Good grief, I'm stuck on the very first screen. I got the rags and the gear, and they don't seem to interact with anything. What the heck??

Nice little game. Not sure what people are complaining about to be honest. It seems more like point and click isn't their type of game rather than there being anything wrong with the game in general. Bit short obviously but a nice start, looking forward to episode 2.
Much appreciated! We may not be able to make everyone happy, but we're trying our hardest to make it as enjoyable as possible for everyone who does play!

Even at full screen, the game screen is a bit too big for the window. Maybe reduce the dimensions (or at least the height) by about 10% if possible.

Great artwork though, and I agree with the comments from most everyone about the visual beauty of the game, looking forward to part 2.

Great art, interesting puzzles and a thoroughly engaging heroine. A must play for fans of point & click adventure games. Looking forward to further episodes.

The constant menuing slowly kills the game. Theres a reason why all games in point and click got an itembar readily available somewhere in the direct UI without having to navigate through stuff to get at a single item. Or at least a quickswap...

Whoa, a refreshing experience in the neverending ocean of idle incrementals and pay-to-win garbage. Can't wait for the next episode!

I haven't finished the game just yet but it looks great so far. Does anyone else think that Violet's top is a fetishy though?

Are you aware that ANOVA also is the name of a special statistical test? It stands for ANalysis Of VAriance. Apart from this fun fact (as much fun as statistics can be), I really enjoyed the game so far. Nice graphics and good story, hope to see the rest of this. Have to agree to the others, the hint system could need some improvements.
Total coincidence, but now we know! :D We're working to make Episode 2 an even better experience and considering all of the great feedback we've gotten so far!

So, I have moved the guy from the door, I have the key. I put it on engine and it says " I am pretty sure I need a key to unlock that" ???? I am putting the key on it....
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
in the begining at Joe's I get the key from the safe and use it on the chained engine and Violet says: I'm pretty sure we need a key to unlock this. I have a key!!!
Is it bc I don't have everything in these screens and unlocking the engine will trigger a cut scene? It's somewhat hard to understand why it's not working

I like the art, design and music however the controls are terrible!
I would really appreciate item hover highlight and text.
Also too much clicking!
The user interface should be more user friendly - you should use hold button select action to achieve this...

going to give it 4 stars, but it should have been 5 stars.
Definitely looking forward to episode 2. But the hint system needs reworking. No point telling me where I can click after I had clicked everything.
I was giving up on Kongregate, not enough enjoyable games or puzzles lately. I refuse to waste m time on idle clickers and thats what Kongregate mostly posts now.
With a slightly tweaked hint system and slightly longer game-play or slightly more puzzles episode 2 should be something to look forward too.
For those who are stuck, persevere even if its a case of trying every object with every location and visiting the location you have already.

Aside from the real nice artwork, neat animations and good puzzles there could be better tips givings in the story flow that, so far, was actually the main reason I played this.
Got stuck for the longest time trying to figure out how to distract the mopper dude and I have to admit that after getting half the code for the safe right I got stuck again and simply used the auto-solve feature.

This was a good play. Not to hard on the whits but not to easy either.
The light-bulbs help but are not needed.
Maybe a hard mode feature without helpers that unlocks a few more scenes as a bonus.
Thanks for playing, and thanks for the suggestion! We'll take that into consideration, along with all of the other awesome feedback we've been getting!

Also, I think making it slightly inconvenient to use an item on an object is necessary, otherwise it's too easy to pick up an item and click on everything on the screen till something works. Furthermore I enjoyed that there were come "red herrings" like the calendar and the spring.

The game is essentially perfect. Not sure why others are complaining. The whole point of this game genre is to do some trial and error until you solve things. Keep up the good work! 5/5

Nice game! Challenging at times, but satisfying in difficulty. The reset gear looks an awful lot like a settings gear. I'm glad you mad a confirm reset pop-up otherwise I would have lost all of my progress clicking on it. Perhaps you could change the image and make it red. I'm looking forward to episode 2!

(Kind of Spoilers)
Is there a way to work out the code puzzle without jus using sound with trial and error? I was playing muted and in the end I used trial and error but I was wondering if the clue is anywhere else in the game?

really enjoyed it but i can only give iut 3 stars for the time being. needs some polishing. i had a bit of a hard time figuring out some of the puzzles, and the help system isnt super great. maybe just improving the hint system. or even giving hints about what to do next. over all though quite fun., looking forwards to the next episode

The artwork and characters are great, so is the actual plot which is intriguing, but the actual gameplay mechanics are too confusing. Too many things are basically up to try and error, rather than being able to make logical guesses to the solution (either that or I'm too stupid to see the hints). The lightbulb function is useful - if only there wasn't so many bulbs on the screen at one time. Maybe something like removing the lightbulbs when I've exhausted interactions with that object, or just only showing lightbulbs for things I will actually need to use.

Thing with the whistling is, you've got the music on top of it, so the player has to go turn it off before getting on with the puzzle. It would probably be better to have that area without music (maybe instead some sound effects to break the silence) than make the player stop the game to go fiddle with the menu. That said, I think it was wise of you to give us a chance to brute force it, since it was a somewhat idiosyncratic puzzle. On another note, some messages need to be more specific when I try something that I can reasonably expect to work, eg when I use the wrong key on the machine or when I try the whole cork on the pipe etc I should get some information (ie thing doesn't fit in thing). Other than that, I loved ANOVA and its steampunk aesthetic. Can't wait for episode 2!

Really good game, sometimes it's a bit too hard to figure out the puzzles and the game hint system isn't all that helpful. The ending of the first episode is good, I just don't understand why they couldn't go around the military forces. Do they have a flying ship blockade that I don't know about?
Do you see the loading bar image come up when you refresh the page? If not, that would be a problem - please send us a DM and we'll see what we can do to help!

The artwork is solid, as is the world-building. However, the game moves sooooo slow, and the puzzles require far too much random clicking about. Need some kind of indication that inventory items can be combined.
Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback! We're already looking at ways we can make things more obvious without totally giving the solutions away - it's a challenge, but we'll do our best to meet it!

Really fun game. Gives me a lot of Deponia vibes. Some more helpful advice could be useful (for example: the cable is too short, the cork doesn't fit, the key doesn't fit) but I'm sure that those are just a few small issues that'll improve in the next chapter. And I'm used to having to search around in a point and click adventure game from the older titles. The only real point of critique I have is the very last action you need to do to find the artifact. I spend a long time searching for it, even with the lightbulb hint system. There is just no visual distinction to distinguish the hiding spot from any other background wall. Still, don't let that minor problem discourage you. Keep up the great work in the second chapter.
