In Loop Volcano Part 3/16 Rite of Passage
How many times will the following loop run? Write your answer as a number, like 5. If the loop is an infinite loop, type infinity.
1 for (var i:uint = 0; i = 7; i++) {
The question should be "for (var i:uint = 0; i' sign and this is a big mistake :|

Part 3/16 Rite of Passage: For/While Volcano
I believe the loop command should read:
1 for (var i:uint = 0; i was missing for the exit conditional

Part 3/9 "For Loop Practice"
You never mention what word to use in the trace statement requested. I had to click on "Hint" to realize the word you wanted was "number".

In "The Math Class" section of "The Math Zone". The first stage "1. The Math Class" on part 2/5 the question incorrectly leaves out the function call. I believe it should read as follows: 3 private var myNumber:Number = Math.abs(-250);

I have been waiting several months for an update. If I didn't accidentally mouse over the My Kong tab on the website header and saw that Gregory Carlson was playing the Programmer RPG, I might've completely forgotten about this game. May the update be righteous. P.S. Greg, you didn't mention anything about do...while loops in the Loop Lavalands. (Since you didn't update, I've been taking material off other sources.) I hope you teach us about interacting with the screen. All I know how to do is produce calculations and make a bitmap image come up on the stage. I also don't believe you discussed Packages, much about Objects and Instances or instantiation. I took some help from a tutorial by a guy named Tom Auger who writes similarly to the Programmer RPG. But all he came up to was teaching how to bring "Hello World!" on the Output Screen and show a bitmap image that I made on the Stage. P.P.S. What's a Sprite object?
Thanks for this. The next update will talk about images on the screen and hierarchy. I am working for a Congressional Candidate and hope to have more lessons when the election is over (November 4). In the meantime, look up the following keywords to learn more: sprite, movieclip, gotoAndStop(); flash hierarchy; addChild(); removeChild();

I have learned in a day what would have been weeks of material to study and understand. An Awesome and Informative game.
Schools should hire you to create training Apps for studying programs; everything you need to know in one game, starting from the very basics to the most complex of lessons, that would be an interesting development to the world!

Strings and Variables 4th part, Pls help, what am I doing wrong.
private var displayMoney:String = userMoney + dollarSymbol;

Did anyone else notice that for the 7/9 in conditionals for the conditional junction the last thing you were to type in was something like "I will learn variables, OR ELSE."? So punny :)

My charachter gave up and rage quit? More like I gave up and rage quit. In lesson 5, basic math, I F*CKING ENTERED myVariable += 75 Andit didnt let me move on to the next one. Im gonna try it once more, with a semicolon,but I doubt that will help. I swear I will rate this 1 star if this doesnt work. I even used a hint and the hint practilly told me the answer. What a useless game....

Amazing game! I noticed a little grammatical error in the first level in the Elite Zone (Strings): At 3/7, it writes "Whtespace is gaps in your code..."

Just a note, I found a small grammatical error on pert five of the Conditional Basics lesson. The text says "... You will see why when you code gets very long, ...", and the second you in it should be your.

For those interested, a domain of a function is the inputs the function can take. For example, I can tell that my function's input can be number which are greater 67. The codomain or range of a function is the list of all the possible outputs. For example, if f(x) is defined as x^2 + 4, then the range of f(x) <= 4, as the lowest possible value that can come as the output is 4.

considering the rite of passage on loop lava land I believe the level 3/16 has a typo: "for (var i:uint = 0; i = 7; i++) {", the answer is 8. I think there's a typo and a < is missing, so it should be i <= 7

What a wonderful labor of love. You'd make a fantastic computer science professor/teacher if you aren't already one. The learning curve is just right, and I really wish I had enough to money to hire you to just make these forever. Awesome job.

Thanks for the wonderful teaching. In return someone should make a similar RPG with the theme "How to use MS Paint" properly. : ) (I'm just joking)

I really am happy you made this. This is my first programming language, and I plan to learn
C++ soon. If you know that code, please make a game on writing it.
Thanks again,

Good news everyone. After a long hiatus, I wrote 50 lessons today. I'll start writing little updates here about my progress every day.

I lost my first level due to both my own cockiness and the space in between the $ and the cash you have. I tried to be clever, and wrote: private var displayMoney = dollarSymbol + " " + userMoney;

I dont understand how to put things on the stage. Is there an update coming that will explain this, or did i miss it in the game? Love this game, look forward to more of it!

This game is awesome! I've been programming for a long time now so the lessons were pretty easy. I just have fun programming! I don't have enough use for this skill in my daily life so it's nice (albeit REAL nerdy) to program for fun. Keep it up! P.S. I think I might show this to my advisor in my grad program. I think undergrad programming students would benefit from it's simplicity.

In Logic Land on lesson Logic Operators, AND, part 4, part of the last sentence is (determine if it's value by typing true or false.) Just pointing out a typo people don't rage. Awesome game btw :D/5

I could be wrong, but part 3/16 of the Loops Rites says
for (var i:uint = 0; i = 7; i++) {
The answer is it runs 8 times.
i = 7 is false from the start so it will never become true, so I think the condition is supposed to be i <= 7 ?

In your simple maze game, you said that you had the source code for the game on your website. I did not see it on the website. Would you mind putting it back on, or did you take it off for a reason? Thanks

I was wondering how I can keep my data from getting erased. I'm going to clean out my computer and don't want to delete this along with everything else. Can you please explain a simple way I can get my save data? Thanks!
Unfortunately I do not have a good way, since the data is stored in a cookie. Until I learn how to set up a server and write a flash api, I have to do it this way. I did create the "unlocked mode" so that you can skip to the world that you were on. Hope that helps.

Pal, your website used to include an "extra challenge" didn't it?? Now it's just a poll thing with no hyperlinks to other pages or anything. Refer to Math Zone-The Math Class-6-last.

This game is awesome. Such a sweet idea. I've got my fingers crossed for Stage Valley coming out soon! Is the game still being developed?

PLEASE, I'd say I had the trouble all the way from Training Zone to math Zone. That is, unless you carefully think about which level you have done, it's easy to mistakenly click into the last level you completed (rather than last unlocked i.e. the "next" level). Maybe graphically there should be 3 states of level icons - locked, unlocked, completed. There will be only one "unlocked" at a time in a zone, which is the "next level".
