I don't know how you managed to make my tortoises face make me so happy when he's really happy, and so depressed when he's sad, real emotion in this game.

to get the badge -- really unforgiving (therefore not fun) game - the s key is easier to use than the mouse, as you often get into landing into a series of valleys with no hope of every flying again - so just start, hit s, hit a good ramp, kill some birds, if you miss in the first ten seconds hit R to reset - youll get the easy badge in five minutes

Finished it twice with like 370k points. How do you even get points? Hitting Birds? Perfect Landings? Maintaining Happyness? A little explanation would be helpful.
You get points for distance traveled, perfect jumps, high jumps (but not how long you stay up there), bird bounces (more points for double and triple stomps), mushroom bounces, and bonus time left at the end of the level. And all of the points you earn are multiplied by your current happiness (up to 5x). The method I've had the most luck with is doing a very sharp zig-zag pattern: go up to get the high jump bonus, then go straight back down to land a perfect jump again. Keep up this zig zag pattern and try to get as many perfect and high jumps as you can without letting your multiplier fall below 5x and without sacrificing too much bonus time. Levels 9 and 10 are very difficult and poorly balanced: do your best to maintain your speed and hit birds, don't worry as much about zig-zagging on those levels.

You should add new upgrades and powerups like maybe a slicker or more bouncy shell.. Maybe have the armadillo be able to dig for truffle upgrades? Or maybe just make a sequel period. 5/5
Yup, we've got a sequel in the works! It's got new upgrades, powerups and items, and multiplayer racing. :D We've got some screenshots up over on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/DilloHills

Maybe instead of counting only horizontal velocity for happiness, count total velocity but a little stricter? The rule about horizontal velocity having to be higher than a certain point in order for happiness to not drop kills me in zones 9 and 10, where the jumps provide more vertical velocity than horizontal.

Finnally, a dead game that is actually good. I don't know how the game is dead considering the dev is still here talking.

Restarted after finishing zone 1 with the zone 2 message on screen and was airborne at the beginning of zone 1, might've been holding the down arrow, was able to duplicate the glitch.
Yep, we've solved this glitch for the sequel, but I still haven't been able to tackle it in this engine yet. I'm still looking into it - thanks for the report! :D

Low quality drops the dillo vertically a bit on the menu screen, not sure if it affects gameplay, but I swear I've passed directly through birds a few times, Firefox, Flash, and Win7 all up to date.
From first to last: Wavespark -> Tiny Wings -> Dillo Hills -> Dragon Fly -> A whole bunch of others. We published DH on Android, but haven't pushed it to iPhone since DH1 was so similar to TW and we don't really want to encroach on his turf. DH2 will be available for both platforms, it's different enough that we're comfortable stepping in. :)

Unfortunately, a new visual bug appeared and it is killing me! The character seems to be placed on the lower portion of the hitbox (which makes the armadillo spin really oddly around a nonexistent center) and the characters seem to land and slide below the ground.
Yep, I'm very sorry about that! This game's engine was really, really glitchy and slow. We've switched to a new engine for the sequel, and it's a million times better!

Marchish. It's nearly finished right now, and we're already doing a little internal playtesting over at FGL. Super fun. But the PlayerIO contest doesn't go into judging until February, so we've got lots of time for testing, polish, and extra content. :D

@devilboy96: So every FPS just stole the idea of the dev team that developed the first FPS ever? Same for fighting game, racing etc... It's not because a game has similarities with an other game you've played that the dev stole their ideas.

This is a fantastic game, i love the simplicity and fondness of the game, Its just one of those games you can always love, 11/10 (p.s. the soundtrack is amazing!)

This game is killing me. Every time I'm about to break 400000 the game ends. A max level doesn't belong in a game like this.

well... no originality... it's a good game, but there are so much games like this that play this game or others.... whatever kkkkk

I didn't realize Kongregate supported game developers stealing the ideas of other developers. And don't tell me this came out before Tiny Wings, it didn't. Hill jumps, zone jumps, large hills right before zone jumps, pickups that boost speed... nice try "fexLabs".

I found out that if you tap the down key when the time is starting for the game you are automatically sent to the second area with full happiness.
Yup. Dillo Hills actually came before Dragon Fly, but Tiny Wings came before Dillo Hills, and Wavespark came before Tiny Wings. This mechanic is old as dirt. :D

Am I the only one who is getting massive game breaking glitches? For example I had the texture of the world disappear on the bottom half of the screen in the background and now that I turned down the quality, the Armadillo is floating in the ground a bit lower than usual.
Nope - unfortunately, this game's engine is very glitchy. We've scrapped it and replaced it with a sleek, sexy new one for the sequel. It's a night-and-day difference.

I got really into this game after a while. So into it, that I actually started telling jokes into my monitor to try to cheer up my flyer. And then I got REALLY into it and tickled the screen.
