since clicking as fast as i was was giving me pain in the wrist i downloaded an auto-clicker. now this game is easy but may lag a bit if i am upgraded have enemies and set it on the highest possible speed. the badge would not have been worth it for me if i hadn't downloaded the clicker though. although i'm still not a big fan personally, the later games in the series are a lot better.

If you want your own autofire, download AutoHotKey and create a new script with this code:
#p::
Pause
Return
#c::
Loop
{
MouseClick, Left
Sleep, 50
}
Return
#e::
ExitApp
Return
Windows Key + c will start autofire.
Windows Key + p will pause the script. Press it again to unpause.
Windows Key + e will exit the script.

Revisiting this game after six years of improvements is simply painful. Apparently at one point I thought this deserved three stars...I was a foolish child

no save. no continue. no progress bar. No heath bar. no magnet upon bubble clear. too much bouncing between bubbles. The adds that came with later installments of this series really made the game playable. As now, it is just tedious.

Can't play at work in my free time. It's weird being a smasher of the click in the middle of a calm office. Need an auto-fire.

The boss wasn't that difficult at all. I beat him after I got the triple shot. I kept playing to see what else I would get weaponwise

I beat this back before it ever had a badge, and it was hell enough then that I'll just play something else instead. Not worth the points.

I THINK, although its hard to confirm, that the "boss" for the badge is only found in the very outer rims of the world. Mine was 3 bubbles away from the edge. Once you have a shield just head in one direction outwards.

Before playing this, you might want to find a mouse autofire program - it's amazing how much more enjoyable this became when I didn't have to keep clicking. Reduces the risk of RSI, too.

In this - as with a lot of games on Kongregate - I encounter control issues: it often sticks when I push a directional button (as in, it keeps going right after I hit right...) Anyone have a similar problem?

OK just got the badge of the day - start doing bubbles in a spiral to keep the enemies easy. Once you have a solid white circle you cannot upgrade further - I wasn't sure about this but after clearing around 100 more bubbles I had no more upgrades. at this point it is better to head straight out - I met the boss 16 bubbles out from my cleared spiral. I believe he only appears if you are fully upgraded. There some bubbles with enemies that are just a big blob of bubbles that split into smaller unarmed ships - I recommend not killing these outright as they could be 'farmed' for bubbles if you are weakened (take a few bubbles then leave and re-enter the bubble). if this helps plus the comment.

This game is so terrible. Every bubble field is so full of enemies thatit is hard to make headway in upgrade the ship especially when they fire off screen. I sometimes find myself shooting in a empty bubble cause I can never tell if they are still alive or not.

as soon as i noticed i was at the boss... i just sat and shot at 10 shots a second. didnt care about damage cuz i collected 300 bubbles worth without an upgrade

Luckily, the sequels are a lot better than the original. If you miss the features listed in the top comments, go play the sequels. They did implement it!

No auto-fire, instead having the player click to fire. Bad.
Accidentally changing fields while moving and ending up losing all the bubbles that were dropped but not yet picked up. Also bad.
If you get hit too badly in the later stages, it is really really difficult to recover. So that's it?
No menu, mute, or pause button. None that I could find, anyway. Can't even restart the game without refreshing the page. Poor design.
Badge of the day? GREAT IDEA! NOT!
