I think the reason why people can get stuck on the final boss fight is because they expect the pawns to immediately capture the knight after you take one of the pawns in the V formation.

Tight little game. Pawnbarian had some more to offer, but this one is a nice quickie: not really tough, but enjoyable for sure. Nice battle music and final showdown :)

Amazing game. Little bit tricky time to time but it is a good quick game to play that tests your brain. Ending whew* that was fun and thrilling. Good Job Developer

I like the puzzle aspect of trying to figure out the route to get where you need to go, not really a fan of the fights, I felt like I was just randomly moving around in the hopes the opponent makes a dumb mistake.

After the fight with the other knight on the two square boards, I cross the "bridge" and end up on the upper board which looks a bit like a hard and can't move anywhere else except back. Am I missing something? Didn't something trigger correctly? I'm pretty sure I beat every enemy along the way..

When I first started the game, when sounds played they would have a harsh transition. Like when you immediately switch from one sound file to the next.

Just wanted to say, really nicely designed game. No tutorial, nicely scaled up challenge curve, fun control feeling, new twists added throughout the game. A pleasure to play - thanks for making it.

Idea for a sequel: On some boards, have a white pawn move down a column each turn. If it reaches the bottom, it turns into a Queen and blocks your path. You have to solve the level in a limited number of moves to beat the pawn before it boxes you in.

This game is awesome, I already know that psychedelics Horse- I mean Knight-errant is going on my top 10 favorite games this month!

I tried the game again, both times i needed to move away from the area with the pawns before the black pawn would move and become queen, i dont know if it is normal or not
That's not normal. We're trying to track this bug down now: could you please submit a but report with details of the bug and how you got past it?
EDIT: The bug has been fixed. Thanks for your help in tracking it down!

Quite the journey! Had to pause and think my way through the final battle (well, it's chess after all). That was a lot of fun!

Brilliant concept, had me thinking where best to move next to take out the enemy but like lukard said had the same bug involving the final room's ending not triggering properly until after I went back to the black square before that section. I think it might have happened because I managed to kill the queen first before the pawns. Either way the game was still fun

Good game, very funny and original 5/5. I think there is a little bug: I have killed the queen in the last 'room' where there is the king. After the queen was killed nothing happened and to trigger the movements of the last piece I had to return back
Had you captured all of the pawns? If so, feel free to send a private message with more details so we can try to reproduce the bug.
EDIT: Okay, it looks like this is indeed a genuine bug. If you find conditions that cause it to happen, please let us know with a bug report so we can reproduce it.
EDIT 2: The bug has been fixed. Thanks for your help in tracking it down!

Nice, very enjoyable concept, I remember there were newspaper puzzles like that, where a knight had to move through some maze stepping on predefined squares only once, can't find it anymore. The only similar thing is Lichess knight tutorial, but it's very simplified.
Battles with AI pieces are a bit weird, it feels like it's impossible to win until the AI blunders take in one. But I guess if you put some sort of evaluation function the game would become unbeatable or would require a lot of work to figure a way to make a map with forced take combination.

I didn't think a boss fight in chess would work, and i'm not a big fan of "puzzle bosses", but that ending was great. 5/5
Maybe there's a deep lesson to be had here about the need to rely on others to overcome our own limitations........or maybe I just thought it would be cool to put queening a pawn into the game.
