Order of upgrades: cannon, shield, cannon, engine, allies. Then destroy the outer layer of suns. Then upgrade cannon, shield, engine, allies, engine, and take out the middle layer. Shield, cannon, engine, and then whatever you want, before taking out the last layer, and then the red sun. If ever the space station is taking heavy damage, attack one of the yellow suns, so the newly spawned enemies go for you instead of the station. When attacking a yellow sun, fly ahead of it's path, and try to get your shots to go through the yellow sun and hit enemy units.

Good game. Do not focus on getting all upgrades before fighting the outer layer of suns or you will take hours to finish. Upgrade the cannon to max, upgrade the shield at least 3-max times, engine by at least 2-max times, allied units (optional, but can be useful in defending the space station while fighting the evil sun), then the upgrades that cost 120 Ether (also optional, but can be helpful). Start with outer layer of suns, then middle, then inner, then the evil red sun. 5/5 for not-to-easy and not-to-hard gameplay, and lots of upgrade options, also the spacebar pause button is great to pause when it lags to avoid drifting far away from the space station. The enemies are not too op, but also not too weak. Recommended to those who like space shooter games.

A nice 5 minute game (maybe 10 minutes.) Just focus on cannon at first until it costs 100 to upgrade, then buy triple shot, then upgrade shield and engines one time to kill outer shell of suns. Then upgrade shield and engine again to get middle shell of suns. Then upgrade engines to max to get inner shell of suns, if you gather enough ether buy second cannon and/or missiles, and then finally kill center. 5/5 stars, great game by this programmer. It's too bad he's been inactive since 2016.

Not too hard once you figure out the strategy. Iinitially, you want to hang out in the fiercest battle you can survive, out of range of both your allies (who kill-steal without giving ether) and the yellow suns. This spot doesn't move much, so you can neglect engine and focus on aggressive upgrades to collect ether faster. Seeking missiles and triple shot are especially useful, since aiming is hard, and they'll protect you more efficiently than a shield.
Once you've got ~6 offensive upgrades, you're ready to hunt the yellow suns. Even with maxed-out guns they take a long time to take down, and move fast, so you'll need to start seriously improving your engine and shield at this point.
Good luck!

I screwed up my week by forgetting to go to yesterday's game, a badge I already had, so I had to try this again. The easy badge just takes a couple times to start over, and get some upgrades when you can. I got cannon, shield, engine and allied units, then cannon again, and managed to not die before I got the easy badge. Phew! Anyway, my remarks - I got really lost, far away from my ship or any enemies, and no idea what direction to try to get back, up down left right? No idea, and messages that my ship was taking heavy damage. The little scope on the bottom was no help to me. I might have found it, but that session had ended, and I started again, and stayed closer and won the easy badge in about 5-10 minutes.

for those who are strugling: dont play defensive, dont defend your mothership, just attack the yellow ones, and leave the others to your allies.

enemies need more variety. you shouldnt just be shooting multicolored spheres that dont have any other distinguishing characteristics. there should also be more danger on the screen. game looks pretty simple if youre just circling around and shooting randomly. the game view should be the whole map instead of this zoom in effect. 1/5 not so nice game.

Awful hitboxes man, they hit you all teh time, and you can barely hit them back... not to mention those things that follow you arround and are impossible to shake off

the space station is taking heavy damage? well, no @#$%! so that's why i keep losing turrets, is it? i never would've guessed.... kinda hard to see a blasted thing with this many particles and effects to begin with. kills the fun factor pretty quickly, despite the ever compelling porn beatz. ftr, playing on defence is a pretty great way to get yourself nowhere fast and blasted into atoms with nothing to show for it.

If you are having trouble: upgrade weapons first, shield after two weapon upgrades. Once the protectors speed up, upgrade engines once or twice. Triple shot first, then repulsor shield. You cannot win if you die more than two or three times, as the enemy grows exponentially if you don't destroy the protectors fast enough.

About 20 mins to kill the evil sun. Just forget the space station, defending it is a waste of time. Start killing the Yellow circles and go from there. Get some weapon upgrades and good to go. Never got smart missiles, allies, or max shield or engine.

am I playing on hard mode without realizing it? This game is impossible, yet I see comments saying how easy it is. How do I find easy mode?

Lots of fun, however it's quite easy, I'd like to actually feel pressured to go protect my base. Apparently there's a "Space station is taking heavy damage" message, (suggested from the comments) which I never saw ever and having played this game multiple times from the past and coming back to it, I still have never seen that message

I like how this game added a little bit of time management (enemy upgrades) to the game, so it is not just like any other space shooter game.

My strategy is to just upgrade my cannon and occasionally my engine and focus on taking down the enemy shield (the gold orbs).

It took literally forever to figure out the fact that i could press space to access the upgrades and not need to go to the centre of the space station.

The main issues i see in this idea of mine are- servers have to be able to support a LOT of players, and people may prefer a group 'vote' on what the upgrades are, instead of having a player be human commander or brood mother. I think it has potential as a multiplayer game, but that's just me.

I've replayed this game multiple times over through the years... it's a very multiplayer-friendly concept. Why it hasn't been looked into yet is a mystery. Broods vs Humans. It would be interesting to see a player that uses the gathered ether (human material for broods)- to upgrade the capabilities of the entire team, and based on the upgrade level, a certain amount of players can play as an upgraded ship (like the ally upgrades) the damage they do, the damage they take, etc. This would work for both teams, since broods also upgrade. Also, all the defending turrets could also be players that chose to take control as a defense turret. when that turret is destroyed, they then are forced into doing space battle as another ship or brood. .

Fantastic game dude, love it. I thought that the pacing of enemy increase vs self increase was good, the death was punishing but not game ending, and the AI were convincing, chasing the player as they got to the mothersthip, but prioritizing the base when they were close to it. Very well made.

Great game... still. But this was up for BotD one month ago... oh well, 2 seconds to get my daily badge I guess haha.
