Hey Greg I'm at the first rite of passage part 13/21 and I don't know what to do, English is not my first languaje so please help me.

Hey Gregory, when is the update coming? There is not too much to do except fighting now... But when I can one hit every single enemy it's getting boring.

can somebody give me the answer to the first rite of passage 13/21? i dont know what i am doing wrong :/ it would be nice if it had hints if you fail a lot of times
I'm online! Create a private var named userInput, of type number, and set it equal to 50. Don't forget the semciolon! private var varName:Number = value;

What ! I love this game. Have not programed any thing in a long time and you do a great job of teaching wonder if online schools would buy this as a class app.

I really hope this gets a second part.... I'm getting really excited about everything I have learned so far. THANK YOU!!!

Elite rite of passage 9/15 i cant seem to get it no matter how much i try. I thought it would be trace("Coins: "coins); but no, any help?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
private var youUpdateGame; if (youUpdateGame == true) { iHappy(); } else { trace("I cry"); } /* Where is the continuation? D: */

You could make an option to skip battle animations. After seeing them once they become a bit boring. Especially if someone wants to farm some battles to get more money/exp (not that I had to). Great game btw. Hope you keep working on it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
you should attempt to make an answer checker that allows for more leniency. in certain parts of the game you could make it not care whether the player uses ++, +=1, or = variable + 1.

This is easily going on my top 10 favorite games. I want to be a programmer when I get older and this really gave me a taste of what I'll be doing. I might just make a game if you release version two *hint hint*

As a programmer, one update that I would make is not to teach new programmers to rely on default values. Variables should always be explicitly initialized to provide clarity for future maintainers.

@overweightcow The trick for the elite quiz part 8 is that he wants the display to be in the correct order. What your code displays is "3Lives: ". You have to reverse the addition so that the display will properly show, "Lives: 3". Hope that helps.

After finishing the game I want to thank you for the afford of creating this great game/tutorial and I hope there will be an update soon. Its a great serious game even so you should work on the graphics ^^. There are so many free graphic packs out there, you should find some nice things you can add.

Could anyone write a solution to rite of passage part 15::Write a line of code that would double the value of userInput. I really don't know how to do this and it's probably easy

I truly have fun while playing that game! One thing would be nice: A back button or something. When I start the tut by accident once again, I have to play it through... or do I miss something there?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The graphic should be fixed so the game look more professional. But the idea is awesome. And i love that you learn
I think that you accidentally put an extra quote mark:
Part 5/9 Concatenation
4 private var stringFour:String = stringOne + " " + stringTwo ";
Should it really be a quote mark on the end?
+ stringTwo ";
should it not be:
+ stringTwo;

@ OverweightCow: Because the text says "Lives: " and the Number is 3. Think once again about correct order, should be not so hard...

in your first section of elite training, under page 3/7, while describing how careful you have to be with strings, you have this typo: "Do you remember whitespace? Whtespace is gaps in your code..." with the type being the missing "I" in the second "whitespace" ;) I'm honestly not sure if you were intentionally trolling us there, or if it's actually a typo! :D

This is a fun way to learn programming, I hope you will make more in future, because I actually love playing this game plus I learn some new stuff/refresh my mind from what I've learned before.

Part 8 of the Elite quiz I cannot figure out still. Neither could my programming friends. I got private var livesDisplay:String = lives + livesText;
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There seems to be a little mistake at "More Conditional Practice" Part 5/7 - the task says to print "Do not display medal" to the output window which at least I interpret to print the quotation marks, too. The correct answer in contrast doesn't contain extra quotation marks.

Quick typo to note- Part 4/7 Strings has a typo ()<- last part of the parentheses is there but not the first one. Not a big problem, really like the game!

Datguy5, you need to write a line of code that adds the tree variables together. it will look like this: totalBill = totalBill + taxAmount + tipAmount; Does this help?

I've tried learning a number of programming languages online, (JS, HTML, Ruby, etc.) and you made the most user-friendly way to learn to code. The incentive of virtual money and new attacks really makes the user want to finish more. Thanks!

This game is one of the few "tutorials " that are acually rewarding and fun!!!! I love this game. I have Flash Pro CS6 but i never really learned flash yet!!! This game is awesome!!!! Thank You!!!! BTW know C#,C++,JavaScript,and UnityScript and GameMaker Language!! Thank YOu AGain

I know, but it doesn't say if you're supposed to put the first part or not. I got that concept, but I doubt everyone will. Part 8 of the elite quiz I can't beat too, I don't think I am doing it wrong.

Thank you so much, Gregory. I've been looking for something like this. It's much easier to learn something if someone just talks normally and explains it to people rather than force them to a book or a website that makes it so complicated to understand. And it helps that you put it into a game too!

There is one subject that I missed in the lessions which often causes bugs. It's precedence order of operators. At some times I was not sure if my answer was right when logical and mathematical operators got mixed up. Later on even logical operaters (== and &&) were mixed. Since you are already speaking about brackets and indention and stuff I think it would be a good idea to at least mention the possible issues. (Personally I would give it a complete lesson when introducing the second set of operators.)

There are some typos in the last few lessons. I did not write them down since I did not take notes since I'm a java programmer. Up until now the game is more an introduction to writing c++-style code and doing this quite nicely. However I would have loved to get some real information about how to write flash games.
I like the idea of the game, even if it is a lot of text. I would have liked it more, if the fightes were more about programming themselves, not only a round-based button-clicking game. Maybe some harder questions that have to be answerd in time, the difficulty or number of the questions depending on the level of the enemy. To be honest I loved it more to extinguish the burning houses than to fight the enemies.
