@archerbob: use cantrip upgrades as much as possible, it can give you a chance to escape or attack; one pawn with cantrip that exchanges into a queen can be a very useful to (re)gain control. Second useful is probably splash/armor combo. I only bought health when I had extra coins.

Card mechanics automatically mean crap game... the only way to make it somewhat better is setting reasonable hand/deck ratio - i know one card game that can be called enjoyable, it has 4-hand with 8-deck. (yes, i know that cantrip is pretty powerful ability, but that's why it's also expensive, we need it on many, many pieces to not rely on luck, and then we still need other abilities to survive)

...why is my cantrip pawn not changing into a queen even though I'm standing in the top row? The other pawn in my hand did.

A mechanic to upgrade a card permanently once you beat floor 7 might make the gauntlet a fun grind instead of a towering mountain that I don't even wanna try lol good game 5/5

Pretty awesome game as it is. Having to restart from the absolute scratch and wait those ever so fickle RNG stars to align again gets old rather fast though. The save point before the gauntlet would make this a much more rewarding experience indeed. Repeating and clumsily restarting just to make that decent starting hand happen in order to have the slightest shot at the ultimate goal simply isn't fun. Imho, a modern rogue-like should involve some sort of slow over-arching build up toward better chances of success.

The enemies can definitely see what cards I have: many times it happens that they move exactly where I cannot hit them and I waste a whole turn.

I don't know if it is still relevant now but congratulations on the new updates. When I first played the game, it was purely RNG with no means to win by skill. It was by pure luck that I managed to play. Now it can be done by careful planning. I changed my 2/5 score to 4/5.
As suggested, cantrips are the best upgrades possible. Keep your coins to buy cantrips and skip if possible.

This is a BS game, I can get to floor 7 and cannot win due to a bug where I take damage on squares it says I should take none

Really fun game! I like the depth of strategy, and this impossible badge is one of the more doable ones IMO. The later gauntlet levels often have enough blight to make you always take at least 3 or so damage, so the shield and lightning upgrades are a must! I also liked upgrading the pawn that starts with both splash upgrades to have everything - when you draw it, you go on the offensive, when you don't, you go defensive, but that's more a greedy choice than anything.

Hej, even with an almost perfect 7 levels I couldn't buy everything I want because they were not even available. Still too luck-based, at the last level, even with the best strategy you have almost no chance finding enough shields for a tile.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Gauntlet 7 is possible, 8 is impossible as the lowest blight on a square is 5 blight, all other squares have much higher blight

Srry all for spam but this game really got under my skin. i got badge at 5th try. Learn the first 4 levels and do insta retry unless you oneshot lvl1. Lvl 2 can also be one shot, lvl3 also chanse for 1 turn. But loosing one gold is nothing due to the worst thing about game, its the random shop. I beat game by getting good luck in shop. nothing less or more. i feel like a jackass now that i beat it and wasted time

Get to lvl14 again, have 3 cards that is not yellow. and i draw them 1,2 and 4. not that it matters because all tiles have blight with 5dmg

after grinding for hours i have found a bug in the game. In gauntlet when standing on 1DMG square i have taken 2 or 3 damage multiple times. Also level 14 can go F* itself. I have been three times and never once had the draws just to get to one square that isnt insta death. Just RNG no skill

Ok i died 3 enemys from impossible badge. Tips: at lvl1 you need to win at round 1, reset if you dont get red pawn or yellow so you can oneshot. Tip2: only get the extra move energy in shop. Some armor will be awesome but only after lvl7 when you cant buy anymore. And tip 3: LUCK! no skill can help you unless you get godlike luck.

got to gauntlet 6 but it only has 1 tile without blight at start and i only have 1 shield card. RIP before i even started

in chess, a common mechanic is the fact that you can't pass your turn, you have to move somewhere, even if it's detrimental, what if the same was the case here to make it require slightly more thought? or maybe just as an enemy ability?

I would appreciate being able to save the game at the beginning of a new stage, and so no one exploits it maybe the save file could be automatically corrupted if the person makes a move and then at the beginning of the next stage you could make a new save or if that exact way isn't possible maybe something else that uses the same concept. It would be nice.

Here I was trying to calculate all the possibilities with my splash upgrades and losing all the time on the final floor; and then I read the comments about how the shield upgrades are the way to go... let me tell you what, the shield and lighting upgrades are the way to go! Unless you wanna spend 10s of minutes worth of time calculating all the possibilities. I won the first time I targeted the shield upgrades over the splash upgrades.

To get the badge u need loads of luck. If u can get energy. If u can't get shield. If u can't get either then DON'T spend. Also, NEVER buy the heart. Keep reseting with the x top right...slay a goat pray to all gods u ever heard of & u ll get the efing badge ;)

I didn't understand the RNG comments but I guess I was just lucky. I have been saving up and only buying cantrips, but I just went through a game where by level 7 I had only seen one cantrip available and I had 33 coins.

You can hug the top rank to get queens often, since your pawns come pre-equipped with upgrades. Obviously cantrips are the best, but splash attacks come before shields because they help you clear nimble enemies much faster and killing multiple blightsacks at a time will limit the blight to an area and you can use another move to get away. Shields are still mandatory in the gauntlet because the shaman champion is always there. you can't always stay next to him so you have to tank a hit every turn. Stacking a knight with splash and cantrip is useful because there is a certain gauntlet spawn that allows you to kill 2 nimble enemies in one move. Bishop cantrips are underwhelming for their high cost. Stacking upgrades on a few units is better than spreading them out. It's better to hope for better draw rng than get cornered because you clear too slowly. You can only play two cards a turn(not counting cantrips); you want as many effects for those two moves as possible.

Finally became a Dungeon Grandmaster after much resetting. There's not too much advice I can give besides "get lucky". There is so little room for error in the later stages that it comes down to draw rng and how kind your shops were to you. The game is slick to look at but it's too shallow to justify tearing your hair out for the impossible badge for most sane people. It's a shame that the last impossible badge on the site is for something so dependent on luck. There is strategy in the game, but for the impossible badge in particular to deal with the horseshit in the gauntlet you need to have certain upgrades and not draw 3 duds in a turn since one turn on the wrong tile can mean instant death.

survived until lvl 7 gauntlet..and guess what..it starts with every tile with at least 2 to 6 blight and I died just at my second move..damn
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Try this..If only you can upgrade all your deck with +1 move..then you'll win 100% XD and it would be very simple if you can but you can't XD

I am dying here xD I had the best possible run, all pawns with all upgrades + one rook with shield, with extra life in lvl6 gauntlet with total of 4. going smoothly through every level. Then in last level I draw 2 bishops and a horse, so I cant make 2 moves anywhere without ending up getting at least 5 dmg xD. I aml waiting to get lucky draw at last level, still not happening :/
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Damn it! I followed the onscreen instructions after completing the 7 levels and ended up back at the start. Only afterwards realised I missed the access to the Gauntlet.

FINALLYYYY. Cantrips & shields are the way to go. skip over early upgrades & go strictly for cantrips. at one point I had at least 21 gold which allowed me to buy two cantrips at the next shop. also don't spend all your money on the "Final" shop, wait until the shop before the gauntlet. You should be good enough to get through the 7th floor without losing a life. also, only buy a life if you're at the shop before the gauntlet & have left over money. try to buy shields only when there's no cantrips and you know you will have enough money to buy a cantrip at the next shop. don't hesitate to give up a turn if it means you are guaranteed not to lose a life on the spot you're on. good luck

Got it! Used 6 cantrips, 5 shields, and had 4 diagonal splash. Moved my pawn up one space with splash, then went left to kill the goblins. You want roughly 5-6 of cantrips and 5-6 shields with each pawn having splash.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Took me about 2-3 hours but I did it. get as many cantrips as you can . i lucked out at the final run with 8 cantrips and 4 shields and beat the 7th gauntlet in 2 turns.

One strategy I used is to attack the blight matrons right away. Since they spread blight wherever they go, you stand a chance of preserving the least damaging spaces. It is a risky strategy, but it allows you to kill the little ones when they are on already blighted spaces while you protect the less blighted ones as your safe(r) haven.

Well,as i predicted,Songbird Symphony 0.2 hard badge finally is the least awarded on this site.Too bad you guys did dislike my comment .-. Anyway, great game, got the imp badge some time ago,did another playthrough and got to floor 7 on first try,lol
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Sadly this game is really good only the RNG aspect completely ruins it as one round you could clear a level extremely easily and the next time you try you cant move into a single tile without being killed
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Definitely too much RNG. Had 5 runs in a row up to floor 7 where there was only one or two cantrips available. Or I enter gauntlet 7 and I happen to get all the cards with no abilities and then take 8 blight damage lol
