How does this have a 3.86 rating? Seriously? Every single comment is about how terrible it is... and it IS that bad. Who is giving this a positive score?? There's not a single positive comment! And no, I'm not waiting until level 5. I still have no clue how anyone has managed to get to level 3. This is painful.

It's really disappointing to see the devs leaving the same cut and paste responses on here as they do on Steam. The fact that they hire people whose purpose is just to try to convince players that their game isn't bad says it all.

The rest of y'all already covered how boring this game is, but I'd also like to point out that it's deeply unpleasant to look at. The layout manages to be cluttered and too busy AND YET somehow fails to convey a lot of necessary information. For instance, I got sort of tricked into a soft reset because I couldn't tell the screen it was on had something else it was trying to tell me to do instead. Also the people that show up on a whole two or three screens are absolutely hideous. They look like really bottom tier dollmaker dolls, or like they came out of one of those "Elsa goes to the dentist" games.

All of the Dev responses are essentially "You haven't gotten to the good stuff yet. Wait until your town is a higher level and you will really enjoy it." Don't they understand that the vast majority of us don't want to get that far in this game? We are having a hard enough time just getting to town level 3 why in God's name would we continue playing after we get the achievements and don't have to anymore?

i was reading all the comments, and thought it was kind of harsh, and maybe overreaction.
then i looked at "other games by this developer"
wow man, so many hated tries to make an idle game. you guys sure either dont understand why people play idle games, or care about the players of those games.
honestly usually i'd comment how to make the game better, but the other comments make a GREAT job at that, so seriously @GREG please unbadge this game. it is a disgrace.

Note how level 5 (events) is also the only section of the game that's unlockable via a microtransaction, and coincidentally the one after which the game "really begins"... That seems pretty low of the devs if you ask me.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Holiday City response to all the hate: "give it a few days". Which is exactly the reason WHY the commenters are hating it so much. Pure logic.

Congrats on making the most boring and least interactive idle game that I've ever seen.
My guess is that it will take a new player ~2 weeks to unlock anything that might be interesting. What kind of concept is that?
It's a shame that an idle game like this got badged and not one of the more interesting ones.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Given that the devs themselves have stated "the interesting part begins after level 3" in response to people complaining, it's just a boring grind to get a badge.
I like idle games but this is the first one I've played which has been purposely designed to have long boring waits with literally nothing to do other than watch your money increase for hours at a time before you can buy an upgrade.
The devs attempt to force players into paying for micro-transactions to avoid playing their own game because they know they've made it unbearably boring and tedious to play, with nothing more than a suggestion to "give it a few days, once you unlock the event the game will progress a lot faster" as a reason to even begin playing.
Hi Baker12LFC! We are here to help and listen our community and new players. Did you know that there are a lot of free daily rewards the so called daily Login, social media rewards and of course the event rewards that gives you for Free ( in game currency "Holybars", Payouts, coins, prestige Items etc) every day!

Too much loading, then it just loads a loading screen for more loading, then it demands I read two other documents before I'm allowed to play. One star, congratulations on managing to piss me off before the game started!

Finally got the medium. That was not worth it. Quick tips for the badge: You need to earn 10 SP in one run to get to level 3. Get all the free Holybar gifts (visit the twitter page and get the codes, get the daily reward, click the buttons for the twitter and facebook). You do NOT have to actually like or follow anything- clicking on the button will give you the reward anyway. You're going to want to get every restart upgrade until the 500 SX one, and you should be able to finish within a day from there. Your biggest earners will usually be the lab, the factory or the boutique depending on what upgrades you have. In your final run once you have the x180 resource multiplier focus on making your boutiques as powerful as possible by any means possible. The game will progress closed, but if you want it open keep it open in another window, because if you tab out it won't register resources or money gained until you refresh. Took me 5 and a bit days total.

Wow, I remember when the developer of this game posted in the Anonymous chat room asking people for their opinions on the game. Good for you!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I have to say that i agree with other people that this game is boring. I wonder what went wrong from their previous idle game that also has badges: midas' gold plus. that had similar idle wait for money like here but it also had active game play mechanism and idle mechanism: rage and mana system. You gained rage points as you clicked the game or used the ingame provided clicker and you could use those rage points into different abilities that slowly drained rage points or then you could use idle version of it: mana points which you gained automatically and could also use to different abilities, you also unlock different heros with different effects to the game. I mean that game is far more superior than this and you could even enjoy getting the badges.

I don't think this deserves a medium badge. Getting to level 3 isn't difficult at all, but it takes nearly a week at minimum to get the badge. That's way too unreasonable for 15 points. Imagine if this was badge of the day.

Won't let me claim fee before i hit the next upgrade amount in "account after claim" despite the fact that with my resource's I will have enough, so theres no real point to selling off the additional resources. coolio.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Damn, out of the 5,438,194 plays so far only 5,090 people have gotten to level 3, or 0.09% of all players. That should tell you enough about the quality of this game.
Thank you for writing in solzerid! Holyday City is an idle game with depth and lots of interesting mechanisms that you will have the chance to see as you progress further in the game. When a player is so fresh in the game, we would advise, to give the game a few days to have a more complete picture about the game play :)

Games shouldn't have a separate privacy policy apart from the one you have for kongregate and they should not be collecting data on their own. I will never get these stinkin' badges.

@TheMcKing223, it's a terrible game in a boring genre. There's nothing legitimately positive that can be said about this game, and it's obvious the badging is for revenue. I also wish we had a closer insight to the rating systems, and see if there are thousands of level 1 users giving games like this 5 stars or if it's Kong simply spoofing it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@TheMcKing223 My dude how is it not obvious to you this is being badged just for increased revenue in the game? Greg doesn't give a shit people hate the game as long as this move gets people to spend some money
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It seems that every positive comment about the game gets heavily downvoted (probably like mine will *again*).
People have their opinions, you guys don't need to hate on them. If it was such a bad game, Greg wouldn't have added a badge. Simple as that.
*cue downvotes*

The game doesn't seem to progress when you're out of the tab, but it'll catch up if you refresh. Make sure you refresh when you come back if you spend time out of the tab. Sped things up for me a lot when I realised that.

Most fun i have playing this game is checking new comments daily. Scrolling page down is almost as much action as i do in the game. Keep it up guys!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
After a day of playing, I reloaded my tab to find that the game hadn't saved and I have to start over. Not a great feature.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Hey you remember those baby mobile games from which their artstyle was cringey to look at? Well, it reminds me of this game too.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm not sure, but it could be that the ratings are being artificially inflated with fake accounts. Either that, or before now it was only being played by people who really liked it, and no one else would touch it long enough to rate it down.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Virtually every comment about this game is negative/how awful it is, but it has a 3.9 star average? HOW? I'm beginning to think that rating games is a pointless exercise and that somehow the ratings are corrupt?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The only amusing thing about this game is that every time I come back there is a new set of comments, all of which despise the game.
Thank you for writing in ZeStick, now with the badges are also experimenting with this category of games -idle game, more players. What we would advice is idle games need always some patience and strategy. So in order to have the chance to see the depth and the variety in content of Holyday City give it a few days, after level 5 begins the nice part :)
