***Spoiler***
I was kind of pissed off that the game ended with a survival without telling you what the "artifact" was. You should have ended the game THEN put in a hidden survival mission

I am quite impressed that each ship is a different style of play rather than simply an upgrade of more of the same - it is very hard to balance something like that. The banter between characters is amusing. and I would like to see more of it. The art for the ships is excellent, with each species being unique, and detailed animation of where the turrets are pointing quite helpful. I have two complaints, however. First of all, it does get a little repetitive after a while - things like power ups, altering the area, or adding player allies would help. Secondly, some of the larger enemy ships have simply far too many hit points or too much resistance, and it isn't fun to just keep pumping machine gun bullets into the same target for so long. Perhaps you could offer the player's a ship designed to fight capitals with fairly weak fighter defense, but a powerful torpedo launcher, or a reflect shield to double damage output by using the enemy's own weapons against them.

of the circle in some levels,BOOM!i multiply by like a trillion or something and now there are tons of me-clones that shoot just like me but don't do any damage, another one is that i have enough money to buy a ship, then when i buy it,the screen starts going crazy(in gameplay)!!!(its start like blinking.).and the worst bug of all,on the last level i tried with all the ships but none of those weapons work!!!and when i try to shoot secondary weapon,it sais mission failed and i died!!!the only thing good about this game is the graphics.those where like 5/10.the story itself isnt complex,it isnt interesting.and the hard levels have the same ships but they only cause more damage!!!Thats like, boring!!!!and bad upgrade system.poor quality.in total, the game was like 3/10.improve it first, plus, why do you guys need sponsering to make a flash??!!whatever.i have more interesting things to do like playing other games.

I truly wonder why in this space age, aliens decided to use English as a standard form of communication instead of something else.

I swear you regenerate health faster than you take damage....I've only lost twice in 14 levels (most recent was on level 14 where I stood still until my health was at 1/3rd just to see if I could survive from that, got about half way through the mission).

Does it bother anyone else that the Dev keeps calling this a "Top Down" shooter when it's clearly an "Arena" Shooter?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Cant answer my last post, but; I didn't say you don't get hit, I said you get hit LESS by standing still. Because they doesn't ONLY shoot at you or where they think you will go (because you're standing still).
If you stand still and they try to shoot where you are think you're going they should all aim at you and all the bullets (except those that are shooting random in all directions, aoe etc) should therefor come right at you!? But they don't! The bullets are everywhere more like a barrage, sure it is effective but kind of impossible to dodge with a ship that covers almost the whole game window.
I've finished the game, though. With the shock-ship. I pushed the bigger ship of screen (there bullets wont penetrate the 'bubble') while taking out all the small ones then picked the big ones off one by one, not a very big deal, but not so fun either

When it came to big guns mission,2nd wave was impossible because the shield never went off.I very liked it,but if I can't beat this game because it's to hard,1/5.

I positively love the update, excellent work. The game really benefits, and is much more balanced (though now the Shock and Awe is a little overpowered. This kinda stuff should really have come out in playtesting though. There are three things you should have learned from this experience:
1. There is no excuse for not or insufficient playtesting. Giving it out and having it playtested for 3 days should have eliminated the glaring flaws it had.
2. Take your audience seriously: They *will* have good ideas
3. Don't badger for 5 stars.
4. If you have a metal theme, put in metal music
There are still flaws: it does get a bit repetitive and different enemies still don't really take much of a different strategy, which makes it a bit too long. Still, it's a fun game!

worth playing but as many before me have said upgrades in the sequel and its gonna be a awesome game in my opinion ^^
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Begging people to rate your game higher so your sponsors pay for a sequel is silly. Telling people who criticize your game and gave it a lower rating that: 1 You couldn't make a better game because you lack funding, 2 this lack of funding can be fixed by giving the game a better rating, 3 basically refusing to add game content that would improve your game because it doesn't have a good enough rating. Is a number of things but mostly asinine. If you want to get better ratings either make a better game, or take user suggestions and make your game better. I will not give a 5 star rating to a game unless I think it deserves it and I certainly won't be guilted into doing so by the developer of said game. I actually rated it lower than I normally would have because you're begging for a better rating, and no I'm not going to tell you how many stars that was.
Yeah, I guess I should clarify. What we are requesting is that players not hold ratings ransom, in other words give low ratings until their requested feature is implemented. ie. "I would have given you 4/5 but right now 1/5 until you add flying pony guns!"That's what we are trying to discourage as it won't allow us to add flying pony guns, it just tears the game down- it's not proactive. If you think the game is a rated something else on it's merits, by all means rate away.

They talk like nerds, the girl have like so many piercing, she should talk more like emo. Exiles should talk more brutally.

If i were the pilot, i would surrender the artifact in an exchange of 30,000 scrap to buy the crusher. Then i use 'Crusher' to destroy them and retrieve the artifact.

this is about "like Bubble Tanks" as Jerking off is "like" having sex, or in bubble tanks 3's case, having a threesome. Bubble Tank's best quality was the customization and progression of your vehicle. There was no buy screen, just a choice about how you want to build your ship. The only similarity is the shape of the battle zone and general fighting style. With those similarities, Left for Dead could be considered similar to Call of Duty.
Now, if you don't compare it to Bubble Tanks, I'll look at it as it's own game. Fun game. I haven't run into much of a challenge yet, but the balancing system seems good. No glitches, and the game seems to run very naturally. Music is nice without being repetitive. Graphics are pretty good. The only thing that really threw me off was that it wasn't what I was looking for when I heard Bubble Tanks. If I was looking at the game with no bias's, I possibly could have given it 5/5, but as is, I'm feeling 4/5.

Shock and Awe's ability to push enemies out of the zone to a point that you can no longer attack them, but they can still attack you needs to be fixed. There's no good reason for it to push enemies in the first place, but adding that it can push them past boundaries is ridiculous. Need a better way to get rid of kamikazes. Are their hitboxes so small that I'm missing them every time a bullet goes right through them, or are they just immune to some bullets? It's fine if I can kill them somehow, but it's stupid if I can't. Put a timer on them or something. What's with the exile ship's life bars? Half the ships just keep going after their bars are empty, it's incredibly annoying.

Unfortunately I got tired of the repetitive gameplay when "The Exiles" came around and quit for good. Having a different soundtrack per level might be good. Possibly a different sound track when a big, boss ship appears. The gears that you pick up look a little like missiles and I tried avoid them for a while and wondered how on earth I wasn't dying since I was being hit with all these missiles (wait, gears).
BT was great. Just listen to the sound track--so serene. And the cool sound effects--everyone loves popping those packing bubbles. Having a pleasing, satisfying sound like that every time you shot was euphoric.

@Arionyx
I don't think there's anything wrong with the game. To keep the metaphor, I think it's more like a basic model car rather than a premium. When corporate says you're making a basic model you don't get to make a premium and slip it by them. With that being said, I was unaware this was the same team behind Bubble Tanks. I don't know the circumstances but it does seem to me, now, that more could've been done. With the system already in place from another IP i wonder how much it would've taken to implement it in this game.

The aesthetics of this game lend it to the snappy bullet hell style of gameplay, but the mechanics remain the same sluggish duke-it-out style of BT3. This game is an opportunity to make things a bit faster paced, with larger, more elaborate environments. Think asteroid obstacles, space station upgrade/save points, and an actual convoy to defend. Starfighter: Disputed Galaxy is a good example. Combine variety (missions like assassination, defense, objective retrieval/delivery, etc.) with customization (not just primary/secondary weapons, but shields/hull, engines, radar, passive effects, etc.). Add new weapons (lasers, intricate spread shots a la Enigmata, chain-lighting, etc) beyond the standard repertoire of BT3 guns, as well as customizable weapon effects (pass-thru, area-effect, damage-over-time, etc.).
Currently you have a 5/5 for concept and visuals/UI, but a 0/5 for effort. Bring some effort to the table, and you'll have the best shooter on Kong.

Wow. It's just a cut down BT3 with some actual art assets instead of friggin' circles. Whoopdie @#$%ing doo. Couldn't even manage art assets for BT3's best feature, customizable weapons? I find this game hard to take seriously, because it could have come from any dumbass with a drawing tablet and a .swf decompiler and no actionscript experience. The statement that its limitations come from lack of funding just don't ring true to me - there is value to be had in doing things the right way, not just the easy way; a user base and advertizing revenue will follow.
Don't get me wrong, BT3 was a good game (and Bubble Tanks Tower Defense was a great one; Hero Interactive is clearly capable of quality games) but I just don't think this game stands on its own. Hero Interactive's strength has been user friendliness, polished gameplay and solid actionscripting - Dead Metal adds nothing to that.

I think we should be able to sell teh ships to have more money, and the upgrade system of teh weapons too... good game though
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
good game... could do with some improvements but overall 7/10 mostly cause its hard to play with a trac pad and needs swappable weapons instead of diff ships
