great game but the main thing that would improve it for me is save files for the actual missions where if you stop half way through then you can come back to it

There needs to be a way to recall the colonists. Either that, or they need to be smart enough to go back to base if they're severely hurt.

I am sure I am simply missing something, but I am stuck on the second mission. I have placed buildings, I have run water and power to all buildings, but yet they workers will only mine, no matter what I attempt to change, they only mine... oh and die of hunger.

@thoulostght: The colonist respawn at the "crazy colonist hovel" located at the top-right of the map; if you click it, your colonist will target it and eventually destroy it, and the enemies won't respawn anymore. Also, if you wish to keep your mining colonists from attacking, go into the job tab and turn off "guard" on the right; that way they'll keep working even if enemies are nearby. Of course, make sure somebody is shooting at those crazy colonists!

ok cool game and all but on the second level there are crazy colonist people who respawn if you kill them which isnt cool because the your colonists will ALWAYS try to kill them so if their mining, building, or repairing they'll stop to fight this is annoying beyond words (at least words that arent cus words xD) so for me this game is a 4/5 has some points that probley can be updated otherwise this game is legit

well i find a easy way to deal with the mission 5 raiders ships destroy their HQ at the start and you don't have to worry bout their ships anymore. 1Y 5M not a single raider ship has showed up

I think I would like this game, but it was really small on my screen and I had a hard time reading anything. Maybe it's just my screen, and just my eyes but I've never had this problem with a game before...

how to get the medbay? and what about being able to build walls? and enemies that also build colonies, on larger maps? :D 5/5

In the beginning I hated the ressources system (having to make components out of metal and food/O2 out of water) this maked me more than once locked as I didn't have any metal/component and no metal extractor... this was so annoying... and then I understood what I had to do and when I had to do it... and repeated it in each mission... : It should be much more complicated : each mission has to be unique, has his own strategy...
I also hate AI, while fighting, while mining even while doing anything, they always act like idiots.
Finally, It's far too short, 6 mission and a bonus level : that's not enough. 15 would be great... more would be awesome... as I played it looks like a big tutorial.
But even with those problems, it's 5/5 for me. with some improvements it would deserve a 7 or 8/5. it would even deserve to be one of the greatest game on kongregate.

this game has a lot of potential, maybe more maps and hard mode could make it batter. I have found some "bug", while you activate "faster mode", there are so many "shocks" in the game, like mini delays and this is even worse when a sand storm is coming.

Seeing as you replied to some of the critics i'd like to add of what I think are the weak points. Not so you feel bad about the game, but so you can improve it.
1. The battles: I find once you get the hang of how the "+2 fighting power" dudes work and get one or two of them with a medbay theyre pretty much invincible and the whole fighting aspect of the game is just an annoyance at best.
The last level (bonuslevel) was pretty much a walk first time I played it.
I'm not sure what could be done about it, but I played and liked first and foremost the "building the economy and base" bit.
2. It's too short: I wouldve gladly played twice as many levels with more difficult goals and/or bigger maps. I basically played through the whole game in what? 4-5 hours? I know its a lot of time for a browser game but I can't help thinking theres much more potential!

I like Mars Colonies a lot. Very awesome game right there.
First off, the whole interconnectedness of recourses and supplies in combination with the jobs is very nice indeed. I also love the piping system.
Also the jobs and hiring aspect is quite fun. (BTW.: what does inacurracy mean? Is it that when combatting they miss more often?)
Second: The difficulty level (hence the learning curve) , except for the last two levels, is perfect imo. Playing it the first time never leaves you thinking you could cock around and get away with it.
Third: Awesome graphics. I digg the style.

Elite Raiders are too OP. Their single drop pod in the middle of my base with 6 colonists and 3 bunkers was enough to left me with a single colonist alive.

More upgrades like "faster science generation", a sandbox mode and defense systems are missing in this game, in my opinion. The game is already good enough for a 4+ rating!

This game is underrated, it deserves a 4+ rating and that is an understatement. I like how all colonist have their own strengths and flaws. I would be nice to know the exact numbers: f.e. thick, speed reduced by X %. There should also be a way to skip a certain colonist to hire. I would recommend that you can pay X science to change all colonists to hire. Geotowers have two major flaws: (1) sometimes the best collection of resources is just below it and you have to destroy it and then build it again and (2) it is hard to defend cause it is sometimes far out of base. A solution to both problems would be that once you know where all the resources are, destroying the geo tower doesn't undo that knowledge. This game is really good and has much more potential. Make campaign longer, add single missions, let the player chose difficulty, add defensive towers, make an AI that can build the same things, more units/buildings, ... . 5/5.

Love it! I look forward to a sequel or more levels someday, including some giant alien monsters in addition to the anthropoid opponents, and some heavier artillery to stop them.
