Being able to hold down the left click to terraform en-mass is pretty cool. Unfortunately, it's overpowered. I haven't had any trouble on any level 20+ since it was implimented.

Terraforming made easy, thanks. Difficulty level is very low (build, attack, etc. is enough for the whole game): skills are superfluous, which is too bad. That said, I had a good time, wishing there was a bit more variety.

It takes too long to build the mana to flood everything a few times. Spamming thunderbolt is a much better strategy. And leveling your land. And leveling land under the buildings you raze to get your guys to quit being lazy and go plunder...

Hi guys, I realized that terraforming is really overpowered. not only can you wall off an undesirable enemy, starve the enemy of space, and expand faster than EmpireKas; you could also destroy tall enemy cities by cutting from the base.

There is a serious bug: I am on the last level and some totems just stop working. I cast volcano, fire clouds and lighting storms and nothing happened except my mana is spent.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm sorry, terraforming is far too overpowered, you can create a huge amount of castles just by making the same height of land over and over, made fast by holding down the mouse key. Your empire grows so fast when you do that

seriously water storm is the most broken and rigged spell ever, just make any high level city, cast it, and wait
Most times you will win, but at most you will use 2 water storms

Thank you thank you thank you for the click and drag terraforming. That small changed completely transformed my strategy and greatly improved the game, which is overall great. Well Done.

Yay. Finally crushed level 24. The mouse-drag update helped, but mainly I used the tactic of misdirection (since the goal is just to gather the totem). And level 25 fell to the 'win button' that is tidal wave. >:}

@RRS1980 - no, Populous charged per click, that was the whole point. The click-hold terraform in this game is missing the point. You are supposed to raise a mountain, then flatten it, without moving cursor, because that costs a lot LESS mana and a lot LESS time than raising each tile by hand. But in this game, raise/lower is too cheap, the click-hold is ultra-cheap, and the spells are too expensive, so it all becomes irrelevant :(

click and drag makes this game ridiculously easy, all you have to do is endlessly flatten your land out until you have far more troops than your enemy and attack.

I'm trying to play the last level, but I keep esperiencing a bug that doesn't allow me to use my totems but still consumes my mana.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Hahaha! This game is a piece of cake when you get the water storm.
Build a tall village, wait for 500 mana, then boom! Most of them are gone. :D

Addition to my previous comment: That strategy stopped working right after I entered it. On level 19 there's too much enemies and they also have flat land. (beaten it by sprinting around them...)

Also, maybe a minor complaint here, but I've always hated up/down/left/right keys moving along the diagonals on the play grid.

I'm in the third bloody level, and I'm getting my rear handed to me, I have no idea whats going on, the characters don't seem to be responding to my commands, and I think I just heard my character game over as I'm down here typing this.... This looks rather interesting, but I have no clue what I'm doing.

1. Make the land around your cities flat. 2. When the enemy approaches, start attacking. 3. Use lightning on their big cities. You can't lose. This game is far too easy and offers no variation. The enemies actually burn down their own towns more often than mine. I am just waiting for the levels to end, nothing more.

The first 25 levels can be won by just building flat land quickly and letting your guys naturally win. The last 5 can be won by building flat land a tier higher than your opponent and then flooding everything a few times. This made the game pretty easy.

@MrSister: To get a leader, set a Waypoint and direct your men to go to the waypoint. The first one to arrive will take a moment or two and then become a leader.

Love it, just as good as populous and added in some great improvements on the original idea. One thing that I really liked was that you added those little glowing tiles around the buildings to show where the building wanted to grow. Back in the day I remember that the manual explained that, but it was hard to see which building needed you to give it more flat land and which was staying. Some of us had to learn how to notice. (Which was done by the look of the building). Now I can check the edges of my land mass and see which buildings have grown up to the edge. I like this because it adds to the playability of the game without actually messing with the concept. Also I noticed that you changed the rate of mana growth, making it almost impossible to end up in a situation where you can't terraform -- that was an excellent decision.

Ah, yeah. Now I know what exactely I hated about the 90s games: Endless clicketyclick against a faster computer, no possibility to use your keyboard as a second command unit and shitty graphics. Thanks for reminding me and goodbye!

love click drag for terraforming ... although it make a game bit too easy. would suggest making the ai more aggressive in final levels.

I actually had a blast playing this game since I never actually got to "experience" Populous, as well as for the fact that this isn't your typical game on Kong. 4/5 since it could be a little harder and not so dependent on Offensive spells (but maybe that's the point of the game? Who knows...)

Screen way too small, and because you didn't implement your code properly, it stays tiny when you zoom - all except the landscape, which zooms correctly. Please fix. 1/5
