Hmm, CS5 must be different from CS3 since I can make the ship, get it to move, and get the arrow keys working, but it never stops going right. I have to hold the left key in order to stop it, but if I let go of that it will start going right again. And I copied the code exactly from the tutorial, down to the last bracket.

My ship doesnt move if i press the keys nothing and when it said it will move automaticly from left to right doesnt moved

Could someone who actually got this to work please tell us the WHOLE code, with all the indents and spaces and other crap that flash needs right on the spot or you won't get jack.

My error says "Symbol=Ship, layer=Layer 1, frame=1, Line 1 The class or interface 'Ship' could not be loaded." if anyone can figure it out, I bow down to you.

I am stuck on page 9 I am having the same problem that I had last time, there is NO ship whatsoever on my test. Nothing, just a blank page. This needs to be updated cause the current version of flash is CS5, not CS3. And really, basically everyone is getting stuck on this thing.

Say, if you dont want to make a Ship Game you can make one of those Indestructo tank right? just by removing those Ups and Downs and make the enemy attack from below

LOL i notice if you pressed up or down till it goes out of the screen it'll take the exact same time to come back into the screen. xD

Stuck on page 9, I can't make the ship move. The code is perfect, the code and fla are saved in the same place, and the ship is a movie clip. What could I have done wrong? They're both capitalized Ship.... I'm using actionscript 2 like it tells me to

Is there a way to use ActionsScript 3.0? Will changing the size of the screen (modify>document) effect the game play?

can someone make a flash tutorial in which u learn how to create characters? as in like mario
so u can make a moving and make them jump and so on and so forth, cuz i cant find it anywhere

I was stuck on Step 9 because my ship didn't move. I tried everything and got so frustrated I closed out the Flash and started over. I found out that as I was saving my second Ship.as, my first .as file was named something like Script-1.as (the default) and that I forgot to change the name. Moral of the story: always be 100% certain you are following the tutorial exactly, don't rush through things, and read steps even if they tell you that you can skip over them (for future reference).

Notice.... SOME PEOPLE DONT UNDERSTAND THINGS THEY READ UNLESS THEY ARE DOING IT AT THE SAME TIME! ... Maybe... Step one is a mind f**K! for me!

For those of you who are OOP fans like me, and really want to learn AS3, Here's the class from this example redone for AS3. It has the exact same functionality, uses most of the same conventions, and borrows a bit from NG BBS
(http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/773868)
(will paste in segments to allow for 1000 character limit)
