double MG is overpowered... radio is slightly underpowered (think Lots and lots of damage mods...) Also, I beat a level with 4 rocket towers.

I agree the lack of AI makes this game pretty pointless. Why buy extra guns if they can only be used one at a time? Can't even put out enough damage to get past the stage with the gunboats. Fix it and it could be a good game.

The lack of AI turrets just makes the game pissy. It's like having all the powers of the universe, but you can only use them one at a time. AND wtf is with the pack of giant flying death machines? Doesn't that kind of stuff happen little by little so that you can, oh say, find a weak spot and then, dare i say- have fun with this game. It's still better than the first incarnation...

I don't like the part where if I choose weapons I don't like, then there is no way to go back and restart the campaign (it automatically reloads the campaign to where I left off.) The problem is that if you change weapons mid-campaign, the new weapons start at a low-level.
The dual experience/money scheme isn't terribly well thought out or balanced.

not sure i like this version as much as the last, some of the new weapons are cool and the campaigns are great, but pay for a game that youll finish in 10 mins? and also really needs a sandbox mode, eg play forever

For each campaign you beat, you get 5000 more gold and each gun you purchase gets you 2 Upgrade points.
So if you have beaten 3 campaigns, your 4th one will start with 15,000 extra gold, and each gun you purchase will start out with 6 UP.

thanks all, thought i had to start all over again, but could just redo the last level.. so bought 2 snipers and voila ;)
One tip, what are the bonuses you get in the next level when you finish a level? It says you get em, but i have no idea what they are.. more EXP? more gold?

i beat finaly "boss" again to read the last part of the free game it reads : You are victorious you have beat the original campaign: below it it says next campaign
hero i think if you made it longer it might be worth some money but if anything make it harder? the hard level is easier then the 2medium levels

hero the shield.. you only need 1 sniper.. upgrade its damage to 30 and it one hits the shields.. have minigun take care of rest :]

and in this game the best offense if the BEST defense... last boss 4dmg buffer 1dual minigun... at final boss ur doing 10's on weakspots of blimps ur doing 20's

Phae, this is a strategy game. Yes, you may have to change your strategy. If all you had was a machine gun, don't be surprised if you can't win. I recommend adding two sniper guns, they can shoot right through the shield unit's armor, killing him pretty fast.

well Hero this is a good game.. but it needs a better ending then the "you beat the final boss" message and right below it saying "pay 4$to see the rest" maybe 1$ is worth it but 5... i can get much better games with replay value... this game has no replay

phae... i can think of like 100gamers that do that... when playstation1 was out i played a game (forgot name right now) but it took 2motnhs to get to final boss... i forgot to make a halfway save point and i was stuck on the boss... i never finished the game...

hey, the dual machine gun worked fine in level 1, going for that in level 2 too!
So i got dual machine gun, 1 health buff and 2 damage buff thingies..
then comes the boss at the end. I do ZERO damage, only have machinegun, so nothing happening really..
What is this? Forcing people to start all over with different weapon?

found a glitch, hero man. sometimes when the level is restarted, the turrets disappear. they go to the top left corner after being repaired and are completely unusable. I'd like to see this fixed, man.

This game is pretty addictive. Nice shooter-style defense with a touch of strategy involved. I really enjoyed the variety in weapons, especially the animations and sounds, although the only weapon I really used was the Dual Machine Gun (while only being Flash animation, that gun simply liquidates the enemy; it's awesome). You're always on defense, so there isn't much of a plot, but that's fine. The interface is intuitive and the tutorial got me started. There's even some bonus content if you feel like supporting the developers; an idea I've been toying around with.
This gets a "5", and you get a warning: I just played 3 of the 5 freebie campaigns and spent about an hour and a half to two hours on it. If shooters are your cup of tea, this will hook you quickly.

Ok, big comment so I split it into 4 posts...
burnacid: I'm very happy for the developers behind DTD, it's a great game and I think they definitely may have brought in 20k or more. But you have to understand, that's quite possibly the most successful non-client based flash game ever made, ever. By far, flash games on average never even get remotely close to making half that.

I understand you guys. You're used to playing free games on sites like kongregate, and you want it to keep this way.
I also agree... and disagree. I'm never going to make a game and make it entirely pay to play, ever. I enjoy being able to play all the free flash games out there just as much as you do- that's why StormWinds has the whole main game available all the way to the final boss. But as I said I disagree too, games cost a lot of time (and money) to make. StormWinds 1.5 took a total of 6 months working full time with no other job to produce, it's over 17,000 lines (380 pages) of code! And I want to make even better games than this in the future!

Not that I can't get money other ways such as through sponsorship. But two big issues come up. The first is, why make a huge long game like stormwinds when I could make a quick small game such as starshine and get the same amount of money. The second is this: what better games could I be making if I had a better budget? I think we'd both agree there is a big difference between low budget and high budget movies, it works the same way with games. You've seen what is possible on low budgets, what could we make with bigger ones?

In the end, the extra content is just that, extra content. If you don't want to pay to play this game, you don't have to! The game is complete, all the way to the final boss in the city campaign. Don't pretend like it's just a demo or crippleware, I've loaded the game with far more content than 99.99999999% of the other games on kongregate. For those of you who'd like to get more content, beta test Bubble Tanks 2 when that comes out, or just support Hero Interactive and help us to provide you with bigger, awesomer games in the future, that's now available to you.

well the current way to restart campings wouldn't exist if i wouldn't say it in comments over and over.. i foudn the quickest way/version of it.. just click the challenge go into it leave it and restart your camp... its the fastest way... no need to refresh
