So technically, he ported the entire engine, along with the entire BSP level system, so we should be able if we had the source, to make our own levels.. Awesome! :D

I've only played 1 level and it is already better than modern warfare 2!! Just needs to keep the mouse in the game screen for it to work properly in flash version.

The fact that the game was released as open source is irrelevant, it was released as open source - not for profit. This is clearly making money from ad revenue.

I lost so many days to Quake even years after it was released. To think that I can now play it in Flash...
Damn, technology has moved on.

for those who can't control with the mouse, get a new mouse because your left click button is broken, as long as you keep the mouse button down the window captures your mouse movement, even if you go outside the flash window

Never been a big fan of fps games. Even Doom or Wolfenstein 3D didn't impress me much. In comparison to most of the other games on Kongregate this is pretty decent. Also, compliments on the coding. Great performance in every way.
I gave it 3/5, because FPS are my least favorite genre.

@matteson - This is not the first FPS game in existence, for the real grandaddy of them all, check out "Wolfenstein 3D". That was the groundbreaker that catapulted the FPS genre into prime time. Quake was the first one that made multiplayer FPS games a playable reality. For that it deserves its place in computer game folklore.

Wow, I remember playing this online over a 28.8bps modem. It was great when you had a ping less than 500! LOL one of the all time great games.

There are four reasons for me to play this game right now: First, I haven't played the original, and I would be a failure as a gamer to not even try this classic. Second: The original was an awesome game, and I could go for some more fun right now. Third: It's awesome to see that flash is finally starting to get these capabilities. And lastly: This must've taken you quite a bit of work to port this into flash, and I'd be ashamed of the entire Kongregate community if that work wasn't rewarded.

Just noticed a bug. If you try to run forward and shoot at the same time, it closes the browser. Hopefully they can fix this.

This is pretty good. I never played Quake (gasp!), and I've always wondered what's so great about it. I know now.
