My suggestions:
- Multiplayer function (This, in my opinion, has the potential to be one of the better multiplayer games on Kongregate)
- Speed the whole thing up and make the tracks longer (This could be really intense and really fun to play)
- Time penalties should either be calculated at the end along with overall time and used to determine the winner or renamed as "Speed Penalties"
- Customizable ships/racers (looks only. I liked the fact that all the racers were equal meaning that if you took more risks it paid off)
- Original Music (I know its not that much of an issue, but for me it ruins the mood of the game when I know the music is just something you might have had floating around your computer)

Overall a decent game. 3/5

Multiplayer is a valid option, but I am worried about the effort: I am new to multiplayer problems, and I should rent the infrastructure to let player interact each other. But thanks for the suggestion.

I have issues with the level design. It feels like a convoluted Doom 2 level turned on its head. But I won't complain much about that, because higher mouse sensitivity (tighter controls) would bypass the problem.

The original idea was to have more levels, each one created via a different algorithm (different rules, l-system...). But the development of the game took me too much time/effort and at the and I give up this feature.

Instead of ctrl and shift for speed you could maybe change or add same controls to mouse1 and mouse2.
