I reported this but showing it here so Dev can see it: I can no longer attack contested planes for the sake of my faction.

With respect to the game itself, I really liked it. It was a good twist on the classic trader game (like Caravaneer) and I enjoyed the novelty of the combat. If there were any flaws, it would be the difficulty curve - the difficulty really depends on how good your ship's fittings are. Once you have good fittings you will never lose. Overall, I'd say 4.5/5 (which I will round up). Tres bien!

Tips and tricks: the "Evil" (Bogodarth/Shroud/Heyenikon) ship equipment is slightly faster and has more armor, which gives it better performance. Also, the last question in the pirate's quiz is a trick and there is no way to find out the actual age.

And perhaps give the players ways to use money in the late-game: investments in the market or even planets, building stations or supporting groups?

This game has a really huge potential!
Though it's not exactly finished yet =p (I don't know about Light or Dark, but the Balance "negotiations" quest after giving or selling the cube seems to never end)
So! aside from combat being too simple. (perhaps add a speed factor to weapons and make enemy ships strength randomized/scaling with level)
I think it could use a bigger map, more encounter types (like merchant ships, or explorers who want to trade info or whatever) and a few additional functions like, fill fuel automatically.
In any case, I'll continue cheering you guys up =)

I really enjoyed the game, but there are still several weakpoints, basically what Badok already said. Combat is overall way too easy and also a bit monotone, storyline is not very compelling and quests could be more varied.

the fighting sucks!!!! heating system takes way to freaking long to cool down ffs. seems like they never over heat and the are firing none stop

Maybe I missed this in the tutorial, but what exactly is the difference between a classic landing and a quick landing?

It would be nice if, arriving to a planet in dispute, you could choose which part of the enemy fleet you want to engage, so for example you could fight level 3 cruisers for a bigger alignment deviation (and more fun). The final enemy could be more powerful than a level 3 ship
Hello Chaflan, thanks for playing the game and for your suggestion, we're thinking of something along these lines yes... working on fixing save/load issues for everyone first, tho.

Shrewd enemies should be able to surprise you and attack from random directions. Not all enemies should have an attack pattern of 120º clockwise every single time lol
sorry for the inconvenience blitzscythe :/ we're trying to figure out why it happens for some players. Making sure everyone can access SR:G is our top priority.

Well, while the game itself is quite fun, it gets tired pretty fast. After getting upgrades the combat ranges from "easy to the point of auto-win" to "easy, but annoying" with three star enemies. Economic layer is fun as well, but you quickly run out of quests (and get filthy rich very easily). Combine theese with (let us be honest here) rather weak storyline and we get a not-so compelling game.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed playing it - especially the graphics are neat - but there's still a lot of place for enchancement here. Some thought on a more varied battle system, deeper storyline and we're golden. Hope to see it in your next games!

What's the advantage of a lvl 2 engine? It greatly decreased my flight range when I bought one and as far as I can tell that's one of the most important things for a trader to have. Is it better for fighting or something else?

I love everything about the game except the real-time aspect of it. I didn't realize this until the game ended without me having done anything. I played the game for a while then went away to do stuff. When I came back the game had ended and I had won! Not much sense of accomplishment there since I did basically nothing to end the war except not participating in it. Beautiful game though. Just needs a bit of tweaking. At the very least the game should pause if you don't do anything for 20 seconds or so.

How do you fulfill contracts? I've taken stuff to the planets that need them and it still shows a contract exists.
I just took a full load of livestock to a planet and nothing happened.

If there could also be a bank to help those who get stuck on planets with no money, that would be nice too. ie accept a loan of _____money now and pay said loan + interest, interest proccing for every time you travel untill you pay it off, it would be nice

There are a few typo's for the cube of darkness event. After you first accept it there is a word (atleast if you do it nicely?) he indicates you the location of Saru Sam'l "et" how to reach it. another typo in same paragraph is you "know" are the owner of a sinister cube. Another problem is that i went to jasper and only reached it because of a ship wreck, and after i got there it disappeared ;l. i went to higut but still stuck. i noticed that if i refresh it will load where i was but the shipwrecks change locations/spawn. if those 2 issues could also be fixed (ie astroid in between or something) id like :D. as for me ill w8 for a ship wreck that will let me travel back

This is a fun and well-written game, but I have the same problem -- battles don't work -- which is usually no problem (click on hyperspace and the game continues) but it seems I can't finish the treasure hunt because I can't fight the escaping pirate?
Also: I am out of quests after visiting all planets. What happens next? It seems like the story has ended (nothing happened) and I'm just flying around.

Nice Game, unfortunenately I couldnt fight any space fights but in the intro. (Ubuntu, Firefox). As soon as I got into a fight there was only some "loading"-screen showing a crosshair, spaceship and four buttons in the lower right corner (Hyperspace, Flight, ...). The "loading"-screen stayed and I could only progress by jumping back in hyperspace.
Another thing was, that sometimes the storyevents didn't trigger when selling goods on a planet. Saving prior sale, reloading the page and selling the the goods again worked though.
Nevertheless - nice game. Would love to see more business/ building like in the X-Series to keep the long term motivation once you got all ship parts.

Thr Dark story line is a bit demotivating. Hardly any of the Dark offers are tempting/rewarding enough. And there is serious lack of Respect both from the police of the Darkside as well as the Boss, which makes me question why I should bother working together with or even for them.
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the inconvenience. We're on it and the previous proofreader has been assigned a new mission on Bogotarh. That should motivate the new one properly.

This game is kind of fun, but a bit repetitive. All you do is fly back and forth a lot. The foundation is good, but is there some angle that would make it more immersive, interesting, and unpredictable?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Yeah I think medicines should really be removed from the list of things banned in dark worlds. Its plain dumb, even the ban on artwork makes more sense (blasphemous idols or whatever). Anyway the list of dark-banned articles is too long already

EXCELLENT game! It reminds me of the old game "Elite", but with a plot. I see many ways you can build on this game and expand it. Perhaps more add ons to the ship? Asteroid quests? Later in the game when you have lots of money, perhaps something where the player can set up their own base? Great game, great concept, great playability. For a BETA, this is FANTASTIC
