Well, it now looks slightly less like an Arcomage clone, but i think it was a better game when it was a little closer to its source, they would have done better to introduce a few more interesting cards than just pretty it up some and leave the gameplay identical.

Hard mode is somewhat overpowered. For instance the southwestern most territory appears harmless at first glance, and the difference between the sizes of both castles and both walls seems fair enough. Now we look at the resources, The enemy has a little over twice as many bricks, 4 times as many weapons, and 10 times as many crystals as you do. This means they can use curse, dragon, sacrificing, and other powerful cards and completely bastardize all you have on the first turn thus dooming you.

On hard mode, you do start out with a moderate amount of resources, but not much in the way of replenishment rate. So the key is to have a lot of builder/mage/recruit cards and not to get below 8 of anything before you get a chance to recruit some more.
Of course your opponent might destroy your bricks/crystals/weapons by then, but that's just the luck of the draw. You can't win them all, but if you play smarter than the CPU, you can win after enough tries.

Multi-resource cards are a nice addition. The AI is still dumber than a box of rocks, but then again, how else are you going to win on hard mode?

the gain crystals card is pointless. you gain 8 but use 5 to do it so u only really get 3 which dont help much but good game 4/5

I have one problem with this game. It really doesn't make much sense for the "Add crystals" card to cost you 5 crystals and give you 8, so basically you only gain 3 whereas the other "Add" cards will give you much more of a benefit.

Layout of the resource counter should be color coded, resources grouped together and workers grouped together. Then not mirrored on the enemy's side. The way it's layed out now, even after playing for a couple of hours I still have a hard time figuring out what's what.

love the music. :). and the game play is not perfect but it is really nice. 5/5 favorited. :D. i love castle wars. i can't wait for the 3'rd one if you decide to make it. :)

I loved this game. Favorited for sure. The only thing that gets me is the "add crystals" cards. They cost 5 to give 8, but in the end you get 3. Close to useless.

great game, i never played the first but i love the second. playing on medium or hard is near impossible because all you do is sit there with no resources cuz the enemy killed all of your builders. i think the recuit, mage and builder cards should give you +2 instead, to make it a little more fair when dealing with the sacrifices.

Biggest gripe is that castles seem puny compared to the first. I mean, in the first one, you could tell that Babylon actually grew your castle. In this one, you have to look at the number to see how close your opponent is to 100.

In the first place, Castle Wars was not even this guys game to begin with. The actual game goes far back to one of the old gaming consoles, I forgot which. Then it was remade as Ant Wars a couple of years ago. And simply by switching some names this guy stole it and made it castle wars.
As for the actual game. The "Difficulty" modes are absolute bull. The counters for resources are very lame, nowhere near as helpful as the first. And having to click on a button to read a card? What the hell?
Atleast he gave some effort by trying to make the game his this time, instead of shamelessly adding a different background and changing card names.

Nice updates, nice soundtrack (track3 is so beautiful!!) If only the castles could grow really big, that would be awesome :)

for those who are having difficulty with hard...plan out ur deck in the deck manager. most of the cards are unlocked from the very beginning. build your deck with only attacking cards and focus on, trojan+magic weapon = 60 castle damage, focus on using weapon cards but also use magic and building cards. or try only defence cards with "magic defence" if your opponent is playing strong cards like trojan or dragon on you. pixies, tower, and tavern should build you up to 100 castle for a win. for a defence deck, the only attack cards you should have are thief and recruit. thief = great resources and slows down the opponent

Like all sequels, they are crap. this is no exception. I would like to be able to read a message in 0.000000000001 seconds but i cant so why put a long ass message up for that long??? oh yeah. cause this game sucks.

Just using the starting deck, the difficulty something like triples when you go to medium difficulty.
Sure, you could spend some time building up a better deck to use, but it still seems a bit unbalanced.

Very challenging. UI choices are a little bad as per other comments. It took awhile to get the right deck, but I went with an ambush deck. Took it to them strong, only lost twice on Hard with that one. Good game with some bad UI. Also, the AI should react to the ambush strategy better. THey just build up a wall which I never attack :)

If you're having problem loading the game or starting campains make sure your not blocking mochiads.com with some kind of adblocker as the game streams its background music from this domain.

Clunky and lack of a good overwiev. Lots of easy-to-fix problems though;
- Color the resource symbols and color the whole card instead of just the frame.
- Bigger numbers on cards and on the resource bar.
- Move the resource bar bellow the castle graphics, above the cards. So you don't have to look up and down the screen all the time.
- Get rid of the action function, causes a lot of unnecessary clicking. Instead you could do left-click to cast, right-click to discard and hold mouse over to get info.
- Write the info statements shorter, only tell what the card does.
Otherwise a great game, liked the first one better though.

Very good sequel, even though the joy of making a big castle is gone..But the campaign is good, and gets really challenging at hard
