their reply was, "Thanks for the email, if you use the forest totem around other tribe settlements you can then set fire to them to start forest fires maximizing damage!
Hope that helps,
Jon"
+ so that no one else loses sleep over trying to figure out what forest does!

Why am I collecting different powers when all I need is the terraforming hand of god? Fun game but terraform isn't worked out as well as it should, and I feel it's way too cheap as well. Either that, or mana regen is too high.
