Not for this episode, but in the entire series detective margh is sherlock holmes because of the revolver, the hat and the way he talks in general + deaductions + dumb assistant = sherlock holmes and watson
Ahah yeah, I see what you mean. Margh and Holmes do have many things in common, and I can't deny the influence.. afterall, Sherlock Holmes is one my favourite characters!

Oh my! My favorite detectives in one game: Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple and (of course) Margh. Wonderful crossover! God bless Lu_Muja.

Loved it!Riddles weren't very hard and I knew (partly ;) ) who did this the first time I reached the end but to realise the whole truth I needed a second approach and I gathered all the clues to be able to prove it during the third. Game wasn't frustrating hard but wasn't easy-peasy either ;).
Can't wait for "ZS Dead Detective" on Steam!
Not really, I never intended Margh as a Sherlock Holmes parody, to be honest. And I didn't introduce such a parody in this episode, either, because I'd have felt obliged to give the Holmes' parody a bigger role than necessary.

And I was right (though not quite about the motive at first, shame on me)! Loved the game as usual.
All top detectives are invited in the same place by a mysterious organisation without further explanation. Indeed, "what could possibly go wrong?" :-p
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It seems like I could still enter the secret room without one mandatory clue (the one right from the invitation). I'm pretty sure I figured it all out, but I guess that because of missing this clue, I can't select my prime suspect... I tried the two options I do have, but not much to my surprise, they were both wrong. Can I still get the clue after entering (and leaving) the secret room? I can't find the walkthrough.

Incidentally -- I'm blanking on who Detective Sighret is based on. Obviously, the other characters are Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Nero Wolfe, Arsene Lupin, but THAT reference goes over my head. Anybody less clueless than I am about it?

I absolutely love this series and would quite happily throw a few quid your way for a decent length mobile app. My only criticism, and I suppose it's a minor thing (and I'm not going to mark you down for it), but it really bugs me that there's inconsistency between the graphics. There's a difference of pixel size/slight graphic style.
Thank you a lot for your kind comment. About the graphics, you're right. I often use free custom pixel art for my games, and they don't always match very well together. I'll try to be more careful next time, thanks again!

FYI, I got the hint that Poiroar went missing from Ghvnn before poiroar went missing. It did lead me to go to him, and then he disappeared, so that was good :P
Eheh it's not the only reference... every character in this episode, except for the usual protagonists, is a parody of a well-known literary character ;)

I have 3 suspects in the end (collected all evidence), but when I try to accuse one of them it contradicts with the fixed deaduction "Lugroan didn't fail". Other two variants result in both objectives fail. Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug?
No, that is not a bug... you're missing one small, very important clue. Check the walkthrough if you can't find it (you'll find it in the options panel). Thanks for playing!

ok. lil bugs. 1 Margh's head is still animated while Wooh is talking about painting 2 Tip about riddles should not pop up after solving all of them 3 magnifier's tip in a main hall should not point empy nicotian's spot

I love this series. Some QA for you: A typo in Mooh's comment when I look at the painting. And another when we find Sighret looking at the open coffin. And one more in the explanation. (He SNUK in.) You really should release these to me before the rest of the public so I can do this free QA for you before anyone else sees it. :-)
Thank you for your nice comment and your QA... I'd really like to test the games for bugs and typos before publishing them, but there's rarely the time :)

I managed to complete the game without another softlock (at least one of Miss Marghle's first clues can be skipped, and is required for two others), but needed to look at the walkthrough to get 100%. I think you should at least have an empty clue spot or two to let people know they should keep poking around the penultimate room.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm pretty sure I managed to softlock my game - I reached the ending puzzle with all clues except for the three SURROUNDING the top-left invitation clue, which left me with four total deaductions that didn't form a conclusion in any combination and three pieces of evidence that couldn't form any conclusions. Replaying isn't too much of a hassle, but it still shouldn't be possible.
My god, you were totally right. That was a huge flaw in the design, so I've corrected it immediately by adding a little convo that won't allow you to proceed to the secret room unless you have at least all the mandatory clues to form a deduction. You also gave me an idea for future games, so I really thank you for your feedback!

Love these games. I had problems with the one of the last clues but after finding peaking at walkthrough i found the correct person.

Really interested/excited to see this all come together! Been following since Brain Drain, and these just keep getting better and better!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Yep. Another great game and I really enjoyed it. I kinda suspected there was something fishy going on in Poiroar but I didn't have enough clues to find that evidence, and I can't go back from the treasure so Yea I had to solve it then come back and it was fairly obvious who did it.

contest manipulation by submitting very late in the month and getting very high rating with as little game plays as possible for submission
I'm very sorry you think this way, but let me assure you this is not true for a number of reasons: 1- The contest never ends at the last day of the month, instead Kong's staff take at least two weeks to observe the natural evolving and stabilizing of the ratings before ending the contest; 2- I often submit my games at the very end of the month only because I'm very lazy and tend to procastinate until there's very little time; 3- I rarely place first anyway, and the only time I did it, I did NOT publish the game at the end of the month, so I think the correlation between ratings and dates are not as important as you think; Thank you for your comment and feedback anyway, I see how this could look not very nice, so I'll try to avoid publishing my games at the end of the month in the future if I can

while missing the top middle and second from the bottom right evidences, asking ghvynn for help will make margh say poiroar has gone missing even if he's right in front of me

I can walk around again, but only 2 of us loading in the final room, guess I'll have to start from the beginning to beat it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Ooh, i wish the autosave feature doesn't actually save when i enter the final room. The first time i play, i need to restart from the beginning because for some reason i think i should check on Sighret first rather than checking the final secret door, lol.
The tricky part with this episode is that if you haven't found all clues before reaching the final scene, you won't be able to get the max score. However, the episode is designed so that when you load your data after completing it, you can still go back to find the missing clues without restarting the game! Check the walkthrough if you need any help, and thank you for playing and for your comment!

Not sure this is a bug, because I got in through the close wall and solved the thing all over again, and discovered the cutscene in the room with the chest. I'm confused.
You got it, as I've explained in the reply to your other comment the game is supposed to work that way this time around - you can only solve the case during the last confrontation. Thank you nonetheless for your comments, hope you had fun!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I've just experienced a bug after finishing the game at 27 points. The bottom deduction (the one with the stolen money) just.. disappeared. There is a red arrow pointing from its nothingness to the correct conclusion, preventing me from confirming it again (to rewatch the correct end scene). I have a sreenshot of the bug. If you'd like, PM me and i'll send it over.
Great game overall, but I think i've seen the captain before in the specific context before... and the end scene..
That is no bug, that final deduction is only available at the very last scene, when you're forced to form a theory to proceed. So you can't solve the case until you go in that room. Thank you for playing, hope you liked the game!

Got stuck at the end, too. I got there without all clues, so I had to restart the hole game. Maybe you could stop the Player before you get to the last dialogue without all clues?
Nice game tho.
Thanks! But I think the confusion is coming from the fact that in this episode, unlike previous ones, you CAN solve the case even if you don't find ALL the clues - though you'll need to find them all to get the max score, of course. Basically, you're NOT stuck. Choose a suspect among the possible options you have, then change your deductions accordingly

This edition of Zombie Detective is fantastic! I felt that the riddles were fairly easy to figure out, but the clues and theory were challenging. Really great game, I just wish it lasted longer, ha!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Thanks for that! I admit I never would've thought to look there, so I guess it served its purpous. Besides that, great game. Also, I found a bug: when you click on "credits", it plays the opening cutscene (with the inviation and locked door), then plays the actual credits, then cuts to the main menu. When you load the game after that, it plays the "recap" scene, no matter if sighret is there or not, so his dialog might just come out of thin air...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This game was worse than average. The out-of-place graphics and things you wouldn't figure out on your first playthrough are a downgrade from your normal Zombie Detective game. 3/5
I'm sorry you think so. While I admit the graphics aren't as good as always this time, I purposely made the game a bit harder so you couldn't find all clues on your first playthrough if you're not careful enough. That's because I wanted to add a bit of replayability, as well as making things not too easy. Thank you for your feedback anyway!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Ok, there must be something I'm not getting, because I can't solve it to save my life. I get to the end confronation, with all 12 clues, and try all possible conclusions, but I still can't get it right. There's one more conclusion I can try and make, but it's locked behind the last deduction (the one you automatically get when entering the final confrontation). I just don't get it...
You ARE missing something - which isn't technically a clue, but it's important to get the max score. And I can't tell you here in the comments because it's too much of a spoiler... but if you really can't find it, check the walkthrough in the options panel!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I've been able to reach the confrontation scene a few times, but never been able to get all of the hints, at which point the game just locks up and becomes unbeatable. Also, if you don't get into the secret room, give up and reload your save the game will think you visited the secret room, even if you never did.
Thank you for your precious feedback, I've immediately fixed both bugs. If you load your save file now you should be able to finish the game. Once again, I'm very sorry about the inconvenience!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Made it to "Let me explain..." And when I selected an option, everything locked up. The cursor shows a pen, but there is nothing to click. Cannot progress.
Thank you for your feedback, I've fixed the bug right this moment. If you load your save file now you should be able to finish the game. I'm very sorry about the inconvenience!
