said so already, but again: very nice strategy game!
just sad the badges are so buggy... (didn't register challenge 4 and that's a pretty annoying one)

Rating: Starts with 3.
Innovative +1(I can't believe that it's a RTS);
Story +1(This should have been the back story for Red Alert 3);
=> 5/5 I smiled when I heard the ending song, reminds me of Weird Al Yankovic's music.

You can get upgrades on : All power plants, and gas. Not on weapons, farms, labs, factories.
You want to (for the Challenges) not use coal power. Nuclear is the best. For most of the challenges, I used 2 - 3 Nuclear plants, one factory, and a few farms.
For the chapters, just learn when you go. Coal's okay, but the less smog = *much* easier game play, though I beat all 9 chapters with high smog, took a week though.
Walk throughs are on Youtube.

ya i finally completed all 5 u r right challange number 5 is tough but i did it with solar plants, wind farms and flamethrowers
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
yay i completed all the challanges again :D
number 5 was hard. But just build like 4 nuclears and defend them with turrets. YAY!

for all of those saying the campaign isnt completing, just wait a few hours, quit the game and leave.... thats what i did and it gave it to me the next time I logged on.

argh, I have completed campaign 4 3 times now and it still wont register as complete!!
1,2,3 & 5 register fine but 4 doesn't as it seems to think it is the free play map.

i loved this game.but what threw me off was zral a good zombie help the humans and dies that was truly a part of the game that threw me off the most id give this game a 10/5

what the hell!!!!!! i completed this game last nite and now it says i only completed 4 levels. thats bullshit dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too much going on in this game, it made it a lot less enjoyable for me. Once you hit a dead spot in one resource, its pretty difficult to rebound from it. I didn't enjoy the game at all.

You make an excellent point, brinebold. You'll notice that in hard mode that Geothermal is less prevalent, and I'll be sure that future versions of the game have more diverse maps in terms of available resources :)
Of course, Geothermal IS pretty great in real life- just ask Iceland. Almost 100% of their energy is geothermal. Of course, it helps that their entire country is basically a dormant volcano with tons of underground steam...

For the sake of balance I think you need to cut way back on the geo spots on the maps. Geo plants might cost a lot to build but they're essentially free output after that. No smog, relatively little food reqs, no engineers needed for waste storage, and decent output after upgrades means that you can support a massive city with 0 smog as soon as you start churning out your 4th geo. Nuclear is easier in startup costs and positioning but TBH its never overly difficult to protect a small point in this game (surround it with teslas) and I've never had difficulty holding the zombies with 1 coal/gas while building the geos.
IMO the ability to create power without smog needs to be checked by something other than startup costs because facing 0 smog zombie waves is worth more than any energy cost.

Energy flow needs to be more constant. Perhaps some sort of storage mechanisms should be in place... because it's really annoying to have 999 energy every time it comes in, and have everything shut down because there's too much drain on the system before the next energy tick.

I think the confusion might have been about where does the Geothermal plant get steam? It gets it "free" from the Earth - it doesn't actually spend any fuel boiling anything! :) Otherwise it WOULD be totally unrealistic.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Geothermal has operation costs of course, just not on the scale this game models. Keep in mind 1 unit of in-game smog is meant to represent a very large number of metric tons of Co2, Methane, NOX, etc, all collected in one variable.
For the purposes of this game, geothermal generates no measurable amount of smog.
The zombies are completely unrealistic and just there to provide a challenge, but I assure you the research is based on solid data. I can provide you with better numbers and my research sources if you are still skeptical.

Now, as for efficiency: both Nuclear plants and Geothermal plants are "steam" plants, Nuclear plants use nuclear reactions to generate heat to generate steam to generate energy - you are astute in observing that coal does the same.
Now, the thing is, the earth, as you dig deep into it, gets progressively hotter the further down you get and begin to approach the mantle. There are large pockets of natural hot springs and superheated water down there if you know where to look, but obviously these are not available everywhere. (Hence geothermal only available on certain maps).
Geothermal plants form a closed loop where this superheated water is drawn up, used as steam to turn a turbine, condenses to water when it cools down again, and is fed back into the bowels of the earth for re-heating. It is actually a VERY efficient process, though, as the game models, not resulting in "more output" than nuclear.

@Istentelen:
I appreciate the feedback!
However, I'm not sure what you're upset about, because Nuclear DOES produce more than goethermal in the game. Were you comparing them on the different upgrade levesl? Go into sandbox mode and see for yourself:
Here's the deal. You'll see that Geothermals cost about 200 energy to build, and produce about 12.5 energy. Nuclear costs about 125 energy for a 25 energy output. Upgrade them and they will both have better outputs. And, if you can find a "super" geothermal spot, their output doubles to 25 because of the abundance of steam resource. But their output per building cost is much lower even still - Nuclear plants produce just as much at level 1 as a super geo plant at level 1, and are over twice as cheap to build. (Geothermals are actually quite cheap in real life, it's just that One in-game geothermal plant represents a whole array of them. Just as a wind plant in-game represents a whole wind farm, not just two turbines).

Toan133: Actually the coal plants are heat plants, becouse they make energy by boiling water. The geothermal plant does the same, but it boils hot thermal water, wich needs much less energy to boil. But if the geothermal plant needs to burn like the quater of the fuel a normal heat plant burns, that's still not negligable. And yes, if I accept that waste eater intelligent talking mutant zombies roam the post-apocalyptic world, I could also accept if wizards and such would fighting them on the side of the humans. But it seems this game wants to teach some about the energy production, and in that case such mistakes as those I mentioned before are much less acceptable.

Ok, throwing a second comment about that game. More challenging that it basically looked like, I had hard time with challenge 4 more than the last one, thanks to all useful comments & advices I saw in here guys that did help & got me through.
Wish there will be a sequel to this game. 4/5

great game, but it won't ever give me the badges I earn. I've beaten challenge after challenge, and still nothing. I've beaten campaign mode alone 4 times now, and it still says I need to complete chapter 9 to earn that particular badge. Sadface.
