Just got my Skater wings. Prior to that 3/5. With Skater wings 5/5! Total game changer for me. I'm massively addicted to this game.

It's okay to sacrifice speed for some other benefit. It's not okay to mandate you speed up somehow to make up for slow default movement. Also, I have two weapons - why can't I swap out the autocannon for something else? Cool game otherwise.

Hey great game so far, Mjolnir one shots bosses so it's very strong for how early you can get it, albeit I guess its ok due to the randomness. Omega is best by leaps and bounds especially if you tap X for basically constant shield charging (may want to change this, it make the game very easy to tank with only obviously dodging done). Lancer seems to also be very powerful for how early you get it. I destroys bosses with multihits and cuts tank herds down to size with ease. I feel the Jump Jet or Raven are needed as you have such little speed overall and need to manage such a relatively large screen. Also due to the slow speed many runs are simply ended by a faster enemy running into you with a quick bullet after, if you have full shield you should end with maybe 25% shield, especially for weaker enemies. Overall please make some of earlier upgrades more useful, there's a very small amount of actually viable builds due to the lack of speed of the mech, boss type, and "tank herds".

Improvements have definitely made it a better game! It's pretty grand, all considered. The only last thing I'd say is the increase curve-- getting upgrades generally really doesnt help me, because they're not actually... "up." Why would I trade in Raven, for instance? I love the focus on personalization v grind and upgrade, but the balance could be tweaked a little so that the high level upgrades do out-benefit the low, and that what once seemed an impressive score can be surpassed as your mech improves

Definitely great to see a reduction in shield size so player don't feel like they need to dodge such a large area. Perhaps let the player leave pause with the 'X' button since it's a minor annoyance to have to click the screen to get out when you unlock a weapon half way through the boss fight. It forces one hand off of either the movement keys or the shooting key, and the small delay to getting the hand back onto the key may cost them the fight.

I have everything unlocked, I used ragnarok, sentinel, lancer, raven. Everything else was pointless imo. I wish the higher level upgrades were more usefull, kinda boring playing most of the game with the same gears bc the new stuff was not as good.

I dunno, I'm having mixed feelings about this game. it's sorta fun to play, but I'm unlocking all these things that, by and large, don't feel like they have any real use. I get that you're trying to not impose certain playstyle/equipment choices as "the best", so you can't quickly give out upgrades that are just definitively better, because then well, it's just a matter of GRIND upgrade GRIND upgrade etc. Admittedly I haven't gotten all the components yet, but I have yet to see a number of components that make me go "well that seems like it might be useful in trade for x". This is an issue considering it takes at LEAST 1 round per unlock, and those can be fairly long rounds. And you also have some pretty objectively bad unlocks, two more health at the cost of movement speed are you MAD?! half fire rate at double damage, so misses hurt more. riiight.
depends on your play style, really. some people love the half fire rate/double damage, and the loss of movement speed can be compensated for by some other upgrades down the road.

This mech is supposed to be decades more advanced than the enemy, yet the enemy can move faster and shoot in any direction. Can I get a present day technology mech instead?

Great game! The only problem though is that I don't like how you unlock 2 things in a row that decrease your health, I only found the game harder when using them.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Also, perhaps some choice of what to unlock next? Some spending of points on unlocks, so you can save up and get the ones you want? This would change the game mechanic pretty heavily so may not wish to implement, but it might make it a little bit more streamlined/speed run potential
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Other things you may want to consider implementing-points for distance (giving more value to the dodge portion of the risk/reward type thing) and requiring certain high scores be achieved before progressing (say... 100k points to next level up, and at least a 50k run) would give playing even after reaching an upgrade more significance, instead of encouraging suiciding

Could also use a pause function, I was defending the games glorious honor in chat while playing, and verily I hate to wait to die until I could engage such miscreants with words! Also, could use a personal super mega ultra battle robot that deploys and smites down anyone who challenges the game's glorious honor.

The game is fun and hilarious, obviously! Had a minor disappointment with the pacing-- if you earn 60k points with 8k points until the next unlock, you are only credited with those 8k points. No roll over for excelling :(. The screen clear while injured may be better served as a bullet clear on injury, but not a major point either way. So far I'm enjoying it, you fine Nerdookly sir!

also the 'all enemies die' thing when you lose a life can be very annoying when you're about to take the boss out meaning you miss out on points
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It's quite a cute little game, if a bit grindy.
Also love how you made the character an adorable Natalie chibi, you should like have wallpapers and icons of her avaliable xD

Early game is incredibly slow due to the recharge system. Until you get upgrades one run gets very little in progress toward next unlock.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
my only suggestion would be to allow for multiple unlocks if you get the neccessary points got about 150k or so on a run and need 55k for one unlock and 75k for the next just a suggestion.

I really enjoy this game. Only one issue I noticed was the mute button was not working. Other than that you have delivered the quality games I have come to associate with Nerdook. Keep up the great work

I can't say I like it this time. :( The pewpew part is ok but enemies swarm you way too quickly, I found that a moment of raising shield energy will fill the screen with bullets too fast. Getting from top to bottom of the screen is too slow to effectively let you sweep. Some enemies (falling missile) can't be hit if you aren1t in a lucky position but is bound to damage you if you have shields. So you find yourself blazing away and hope to dodge. So far I made a few unlocks but they didn't really impact the gameplay at all. They either make no real difference or too little too rarely. Collectibles disappear on death. I quickly started feeling a drag. I initially made 2,5-3K points on the first try, and am still doing the very same with different components. Still a solid 4/5 for me.

Very fun! I can't get quite far yet, but I suppose you made it challenging on purpose. I really like the music. Great job!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Seems the layering hides enemy fire with yours, and the screen just seems too bust for a bullet hell game, I really can't see the enemy fire. But these aren't my kinds of games, I just wanted to try the new Nerdook game. If the people into the genre like it, keep it as it. Just my $.02

I get to be the top score until some good players come along and crush me into dust. For the mean time, how I got it! Double shield recharge + Lancer + double damage/half firing speed + whatever you want for the core. Don't worry about collecting dollarmoneys. Kill enemies for the combo multiplier, and every once in a while let a boss spawn. Kill the boss for massive points. Only shoot when necessary! Let your shield recharge quickly to take most of the hits, and shoot every once in a while when your lance is ready. It's useful for taking out tanks or lines of enemies, and the double damage is lovely and allows for more time spent recharging the shield.

Would be nice if the shield was a little closer to the robot rather than covering 1/2 the screen and trying to block every enemy shot.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It would be nice if your threat didn't go up from escaping enemies WHILE you are fighting a boss. Barely staying alive while killing one, just to have another appear almost immediately is pretty disheartening.

I have to collect disappearing money to upgrade? I REALLY hope one of the first upgrades is a magnet or it'll get extremely frustrating...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There is nothing that says what the green things that look like money do nor what the lightning bar does. As far as I can tell it makes points and that is it.

Clever shield recharge mechanic. Otherwise not so good. Way to much repetition. By normal standards an under-average shooter. By Nerdook standards... WTF?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Just some suggestions for improvment: Keybindings or alternate control scheme, I prefer ASWD, or better yet mouse for shooting and ASWD for moving. Second, a pause button and clicking outside the box pausing it. Otherwise, it's a solid game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This is a really good game and I am glad to see it in beta, So people can try to improve on an already great product instead of it being pushed through the door and ridiculed. The only problem I found with this version was the music got repetitive for me really quick so I turned it off and played my own. Other then that great game 5/5

I'm PRETTY sure you have it so you can only unlock one item at a time, which I think is a bad move, if you have an awesome round? like, somehow magically you're awesome enough to get 400000 on your first run or something? man, screw it, unlock everything that'd unlock naturally at that amount. Now you don't really feel any need to do beyond just what you need just to unlock the next item *unless I'm wrong, but with the values that are turning up for the next unlock versus what I ended with in a level? unlikely. they are not THAT even, and there's only so much coincidence*
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I think some kind of screen briefly explaining the interface more clearly once you start your first flight would be quite helpful. It took me a while to understand the threat, charge, life, and combo systems. The gameplay is enjoyable but it seems like it could turn into a major grind session. Right now I'm on the 8th upgrade and my scores haven't gotten much better. Overall, if there is an objective other than getting the highest score possible, I think the progression should be a little faster/easier.

Fingers trembling, 1 life left, averaging about 80K per game,X50 multiplier, the music has started to pick up, I can feel my heart beat in my head, should I take a break?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I have a love/hate relationship with the recharge system. I can't decide whether to try and kill it or try and dodge. So far I love it!

My thought process 'I'll get the badge of the day then do some homework' *gets on Kong* 'Oh a Nerdook game on beta, I'll check it out' I forgot that with nerdook games there is no 'check it out' there is only 'play until you beat it, then play it more, then keep playing until search parties are formed'

I'm surprised A Nerdook game has a beta, They're usually top grade and polished upon entry to Kong. Makes me excited to see what all this game has.
