It's January 4, WHERE IS THE UPDATE!?!??!?! So, due to family obligations, I need an extra 2 days to code the update. It should be here on January 6. When it is released, I'll send out a game message so that you don't have to keep checking back. Stay tuned and thanks for your patience!!! :)

You forgot an "i" in whitespace part 3/7 Strings Elite Training thought id point that out while I give you 5 stars because I now know how to fix it. (Never knew any of this stuff) thanks for the knowledge GregoryCalson your a great teacher.

I love to see a game where even after 2 months, the Dev is still commenting on posts and continuing to give us status updates~

david_radu: Before Gregory implemented this pretty health counter, the only way to check if you are close to ragequitting was to click it and think "Does it look like a very, very angry alien or can I play one more level before buying health restore?" :)

I didn't think this game could get any more awesome than it was. I was wrong.
Too bad I can't do much more than my earlier 5/5 and fav, so I think I'll place it in my playlist and finally start making a game. Now all I need is an art making RPG xD

Am i the only one who noticed that, if you click in the line between health and the experience bar...appears the player's face? ._."
A bit scary for me the 1st time, because i had 1 health and i saw the guy hlaf-dead xD

pfuu man and somebody else got this problem as well , Gregory I know u wanted us to make our first program but as how English is not my main language I find it hard to understand all that Math with Tip Calculator.
So right now I am stucked at 4/9 tip Calculator Part 2 , someone help pls if u made it
The answer to that section is: totalBill+=tip*totalBill; Within a few months, after I have developed more of the game, I hope to recruit some translators so that we can make the game in many different languages. Thanks for playing and stay tuned!

I don't think its a problem that u can copy paste some of the answers. That made me wonder how do u make it so things can't be copied? is that in the programming or is that something else?
yep. when you program in flash, you can make a textfield be "selectable" or not "selectable." I chose the latter in case anyone wanted to copy and paste the text into notes.

Excellent game so far, one thing I'd suggest though is making it so you can tell if you beat a level without a mistake. Like maybe you'll have a gold medal on it or something. I plan on perfecting this game before programming, so it'd be nice if you created a way to keep track. Anyway, thank you so much for creating this.

wtf man , what to write at Rite of the Passage on the 8th Part just look: Part 8/21 Rite of Passage
Good work. Declare a variable called enemyStrength, with type uint, and set it equal to 100.
...and I wrote " private var enemyStrenght:uint = 100; " and it doesn't work wtf , Help pls

I'm stuck on Part 3/7 Variables and Math, everytime I try to enter 13, it is incorrect, everytime I try thirdVariable = 13;, that is incorrect, everytime I try 5 + 7 = 13, that is incorrect. WHAT IS THE ANSWER?!

Part 6/7 Functionception: We have *a ways* to go before we get there though. You might want to remove the 'a' or change it to something else entirely.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Part 3/7 Beginning Function Syntax: It is optional (but encouraged) in real life, but in this game it is *manditory*. Should be 'mandatory'.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Part 1/5 Introduction to Functions: Although I love logic and declaring variables and *and* writing strings. Not sure if you wrote 'and' twice intentionally or not.

Hint: before going into the Training Zone for the first time, spend all of your money. You won't lose 50 to the person who says that he wants to take the bus, but actually just wants your money.

Part 2/11 Else: *They* way this code works is that if the condition in parenthesis is true. Should be 'The'. I'll keep looking for more typos so you could fix them.

English 101:
To prevent further confusion about the symbol/symbols. A symbol is something that represents something else. if 1 candle on the table means that the table is not meant to be cut in half then 3 candles are symbols(someone wanted to be extra sure), however if 1 or 2 candles have no meaning but only 3 candles mean that the table shouldn't be cut in half then these 3 candles are a symbol(singular!). Same goes with '//' and '*/'. '//' is a symbol for a comment, '/' is a character but not a symbol for comments.

I'm getting impatient, Greg. Where's the update?! I need to feed on lessons!!!
if (gregoryCarlsonUpdatesGameWithinTheMonth==false){
private var gamerboySuicides:Boolean=true;
}
oh no! Well, I'm spending most of my time on a new project right now. I do intend to update this game again though, but the holidays make it challenging. How about this, I promise to have an update (of at least 150 lessons) by January 4.

Gregory, I hope you don't take people like that seriously. You have a great game and a gift for teaching difficult and confusing subjects. Keep it up!

I don't think Phaytle was loved by his mom. He has a lot of anger and a need to prove himself right. Sounds like a 13 year old trying to be an authority.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Phaytle I downvote because it was obvious that someone says "to start a single line comment you must use the symbol //" and then you write "/" you shoudn't expect it to be the right answer. And just to be clear: "foggat" and "duohce" are both mistakes.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
You should just let me check the English in this, the first training exercise has so many errors in itself that I it would take too much time just posting each one here for you to correct.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
//" is two symbols and "*/" is two symbols. so if asked the questions what is the SYMBOL at the beginning of a comment, "/" is the correct answer, not "//". and when asked the question what is the SYMBOL at the end of a comment, the correct answer is "/", not "*/". unless there is a special programming keyboard somewhere that contains both of those characters on one key, then I could see // and */ being called -A- symbol. Idiots don't like criticism because they don't use it to learn and will down vote this. I program for a living and have proved my statement correct in real life, so down vote if you want to be a dumb foggat duohce, I'm actually helping.

I like the silliness in the game. It subverts how it seems like all the books and programming classes have to be super serious just because programming seems like a serious job.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I really enjoyed this, I love learning new things, and even if the game is a bit silly, you made it interesting enough to keep my attention. A suggestion, perhaps make the lessons a bit more interactive to the story instead of just having the battles on the side that are completely optional. Might make things flow a bit better. Still, I really did enjoy this and I feel like I learned a lot, looking forward to the update.

I am not sure how a game gets nominated for badges. I did install the Kong API though. I'd be willing to clean up the necessary code to allow badges (make them more secure), but I think a Kong admin has to approve them or something. Some day (in the distant future) I'll add lessons to teach you how to add the Kong api to your own game, but that is a while down the road.

Hey, Gregory, ludobox.com has the programmer rpg on their site at http://www.ludobox.com/game-the-programmer-rpg
did you give them permission for this?
Nope, the only website that I "locked" the game to for now is Kongregate. Unfortunately, some website will just take/steal your game and there isn't much I or Kongregate can do about it. That is just the reality for simple flash games. It's not all bad though, because it gives me a topic to write about in a future lesson heh heh. By the way, thank you for noticing and for alerting me to it, I really appreciate that!
