After 3-x, just it keep on repeating 3-x at higher speeds? I've reached 1.5x and that's about my limit. Was hoping for more fresh tunes... :S

1-X is definitely a pain in the butt, all right... Level 2 adds screen rotations. Level 3 takes out all the fancy stuff and just makes it faster with a lot more precise timing... and lag... a deadly combination. I just beat 3X for the first time tonight, but to get it to NOT lag I had to do a full shut down/reboot, open nothing except for a bare minimal Firefox, go into the task manager and set Firefox and both (?!?) plugin containers to High priority to just barely be able to get it done. Strangely enough, after that, I beat 3-X 1.1 with only 2 attempts. After getting the same kind of crap happening with 1.2 (which really seems more like double speed to me), I'm not going to try advancing to 1.3 or finding out if there's a 4-1 out there anywhere. It's a great game and a really cool concept and music, but the lag/precision combo just kills it for me. 4 stars out of 5. Kill the lag and I'll upgrade it to 5.

Its a very nice game with a great idea.. but.. some rythms arent really.. "in" the game... for example: beginning of 1-x and 3-1, secound 180°turn... thats really hard..
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
honestly the hardest part are the straight lines, coz u keep waiting and expecting something to happen, but nothing does, n u miss your timing, just like that.

I just realized that the description touts this as the second hardest one-button rhythm game. What's the first hardest then? (I would like to play...)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I can't get the game to work. It takes me to the level select screen but hitting the buttons or clicking does nothing.

There are few games that provide just enough challenge to be difficult while not killing me with frustration for failing again and again. 3.X hits that sweet spot. It would be depressing to see statistics on how many attempts it took and how much time I spent playing it, but the satisfaction of completing the level is so so worth it. Fun game, would frustrate myself again. I hope there will be more levels or a sequel in the future, I like this concept!

first time i left a comment for a game, and i put only to say that this game is awesome,i like it very much,i really gona download it for my cellphone XD
PD: 3-X WIND UP (1.4x) its really hard jajaja

Now I just restarted the game because it wouldnt let me past 20% and it loaded me to 1.0x speed :/ I don't want to do that again just to get to 1.2 speed... It loaded to 1.1x speed fine for me last time.
Sorry about that! the extra speeds were really just a bonus so I didn't save their progress. It could be your framerate is too low, but on the next update I'll have an option to put little 'x' marks where you hit it so you can see if you're early or late, cause it's hard to tell when the song is so fast.

The hell, I am getting problems with 3-x 1.2x speed, it doesnt see my inputs or sees them too late... I first suspected I just suddenly sucked at it, but it won't let me past a point I've been several times on 1.2 speed... Need to observe, heh.

Seriously, I am stuck at 1X for like 2 hours. Please, give me some tips.
Also, I am rearranging my calibration to find the right one, but if I close my eyes and listen the beat it's different, if I watch it's different. which one is the right one?
tips: 1) Use the keyboard instead of mouse. 2) close your eyes during the calibration game (press R anytime to recalibrate)! you will also find you can get a better rank in the calibration when you close your eyes. 3) when you calibrate (and then when you play the level), try hitting your key really hard so you can hear the sound of your key being hit. As if you are hitting a drum. Then when you play the level, you can use your ears a lot better, cause you can hear the song beat, and your keyboard, and can hit it so that the sounds coincide. Hope that helps!

I wish the music waited to start for you to hit the first tile rather than the count down. Easily more than half of my losses are just a failure to start.
Haha, if I did that, you wouldn't fail half the time on the first beat, but you would fail all the time on the second beat cause you would have no idea how fast the song was going to be. :P Four counts is standard in music!

I'd like the ability to the listen to the song, or to practice certain parts of it. Going back to the beginning with every mistake is very, very nauseating.
I really want to have a 'section practice' feature, just like you practice a piece of music in real life. But I'm not sure I will implement it soon cause it will be quite complex to do. The tutorials basically serve that purpose, so maybe I'll make it so it can allow you to go back to a tutorial level for that section, but at faster speed.

just finished the game. i liked it a lot more than i thought i would. if i could make one suggestion... i enjoyed playing 3x, but now that i would like to play it again i can only get 3x1.1, now that's not a terrible thing, but i rather liked plain 3x so maybe a level select for once you've finished the game would be cool. unless this is already there and i just didn't see it.

all of the tiles on the main menu color but one... I'm sure I'm the only one who colored them all, but...

One of the rare music/rhythm games on here that has some accuracy to offer! Good job!
I haven't made it to the end yet, but here are some ideas for more varied songs/rhythms/challenges:
1) Have songs with irregular bars, like some 5/8 or 7/8 once in a while to mix things up. It would make the beats become north/south and the syncopations east/west.
2) Make it octogons instead of squares and allow diagonals for funky sixteeth syncopations.
3) Have some hexagon-based levels for some 6/8, 9/8 or 12/8 ternary tracks.
If you want, I coud maybe provide some tracks for a sequel if I'm not too busy when you are getting around to it :)
heheh I'm actually composing a 5/4 piano track right now with 'swing' timing, so the grid is skewed with the vertical lines now being at 60 degrees. I think / hope it's gonna be fun! You have got some great ideas, and I've already been planning for all of them, except the 5/8 which makes north-south become on-beat. That is truly evil haha. There is actually a lot of really cool maths behind the concept - think about how a hexagon or an octagon would sound like, and you'll realise that all regular polygons will fit into an integer number of beats, due to the formula for total internal angles in a polygon: 180 * (n-2). Get in touch if you wanna help me compose!

YOu dies way too easy. I made it through the easy ones quite fast but now I'm stuck on 1-X. maybe yyou cold give us 2 or 3 lifes and make a hard mode with just 1 life?

There are tons of games out there that have the option for user-created levels where they're seriously unnecessary ... I don't think I've ever played a game more deserving of user-created levels than this one! Just a thought :)

Not really sure why the calibration changes while playing. Love this game, want to see more levels. Maybe even covers of well known songs

I must be missing something. All I get is an empty frame when I try to play. Is there a plug-in or Active-X or extension I need to install?
Curretnly trying to run this on Windows 7 64-bit with Google Chrome

this game
it's simple
but really really really really get me addicted
for you who not play this
don't play it
if you don't want to get addiction

The only problem ~I~ found was the incredible lack of progression from the tutorial. You get a fairly slow and easy beat to learn the concept and you are immediately thrown into the first stage with a much faster and more complex rythm
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
That feeling when you click to the rhythm and then suddenly the game restarts, and you know you were clicking correctly...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Note that any button on the keyboard should work except R which will send you to recalibrate. And probably special keys like the windows button (if you have one). I like to use 123 on my number pad for comfort and speed.

uploading all of my best progress to youtube. currently have everything up to 1.6 beaten.

Love the music. The match-the-beat has been done before, but not to navigate a ball through a maze. Nice concept, and execution. What might make everybody stop complaining is if you provide checkpoints which don't save progress, but rather UNLOCK portions of the song to listen to. Not having heard what's coming up next makes pure guessing very difficult and stress inducing. For what it's worth, I still had to look up a video just to hear the 3.x song in full. I still had to match the beats, but I could enjoy it much more... 5/5 regardless. I hope you release more tunes!

To any newgrounder, these songs will bring back nightmares, to new players, prepare to hear 2-X and 3-X in your sleep.
It's interesting to note that new symbols were added to the Kong ver. allowing me to see what's going on and anticipate it rather than memorize. In all honesty, that actually detracted from the fun. Made me feel like I was being hand-held past some of the levels and the game wasn't forcing me to use my memory.
