In the arcane tower, I was just out of an epic battle with 2 HP remaining. I was heading to the closest health fontain, just one portal to pass... Then I missclicked and stupidely walked on a fire glyph (T_T)

I enjoy the random nature of the loot in general, because I love multiclassing, buuuut I'm not loving it when it comes to keys. I just played through a game where there were four locked gates (two on one level!), and I found zero keys (despite killing everything and picking up all the loot I could reach). I did use a couple of Blink scrolls to bypass one gate and get in anyway. On some previous playthroughs I've accumulated keys without finding any gates. I wish there were an increased chance of enemies dropping keys as loot for levels with gates, or something. Or maybe if "key" were an option for the Well of Wishing/Scroll of Acquirement.

I wish the descriptions for the infernal sword and storm chopper made it clear they don't do "physical" damage and therefore the sneak attack skill doesn't work with them. Speaking of criticals, I wish there were something that explained how critical damage and sneak attacks worked; it seems inconsistent. Like, an enemy's on unstable terrain, and I normally do 5 damage, so I crit for 10 damage. So criticals just do double damage? And when I sneak attack, it does 14 damage, adding on 35% for my 7 stealth. But wait, a little earlier I did a sneak attack for 28 damage! So they occasionally do quadruple instead of double? And occasionally I get a free critical, but I can't tell what the % chance of that is or whether it's the same for all weapons. It's a little opaque. I also wish it were clearer how the sneak skill interacted with spot chance %, instead of the help text just saying that sneak "decreases the chance enemies will spot you".

@returnofthemstra - yep, the Inferno Ring does 20% more damage. The regular fire rings do a smaller upgrade, but this is the rarer and more powerful ring. It could me my imagination, it just feels like the upgrades aren't doing as much as they used to, and I've been playing this game a lot over the last few months. Still fun, but I'm a lot less encouraged to brave the four levels of cold if I'm only dealing 7 points of damage.

@Strabbo, are you sure that it increases Fire damage by 20%? Most of the rings I have encountered increase your defense by 20%. Also, In general, 10 is the most levels I put into a skill, as beyond that it's a waste of points that could increase something like focus or fortitude, both of which are highly important for survival as well. If you want a stronger fire attack after 10 points, I would find a second fire staff, as this will increase the strength of your current, or find a scroll of upgrading, which can be used to upgrade. Beyond that, there isn't much you can do.

This is probably a stupid question, but do goblin shamans deal cold damage? I never thought on why they slow you down, but it would certainly explain that, and why I took less damage while wearing a Ring of Ice

Something is wonky with the power-ups. In a normal game with a fire mage the maximum damage I can get with Fire Magic skill at 20 is 8hp. This time around I found an inferno ring, giving me 20% increased fire damage. And with Fire Magic at 20 I'm still only dealing 8hp of damage. I've played this game a lot, and this is the first I've noticed that power-ups are not working properly.

I wish there was a way to dodge the pit and teleport traps. Maybe adding a dodge skill to allow one to dodge harmful effects? Evidently it wouldn't affect area of effect abilities like the orb of fire.

This game is composed of two types of items/creatures, things that can kill you, and things to help you not be killed. Instructions: Shoot the things that can kill you, pick up the things that can help, ignore everything else.

I used to think that of the last sector of levels, the Ice Flats were the worst. I was wrong. The worst zone of any of them is the core.

A great build for ranger : train focus, range, melee and fortitude until they're to 10, then max range. If you find a long sword, ugrade it all you can and buy every upgraded arrows you find in shop. Equip a maximum of mage items to increase your energy and try to find flying boots or ring of levitation as fast as you can, also try to find a staff. If you meet ennemies run until they're in line then destroy them with percing shot. If you're facing a strong or a lone ennemy just attack him with staff and when he's next to you kick him back with power shot (if you find a warrior/bearbarian book, learn some melee spells, it will be usefull). After the floor 13/14 start using all he good arrows you accumulated a just destroy ennemies with pering/powerfull shots (you should've find a lot of energy shrooms before you reach this zone, about 50 so don't hesitate to use spells)

@Slasher1118: The blessing instantly refills your Health and Energy and temporarily increases your damage. It's very often worth it, especially if you're at low health and have cash to spare; it's only 10G.

I have discovered a decent build. Necromancer with +4 on necromancer skill, +8 on focus and after that, put all skill points on Fortitude. Abuse Life Spike and Cannibalize since it kills enemies fast specially when stacked while it heals you decently. Also try to find items that adds physical defense(it will synergize better with your high hp than mage items) even it reduce your magic damage because you will barely use staffs when you can just attack enemy with Life Spike and regain ep using Cannibalize. With this build, i mostly get 1 damage only from archer and about half damage from melee units. Beware of mage units tho and stack Life spikes into them until they die or try to corner them and use a strong melee weapon to kill them. Also try to get warrior's book to get that skill with +1 hp per fortitude points. With this build, you just need bunch of ep mushrooms and almost no weapon required.

Amazing game! Finally got the badge after quite some tries.
A FEW TIPS FOR THE HARD BADGE:
- You DO NOT need to open any of the dangerous gates on any of the floors, open at your own risk.
- The last stages have tons, and I mean TONS of lava. Ring of Levitation is extremely useful. Buy it as soon as possible.
- Invest some points in HP, even as a Mage, after getting all the skills you want. Don't invest 20+ points in a single stat, it's really not worth it.
- Scroll of Teleport is a really cheap way of getting yourself out of dire situations, consider getting a few in your playthrough.
- You can never get enough shrooms. Pick each and every one of them.
- You earn the badge for getting the Goblet, this means you can actively avoid fighting enemies and even rush through entire floors. Rouge is really nice for this kind of strategy. However if you're too underleveled this can be counterproductive.
- You can beat the game with any and every class. This game is really well balanced.

This game is just great. All the tiny little details that the developer put in really add to the experience. The fact that your character is drawn above the water if you have the boots of flight equipped was a very pleasant surprise to see.

I really like this game, but there should be a keyboard option for movement--if you don't have carpal tunnels before you beat this game, you will after!

Warrior is easy. Just beef up health and melee damage, it's pretty straight-forward. Keep a fear, teleport, or other such scroll on hand in case you get surrounded. Charge is pretty useful for taking out pesky ranged opponents. If you want to do a glitch run, you can use charge on an opponent and immediately click somewhere else. Then you can run straight through levels without being attacked by enemies. My best time without glitches is 14:30, my best time without is 4:20 by getting charge at level 3 and then sprinting through the remaining levels.

@francoismedic. I've beaten with all characters in under 45 minutes. For Mages I beef up the corresponding magic stat to 20, and for all others I beef strength to 20. After that I put fortitude up to 20. After that it doesn't really matter. Beyond that it is generally just getting lucky with the rare items/enchantment scrolls. Good Luck!

fire bug where hitting something using fire staff causes that tile to remain flamed and movement or any action is no longer possible

@Zavvnao You can still find it if you google certain phrases, such as if you're trying to search for class builds, but maybe it was taken down since the things were now inaccurate. When searching for builds myself, sure, the builds are liable and decent/good, but I've seen posts on that game where it states like how there was 100 floors? So I guess it was taken down from easy-access with some update that took 100 floors to 16? I'm not sure

w00t! Just got goblet in 4:59 with barbarian! I also have a 4:24 with warrior. My strategy is just run around each level hoping I find the stairs, and use the glitch with charge. My strategy is very dependent on getting lucky with the randomly generated stages. I'd like to combine the charge glitch with dungeon sense, but that requires 1.) getting lucky and finding the right book, and 2.) spending the time to level up to get both charge and dungeon sense. Anybody know if there are any glitches to get dungeon sense?

So apparantly you can still get books prior to level 4, not sure if intentional. (i got one in a chest, idk if that has to do anything with it) considering that it states in the patch notes that books dont drop, i think something might be off.

You should remove the Total Achievements category in high scores, and add a category that considers the sum of the victory times for each character. This game is pretty fun to speed run, although I have a lot of trouble with the necromancer.
