Pretty decent game. Fun to play, but the hit-box-detection is so inaccurate. Please fix that. The other annoying thing ist that on some backgrounds the contrast is so low, that you won't see your bullets neither your enemies. If you fix these things it might become a very good game. Greetz

overall good, a lot of nostalgia here for me, but losing all powerups on death is really bad design. Making the game so unforgivable, when it takes a while to get interesting as it is, kills replay. Also I can't get mute to work? 4/5

Oh my God I love this game. I played it a few days ago but did not get to rate it. I love almost everything about it. The retro graphics, the powerups, and the MUSIC. Props for using SID chip tunage. However, it is not 100% perfect. My only complaint is the hit detections is a bit off. If that were fixed this would be a definite 5/5. Until then: *4.5/5*

Its a pretty fun game, but there are a few movement problems, and if you pick up 2 powerups of the same type (or a firerate booster) quickly, then only one works.

I know a lot of words, but I can't think of one that properly explains how terrible this powerup system is (though I'm leaning toward "abomination".). It makes collecting a powerup a gamble and a liability if you have at least level 2 of a weapon, which is the opposite of good in a shooting game.

So if someone of you encounter a problem with the diagonal movement, maybe you should close all other flash applications and refresh this site to load the game again.

Hi there thank you for all the comments,
diagonally up/ left is working on my computer with this version, so i dont know what happens on yours, maybee there was some other flash application opened in an another window or so, but really dont know what was

its really annoying that the powerups fade ater a while. and you shouldnt try to make users read a block of text while att eh same time killing enemies and dodging their shots.

I have to rate this as crap because the power-ups are mutually exclusive, they flip between too often (so that they can get through all of them before it falls off the bottom of the screen) so it becomes impossible to actually get the same one twice.
Bullets fired by you don't travel fast enough or often enough requiring almost perfect aim.

I like the deliberately retro stylings of this game, with the sid tune and the 2D graphics. I wish the enemy design and attack patterns weren't so simple and predicatable, though.

Seriously, this game is awesome. It's fairly challenging, but it's also extremely generous with the powerups and extra lives. The powerup system is perfectly simple and great, and It's still possible to get back into the game after dying. I would like to see Kong high scores, and a badge or two if possible.

I found that the purple enemies that come from the bottom are unfair to players in their first run. Luckily they are fairly powered and predictable, which compensates for their surprise factor. I find the death penalty fair. It's not impossible to continue after a death and get back in play if you're careful. One annoyance regarding powerups in Level 5 is that some end up being inaccessible if they fly over the rock areas. Also, is it possible to submit a score at the "You Win" screen, just like on game over? I don't recall it presenting one.
Overall I'm impressed over the general feel of this game. I would love to learn more about the creation of such a game.

An error I noted after you beat the final boss: the layer of rock on the sides covered part of the final text message.

if you look on the front page there is a help section that tell you what all the power ups do. Also when you die you get time in a protection mode and a Upgrade pod automatcally comes when u dies so you can upgrade a bit,

ok i changed a bit to the power up collisions, power ups should now apply instantly, the story script in game is only in the first level dont have to worrie later

Not bad but shots can be inaccurate at times. More work and API should be implemented, but its a great concept and very good for a space invaders remake!

four things are keeping this from being great, bullets need to be more visible, no story script during battles only during cutscenes, a way to mute music, and powerups regained after death, maybe like half of them or something

Nice little top down shooter. Recollecting power-ups after death would indeed be nice. also it gets hard to see where your shots are going on some of the backgrounds. Its a great start, but there is definitely room for improvement. 3/5 overall

cute arcade implementation.. yep, the collision detection needs some improvement and a wider variety of upgrades would help so. on the other hand I kinda liked it, it is not tyrian but still fun .. make me remember the good old times :) 4/5
