i was doing amazing, +3 damn near everything, barbarian with a broad axe, everything you could wish for, then got critical-ed by 10 enemies at once. wow.

After playing this game for ages, it gets really tiresome when you have a run where you get no armor nor weapons for multiple floors.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@GabeW109, you encountered some corrosive (orange) slimes I think. Every now and then, they corrode your weapon -1. The game would have told you, but messages can be easy to miss. It's best to kill these from a distance!

I had a two handed battle ax that was enchanted up to +4, but through battles in the sewers it dropped to a +1. Is this a feature?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Depends on what you mean by stinks. Strength? Fire mage is a reasonably easy win. Enchanter is pretty powerful, too (if you can survive the early levels). Melees are tough unless you get a good weapon.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Necromancer is an easy win but so slow. I can only get speed if I use contagious disease instead of summon skeleton. But that's risky. Lightning mage is OP tho.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Necromancer is the most broken class. Only go for focus/mana, then just get skeletons and you automatically win every level

It's pretty easy to get talents that provide elemental resistance. Mages also don't start out with any additional damage with their own element, either, from what I can tell. They need to learn both of those along the way.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It makes absolutely no sense to me that enemy fire and storm mages have high fire and storm magic resistance, but for some dumb reason, player fire and storm mages have 0, 0!, resistance to their element.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It depends on a lot of things. What character are you playing? what build are you going for? what items and talents do you have?

It is possible to get infinite traps using nimble fingers and a merchant. merchants buy and sell traps for free, so you can use them to store as many as you want while you pick up more.

@AggelosM57 The enchanter starts off weak but becomes very powerful in the mid to late game. At the beginning, keep your distance from enemies and use terrain your advantage. Many early enemies are small which means almost anything will give them an unstable footing, even grass and blood, so your magic missiles will deal critical hits. Once you have confusion level 2 you can use it to turn groups of enemies against each other. Use charm on strong enemies to have an ally to fight for you and divert other enemies' attention from you. Swiftness helps avoid damage. Later in the run, magic mastery allows you to wield any greater staff effectively.

bought this on steam and have to say, like this version a lot better. for all the simplification done, and as much sense as those changes might have made, this version feels more like a complete game

Not sure to what extent this is still being developed / bugfixed, but one notable bug is that the Flaming Sword, even though melee damage, doesn't count for melee lifetap.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@wondernan: that's not a bug. You can walk on any dangerous terrain by holding the SHIFT key while clicking on the square you want to move on. The first time you encounter a dangerous terrain, an explaining pop-up appears so you probably missed it. ;-)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There is a bug, when you are circled by lava you can't walk on it all it says is dangerous terrain (work in rogue fable 2 don't know why it dosen'T work here). And my game was going good :(

@HEC2015 Hunger is essential. Without it you get infinite HP and MP regen. Mages literally cast a spell at every enemy, then rest back to full MP.

365 deathes? completing the game is not that hard actually, if you have enough expirience and know how to play, i won 7 or 8 of last 10 runs with differenct classes.

OMG!! 365 deaths before completing the hard badge. I finally achieved using a Ranger, but lots of things had to fall into place. Obtained a long bow which was ultimately enchanted to Level 5. Also found a +5 mace late in the game to help with melee attacks. Rings of strength and +2 vampire and +6 white dragon armor and +5 plate gloves were necessary for protection. Leveled fortitude until up to 10 and Evasion and Range Power to Level 6 each to help with dodging enemy missiles and hitting hard from a distance. Strafe Attack was very helpful along the way. Open those dungeon doors and run for the upstairs level. Bring one or two monsters up each time and kill them before going back down. Rinse, repeat and grab that Goblet of Yendor!!

@RainKing That's not how barb ability cooldown works. The cooldown is reduced by the amount of rage you have each time you kill something, not on each turn. As for charms, they work exactly like normal - they charge at a rate of 1 per turn regardless of rage.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
One more thing I forgot -- charms and abilities recharge according to your rage meter. For example if you have 3 rage your abilities will recharge by 3 units per turn, but if your rage meter is empty then they won't recharge at all. I find this means you can't use them as often in practice.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@AggelosM57 Barbarian has no MP, instead they have rage which goes up for each kill and drains over time. Each rage point gives you +1 melee damage. Playing barbarian is mostly about using strafe attack to kill enemies while minimizing damage to your character. Leveling is very simple, just focus on strength, melee, and fortitude. Charge is a useful talent for countering ranged enemies, and evasion is great if you can get it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@AggelosM57 Killing enemies increases your rage and dmg. When you kill an enemy, your cooldowns decrease by your rage. Rage decreases after not killing enemies for a few turns. (Ab)Use strafe attack. Remember that energy effects like MP pot/well reset cooldowns.
