@ OverweightCow
"Close this" Meaning close the Brackets, Meaning they're already opened, as you can see. It doesn't say to create them, or open and close them, just close them.

I breezed through it in a little under an hour, Knowing a little bit of C++ and C, But great so far, Although I'm wondering If there is some kind of massive jump between knowing the theoretical Parts, and actually implementing it?

"While playing this game, you may earn virtual currency ($) and items. By playing this game, you acknowledge that all in game items and currencies have no “real world” value and do not imply any “real world” value."
LOL?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I think you should specify if you want us to put the entire code or if you want us to put part of it. Like when I was first starting out "Close this [{(" And I put "[{()}]" and got it wrong.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
in Part 5/9 of Concatenation you have
4 private var stringFour:String = stringOne + " " + stringTwo ";
isn't the last " wrong? or am I misunderstanding something

I learned a lot, I literally sat for 3 hours straight and got from the beginning to the end. I was hooked. I even considered trying to write some code to help you out after I learned how to use && so that you could accept multiple answers for some of the questions!

I'm giving this game 5 stars. This would have been very helpful when I first learnt programming. I may not agree with the identation (I prefer to put "{" in their own lines, but to each its style. I hope you continue to make this game :D
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I like this game due to its repetition to really get stuff into your head and how it uses an "RPG" to make you play the game over and over just to get stuff for your protagonist. Graphics don't even matter!

I think I'm just tarding out for a minute but I cannot get the answer for part 11 on the Rite Of Passage in the training center. Can someone please help me? Thanks!

private var myFirstString:String = "text"; keeps giving me error and my char ragequited. What's wrong with the syntax?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Definitely need to finish this. I would love to code even the dumbest of games in this tutorial. This is brilliant. I'm addicted.

As someone from a culture where tipping is not standard, I found the first tip calculator section quite unclear. I didn't know whether taxAmount was the extra due to tax, or the total amount after tax. I also didn't know whether tipAmount was calculated from the original bill or price after tax.

I suppose there isn't a precise consensus on the definition of 'whole numbers'. I think of it as numbers without fractions or decimals, which includes negative numbers. Either way, I consider the term 'natural numbers' to be more apt for describing uint.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Alectric, if I am not mistaken, the set of whole numbers is {0, 1, 2, 3, ...}, which uint (unsigned integer) denotes. Type int includes negative numbers.

Gregory, you should fix the bug that makes antivirus software won't heal the character, and please keep updating this great game, 5/5 for you buddy
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
At the end of the elite training zone: "You might have finished this path, but true me, your quest is just beginning." ...should be 'but trust me'.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
int (not uint) denotes the set of whole numbers. You might want to use that as a more concise description of the integer type.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
"Those of you with a math background will recognize uint as being the set of whole numbers" ...I think you mean 'natural numbers'.

10/5, should make more. I love games and puzzles that teach you how to program. Games are the most fun way to learn in my opinion. It's too bad there can't be a game for every subject. :P
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
In "Logic Operators part 4" you can drop the 'if'(and the apostrophe) from "Look at the statement, and determine if its value by typing true or false."

Surprise screen needs an update. The code is not:
private var SURPRISE_SCREEN:String = ("You finished " + gameName + " version " + versionNumber + "!!!")
In normal comment form. Surprise starts with:
You finished Programmer RPG version 1.0!!!
Instead it should starts with this for version 1.2:
You finished The Programmer RPG version 1.2!!!

Also, "increment variableName down by one (subtract one from it)" should really say "decrement variableName by one ..."

5 stars. I want to see more games that teach programming, and I think it'd be a cool way to learn anything really. I think games can make learning an addictive and fun experience!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
for some reason I cant get past basic programming math pt.5 I type in
private var characterNumber * = 10; but it wont accept it am I just stupid cause I have tried this many time
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
And part 10 of the same section has a typo in "calculate."
On the plus side, this is an amazing tutorial that is holding my interest.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
In "Building a tip Calculator" part 6 you left off the variable type Number off... well, see if you can find it yourself!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Why did my progress disappear? i saved before i retuned. i guess icould use the extra practice, but its still kind of a pain i was in the logic area..
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Decent tutorial for new people. But you should have more than one option for somethings. For instance, make it possible to use += instead of var = var + number. That kind of thing
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm loving this game so far. Found a quick typo though, tip calculator 2 part 3/9 "there is more than way to solve a problem"
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Disregard my previous comment about a glitch... I was misunderstanding the instructions lol, I thought I was supposed to put it in syntax...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Ok I think I've found a glitch... Part 1 of variables and math... 10 plus 20 is thirty, thirty divided by two is 15, but I've got it in, and it's the right format, but it's not excepting the answer...
