Just scored 517,000 in nightmare mode. Might be last time I play it, it lacks motivation.challenge to replay.
In general: you want to skip a few clicks in order to get extra experience. The tracking and multiple hit upgrade are musts. Get the Brute first, then archer and get the monk last.

No ability to win the boss if you made any mistakes what so ever. Being theres no way to grind, as others have mentioned, Theres few methods of winning. I don't see a logical way to win, if you buy all the companions.

And won the campaign without dying once...hint for you guys. Don't go for the provinces that add mooks or their reinforcment rate...until last then do the once that increases their reinforcement rate...then the one that adds more mooks...upgrades...the once for damage to horsemen..then elites...remember less clicks is more exp. ricefields are for when your health is low not just because save them for the final battle...as a general rule if youve got 700 HP you can take 60-70 mooks plus the Daimyo when fighting the daimyo save super slash until he appears...it takes a big chunk out... the rest should be easy from there...invest any extra silver in perma skills etc.

Umm I beat the whole game without companions because I was too stupid to read the screen lol. Good news is it's doable, I got an A+ :p.. I noticed there were companions before the last battle but I said screw it and put it on HP. I came that far lol

Just got 5 stars on Nightmare on my 3rd try. Any chance of a harder setting? I really like this design but it needs a harder setting to improve replayability.

A game that let's you pay for mistakes made? FANTASTIC! Most games have two ways to victory: 1) Grind until a monkey can beat it or 2) be good and beat it. Hat's off you you, Nerdook, who had the nerdiness to make the latter one.

I would like to commend the developer on making a challenging game. Its like you are expected to be 'Hardcore Strategist Gamer' from the start.

I found the comment below helped the most. Combine this strategy with focus: charka, the cluster attack, movement speed, and clone hp buff. I got the clone buff as the second upgrade, and it was the only thing i spent my points on during boss fights. You start getting 2 to 4 clones which really helps.

Best thing to do Is to just upgrade ur samurai and then buy only one extra companion and upgrade both you're samurai and that companion .. But first get your samurai's stats sorted before u buy another companion..Just get the guy with the spear, Upgrade his health once or twice, But mainly his armor/dmg .. same for samurai, Health should always be upgraded as last..You should cap damage for samurai first then attack speed, Health shouln't even be capped, For spear guy, Dmg - Armor - Hp .. But you probs won't get to cap any of his stats.. Just try like 4 dmg 3 armor 2 hp or so. Was easy for me doing this method, Goodluck.

Is this intentional? If you die, you don't keep the exp or silver you collected. So, if you can't beat a boss because you don't have the right upgrades, how is beating the game possible?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm not sure if this is intentional, but I've found that if I restart a stage while playing hard or nightmare mode the difficulty drops down to normal for the remainder of the campaign.

Let us heal in the middle of battle... I have no clue how much health you think that we have, but we don't have that much
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Please allow our assistants to attack the daimyo even if we go down. I had him down to ten health and died. one assistant was dead, but my brute was still alive. With full health. I lost so much for that.

Great game. I beat it on my 2nd try by changing my strategy a little. Nightmare was not so hard, finished it twice in 6 tries. With nightmare, I tried to face the first Daimyo with enough clicks to have the exp for two companions right away.

I have a weird bug. When I start the game and click on the first map, I'm stuck here with this screen : http://tof.canardpc.com/view/66ba5d43-d671-44b1-8fa5-07edb6c89064.jpg
So I just can't play the game (tested on firefox & chrome, but I don't think it's relevant in a flash game)

Ridiculously difficult and if you can't beat a level, you're just F*cked. Because you can't even spend hours grinding up. You're as capable now as you will ever be. So if you can't beat it now, 100 times later won't be any different. Unless you are unholiably lucky. 1 Star.

Good game. I like the concept of picking the order that you attack the provinces having an impact upon the other ones. I'd love to see a less complicated game where you get rid of the upgrades/silver stuff and just focus on things like the optimal order to attack. Like the old megamans.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Also, you make VERY little silver for having to rebuy upgrades. Or rebuy exp points. Or heal yourself and not your companions. I just think there are so many little ways that this game could be balanced, without taking away the challenge. Maybe extra exp for not fighting any mook battles before the Daimyo. Or extra silver for finding all the mountains. Stuff like that.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Also, it's not really minesweeper. in Minesweeper, all tiles give you hints about the next. This one just has you pray you find the footprints early.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This game is more than just challenging. You either A: Hope to find the Daimyo fast, but then have to face all his mooks, and die quick. Or fight them before you fight him, and hope you don't die. OR you fight them and heal, and waste clicks. And not only do you lose those "permanent" upgrades," but you lose your exp, silver AND your score.
I think there's a little TOO much going on. Either don't lose the silver and EXP, or don't lose upgrades, or allow for grinding. 1, or even 2 of those, would make the game more enjoyable.
And wanting to make it more challenging is great, but isn't that what the hard and nightmare modes are for?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
this game is bad. i liked it at first but i have restarted the game twice. I get all the way to the end with out dieing and now im on the the 26 death of my first restart.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I really liked this game, not sure how so many people are having problems on normal mode. I used most my clicks in the levels searching for mountains/mooks. Upgraded only my samurai and left the companions bare. By the time I got to the Shogun I had cleared half the map and started fighting him solo with all my companions alive and 3 shadow versions. He died within seconds.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The major issue I have with this game is not being able to replay previous stages to gain more exp etc. so basically you're screwed if you didn't train enough in previous stages.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
After spending my experience apparently poorly and trying (and failing) to defeat the Shogun 6 times, I left. Sorry, 3/5. Giving the option to train, somehow, at least on the easiest mode, would probably get a 5/5.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So... I ran out of clicks, so I bought an extra click (market). It is still saying I have no more clicks left.... Glitch... Needs... Fixed... I wasted 15 silver on it.... .____.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
great game, took a few tries to figure out the limits of the samurai, other than that there are a few upgrades that really help ( won't name names but think passive and flexible ) once you have that sorted, even nightmare is easy. got 374000 on it, A+. though if there were more booby traps around my playstyle would change. with 3 lying around in a large map, i still click as i please, exposing as many "adjacent tiles" as possible. maybe traps to dealing a bit less damage, but consuming one more of your clicks?( as you struggle out of the trap)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So i have to keep doing the same province over and over, without making any progress, and just hope that by some act of god that I win this time?
