After 1 try, I understand the game. So I do the two end.
Now I want more end and more challenge: 0) Big map with more start of darkness 1) others development of darkness: random, from the middle, ..., 2) a map with more zone each zone as his darkness and his stock. Kill the darkness in one zone authorized to create a road to another zone to start transport of items by boat, vehicle, magical, ... 4) a map with different darkness (blackhole, technological, demonic, ...) each darkness need to be destroy by a special building 5) ...

Might want to remind people that the "slows darkness" is rather useful... Also, is there a tech method of this, or is that magic only?

Noooo! I went for the tech win as a mining city, but ended up getting the resources for a magic win first and locking myself out. Well, time for a third try then :)

Wow! Cool game! Especially for 48h! Lost the first time because when i understood i need magic to get the 'easy' ending i had like 2 shroom villages. Done it easy second time. Stone is huge problem at endgame though! I have like thousands of wood and magic, few hundreds of technology, but stone have dissapeared after i tried to upgrade all tiles. Hope to see this game getting a huge sequiel!

Nice little game. Resource per second indicator would be nice and I think the magic/tech balance could be tweaked but good for a Ludum dare game

It would be nice if there was more than one way to upgrade a tile. Like, at some point, improve a tile as a normal village instead of a magical one, or being able to cut down a forest, or using the science resources to "dig" and create another rock tile, etc.
Oh, and I managed to create more than one tower of light. When the first one was swallowed by the darkness, I could create another one. Is that normal?

At the first time, i was thinking the game would end when darkness eat all the map, then a realized that i have a magic village, then, a magic tower, and... the darkness eated all. But anyway, this game is amazing and awesome, i just think the grass could be a little darker in some place, or have biomes too. But, well, i think this is for another game.

Is it only possible to build a single tower? I have a magical village next to water, but I cannot build anything on water. It is slightly confusing at first, but overall nice 5 minutes game!
Thanks! Yes, it's only possible to build one tower of each type. It's currently not possible to build on water, but I'm working on an update that will make water a bit more useful!

(replying to your reply of my message, which Kongregate doesn't seem to let me do directly) Oh no! I wasn't implying at all that you need an more of a tutorial. In fact, I think that adding one would detract from the game. The first steps are clear enough, and the discovery of what's going on is part of the fun.
Okay, thank you very much for explaining it a bit more! The discovery was definitively meant to be a part of the game, too, so I'm glad you enjoyed that. A few more people asked for a tutorial, though, so I might change/add small things, but I'll definitively not explain everything.

There are two "hidden", or rather unexpected, tile transformations, besides the second endgame building. One is the water tower, which can be built on a field next to a magic village and a water tile. Another is Forest lvl 0, which can be built on a field when it is next to 1 village and 3 forests. Is there any other secret upgrade in the game?

Nice little game, enjoyed it. Interested to see where you can take it. Check out idle kingdoms on android, more idle but similar concept i.e. tiles, resource management, upgrades. Good job FLORI9

Accomplished the Tech ending first, because I felt building that city right next to the Stone Circle would be more satisfying. (Hee!) Nifty nifty little game! The little bursts of discovery really fed my "must go see" lizard brain, then the master surveyor in subsequent games as I try to figure out how to link the really special buildings with the random terrain I'm given. Would love to be able to use the water a bit more (maybe just the coastal spaces?). 5 Stars!
Hi Lustre, I made this game a week ago so I wouldn't think so! It was uploaded on itch.io a few days earlier than here, so maybe you played that version. Maybe there is a game similar to this that you played before.

pretty easy i figured out how to win both times in my two play throughs the one issue i have is that random generatedd land might encourage one ay to win over another

Woo, got both endings. It's a good game, and the darkness does a good job of being threatening and intimidating without being impossible, or even all that difficult, to beat. The magic ending is significantly easier, and I'm not totally sure that the scientific ending is even possible in all map configurations. In any case, it's usually a good idea to build a tower even if you're going for the scientific ending, since it slows down the darkness and all.
If I was gonna make a suggestion, I'd say allow the player to transform forests into fields somehow. Makes it easier to get cities going, and makes it easier to build around the mining village so you can upgrade it, which otherwise isn't always possible.
I didn't run into many especially unique buildings, except for the Water Tower, which was neat - I'm not totally sure what the prerequisites are for that, but I thought it was cool when the option showed up. More things like that would be cool.

Honestly, pretty disappointed in this game. It is so random as to be unplayable. Sure, it is mean to be short. But not so short as to cause you to give up before you begin. Building generation seems to have nothing at all to do with what resources are around it, as I have had regular villages show up when surrounded on three sides by rocks, and mining villages that will not fully upgrade because they are pinned in a corner, surrounded by water. 2/5 for creativity of idea, but that's being generous.

Nice, short game, with a surprising amount of replayability! I would request at least a list of the possible structures, even without giving hints as to how to build them. But mainly I just think more of whatever you're doing - this is a great start!
Technology (and the second win condition) is a bit harder to get and use, so I completely understand! If you want a hint: the main thing is upgrading the mining village. There's also another way to get technology, but you may have found it already and otherwise I think you'll figure it out!

Very good game, my only criticism is that stone production should be slightly increased (or make cities cost less for level 2) I was trying to max everything in freeplay but the city level 2 just costs an insane amount of stone :P One fix would be making city level 2 increase nearby stone production to 100% instead of 50% Really good game though, you are a great dev!

Does anything change with restart (other than the map?) Also like to see the post win build as a bit more interesting (i.e. more upgrades.) Finally does anything ever happen with the water?

in my opinion needs a more enlightening tutorial . bonus addition I would like could include a resource/minute I get . other than that I enjoyed it a lot and has a replay value for sure so it's a 4/5 with great potential !

I had the same experience as Olug -- I was just clicking around, without any real goal in mind other than upgrading a few things. I saw the message at the tower, that it slows the darkness, but didn't really focus on it until I realized that the map was smaller than it had been. Whoa! So THAT's the darkness! I was able to beat it, but was down to about 6x6. It was surprisingly fun for such a simple thing. Thanks! One thing I did want was an indicator of my total rate per minute for each element, but overall a well-constructed game.

Nice game but tutorial is a bit short. First game i was like 'I have no idea what i'm doing'... Also it could be nice to know about the upgrading path. For example why is this forest upgrading into a forest lvl 2 while the other one is upgrading to a treetop village.
Anyway, this game has a lot of potential i believe, i will be following.

By the time I figured out what was going on, I was concerned I had taken too long to defeat the darkness, but I pulled it off. Question, what is the yellow beaker? Also, top left corner says I need to upgrade around to finish upgrading, but everything touching it is maxed.
Thanks for playing and commenting!
The yellow beaker is for "technology", which is used in the second way to win.
If by "upgrade around to finish upgrading" you mean the hint "Try building more nearby.": it's shown on villages that need more (one or two, depending on the type of village) fully upgraded villages around them to upgrade. It may not be possible to upgrade that village if there's too little space for villages nearby. I agree that's not very clear right now, so I'll probably update the game soon to change this along with any other minor problems.
