Its been a while since I've poured hours and hours into a game without badges, even to the point of having curiously warped dreams about enemy distributions. You took Risk--one of the more entertaining boardgames, in my opinion--souped it up, made it shiny and fun to play one player, employed the abilities that playing on a computer grants elegantly, but without overdoing it. You legitimately made it better, as far as I'm concerned. In short, I am supremely impressed that a game with no real graphics, storyline or music can be so engaging and well designed. Cheers! I very much hope this gets badges, even though I'm pretty firmly stuck on the insane challenge

Ahahahaha.... Manitoba consists of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Awesome- I always knew they were just an offshoot of us.

Another big thing is attacking in order of difficulty. The first units to attack get a "luck bonus." You can see how lucky you are on the graphs, though I have no idea what it means. Anyways, pick the big battles first, then the smaller ones. This applies to reinforcements as well. Also, after you commit click on see all and then skip to end this also slightly increases luck.

Muahahaha! I found a new technique. Poke the lion: When you have two territories next to a large enemy group attack the group with 1 unit, then hit em again with the territory you think they are going to attack. This forces the enemy to attack you and lose to your defenses, then your troops on the same turn attack the weakened defenders.

"O.o? How the heck can I get gold star on lvl 1 (must beat it in 6 moves) when it *counts the countries* takes 7 moves to wipe them out no matter how you look at it."

"There's a way to do it in 6.. keep looking :)"

it seems if i choose skip to end there is a bigger chance of lose. i lost many 5x2, and i just lost an 8x2, attacking the neutral, and he not losing any of the 2 army. i'm playing on first map btw

Really really annoyed my game didn't save, I had so much time invested in it. Which is to say, I really like what you've made here, it's elegant, has great AI, conveys information well and quickly; in short it's a great game. I just wish I hadn't lost 3 hours of gameplay :(
I just did a test save and it's working fine. Le sigh.

The guys who did this games pricing scheme did it right. It's not that it's a one time pay as opposed to a subscription or a bunch of micro tansactions. It's that buying something cool, but it doesn't effect game play balance. Games that give paying players an advanage, much less an overbalancing one, scare off non paying players who might one day actualy be paying players. Good job guys.

Couple of things needed to reduce micromanagement imo: some sort of hotkey (ie. space) to close the current window. A hotkey to turn in all cards and close the window. You should look into snapping/docking windows to the side of the stage, having to drag windows that appear off screen is super annoying. Otherwise, very fun and strategic game - always loved risk. If you are going to make a warlight 2 (or expansion pack), a way to fortify your position without giving it away (atleast for a turn or two) would be great imo.

So I've gone and played another three rounds on crazy since my last comment, and the AI consistently targets me much more harshly than other AIs. Ignoring the game where I got sandwiched between the different members of one team, it doesn't seem to matter whether I attack first or even defend my borders heavily or not. Even when they have other targets, they prefer to overwhelm me with massive armies rather than take shots at each other. This last game the enemies even preferred me over untaken territories that would've given them extra armies each turn. I say again, this game direly needs a fairer AI.

Overall an amazing game, well done. But the AI system always see's me as a threat. Everytime I try level 5, I am attacked and surrounded by at least 5 factions each time. Very unfair AI system.

Okay I love this and will sink vast amounts of time into it. One thing, though -- real wraparound scrolling would be great. Policing borders is a real headache when my empire spans the Solomon-Hawaii divide.

The "save game" button is right next to a button that exits the game without so much as a "Yes/No" dialogue. Is... that really a good idea? >_>

Direly needs a fairer AI. Playing crazy right now, just found out about the history option after the game ends (so need a surrender option), and got to see how the AI opponents would throw 2-4 armies at each other (if they attacked the opposing team at all) while throwing 20+ per turn at me. I already felt cheated in each loss before, now even moreso since I know what's going on behind the fog.
The AI doesn't even look at the IsHuman flag - they treat you no differently than they'd treat another AI. They must have perceived you as a bigger threat.

Ugh i had to do levels 1-3 again because my history reset. The first 2 are easy. The third is... but still takes forever
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
this is a sweet version of risk... it turns that game into a quicker and more fun version.. i can tell you put alot of time into this good job!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Odd. I attacked from 1 country with 22 units to his country with 5 units. The turn ended and I had 12 units and he had 1 unit still. Why did my units not keep attacking?

Started playing around 7pm and I was like... well I'll play it for a few minutes... it's now 10:15 I just finished the first 4 maps... and I'm like... damn where did the time go :) great game, keep making cool games like this. 5/5

I put all my troops at my borders, but then my enemies just skip right past them and kill the countries with only 1 troop behind them. =( I wish i could do that.

Lvl 5 seems like every AI is against me then I realized that this is not risk (re-configured my strategies) I finally won!

great game! The only problem i've just see is that to attack/transfer between alaska and kamchatka (russia) is kinda annoying. but excluding that, everything is just perfect!

I've only discovered one way to beat the "Europe" challenge. Aggressively expand eastwards and attempt to disrupt as many bonuses as you can as quickly as you can. Send either all three of the reinforcement pods to your ally (red) or send 2 and save the last for yourself. If you use the first two yourself, you WILL be overrun in no time. Your only chance is to make red distract your enemy while you attack from the west. Hope this helps!

Rember guys it's a multi front game just like risk don't try to power house you forces in one direction. Try to andvance on empty positions (grays) first teh nonce you find the enemy try to
route them from behind wher etheir defence's are low surround them with 3's and 4's and have
your main force of 10+ advance on their main position. thats how you beat the 3rd stage.

Man, ambush troops are super fun lol. Keep 3 troops on pinch points with a nice fat army behind it. Each time the enemy gets ready to attack move the defending troops onto the spot, then pull em back again. Works every time hahaha.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
loved the Europe level maybe you ca make a "campaign" simulating a war or something! Even on a single country with cities and town instead of countries.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
the game is cool and easy to pick up.
also Spain isn't that big (in lvl 3 Spain takes up the whole Iberia space including Portugal). might want to get that fixed.

Is it a bug, when my ally gains automatic control over my just airlifting-spawned 119 armies i accidentally send into a hostile region, which my ally then (something i couldnt see) captures IN THE SAME TURN as i was supposed to, only earlier than me?

This game is quite addictive. More difficult than Risk due to fog of war, takes a while to get the hang of. General playing tips: try to get in the corners and expand from there. Keep the frontlines short. Don't overextend... _except_ you need to launch surprise attacks that strike deep in enemy territory, disrupting their supply lines (read: break up bonus regions). This is especially true for the Europe maps. In free play, choose starting positions close to each other (Iceland/Scandiavia are ideal), secure Britan and Scandinavia quickly, and you can protect all your possessions with just 3 regions (2 in France and 1 in Germany), while expanding in the Northeast. Avoid the central countries until endgame, these tiny regions are a bitch to protect.
