Couple things. 1.) Permenant upgrades are LOST when you lose on the level you bought them. 2.) The footprints lead towards the boss. Don't just click randomly. 3.) As Nerdook said, kill as many mooks as is practical. That alone will make the final fight much easier. 4.) Watch your health, watch your turns. I always made sure to buy upgrades at the end of a stage when I had already found the daimyo and wasn't worried about losing. Hope that helped!

I like this game. Usually I don't like games that don't have the option to grind when you can't progress further, but I didn't find it that difficult. Maybe I got lucky, but I didn't plan anything. I just got the upgrades that sounded good. I won with only two defeats. Maybe it's just me, but the game didn't seem that hard. Please don't rate this down if you disagree with me. I am just expressing an opinion.

Game is fun and not as impossibly challenging as people are saying. The only problem I ran into was not finding the daimao in time.... then I learned that you just have to follow the footprints by going one block in the direction they show. Find daimao, kill mooks, hit up some rice patties, and only buy permanents. I found that daimaos go down FAST if you hit super slash the instant they appear, too.

Stuck. To beat the next daimyo, I'd have to level up. But to level up, I'd need experience, and to keep my experience, I'd have to beat the next daimyo ...

seems unbalance going from ok this is doable to HFSWTH in one round. seems that if you don't select the upgrade that you the dev had in mind and the order you think it should be done there is no hope. I'm not interested in the badges and at this point not interested further in the game. this should have waited on badges. not being able to upgrade and try again rather ruins it.
2/5 as is with some rebalancing, addition of better upgrading 4/5

Wasn't a big fan of this game. I usually like Nerdook games but the luck based gameplay and no permanent upgrades made the game more frustrating than fun.

great game but i still cant seem to find out how to beat the last one. i replay this move over 10 times n nothing. i did come close to less than 300HP on Daimyos b4 i die :/

the trick is to realise your mercenaries are useless. just buy the upgrades for yourself in both xp and silver. only when you max out yourself then buy mercs. and always save at least 70 chakra for the boss so u can super slash him the moment he appears. i got through all 3 modes like this.

Oh, I see. The reason my upgrades were disappearing is that, if you lose a province, you lose all the upgrades you bought while playing it. That sucks *hard* because it means that bad upgrade choices early on completely sink you -- you can't grind levels to earn back the money you wasted on stuff you shouldn't have bought (but bought when you didn't really know what you needed). Instead, you just get stuck in a position where your party isn't good enough to win the later levels and your only option is to completely restart the game. I'm sorry but that's seriously shitty game design. Come on, Nerdook. You can do better than this.

Expert tracker is a waste of 75 gold. If you follow the footprints correctly(skip three spaces out in front of it), then you can get very good click yields without it. Also, the footprints always turn towards the center when they turn, and daimyos never are in blocks with mooks. So, if you are three spaces out and have no footprints, the daimyo must have turned towards the center, and there are only two spaces he could have turned on. Pick the one closer to the center(checks for turns on the other line) and continue tracking.

I've bought Regeneration at least once and Mercenary Armour at least twice and they keep disappearing, despite being 'permanent upgrades'. WTF?

btw - im not good at most flashgames - but still i found rhis very easy, but sometimes to random to find a boss -> 9/10 -> 4/5

found a bug: i ran out of clicks -> i bought "time" two times for getting a total of 2 additional clicks -> it said i had two more clicks, but i could not click anything, where i have been before. bad for me: the only clickable option was defeating the last boss, so i can't say if it is even buggy after joining a fight. nice game though ;)

You know what's great about this game? Restarting it over and over and OVER again until you find the right combination of upgrades. =/

Tips for upgrades and exp usage: Companions are mainly for catching arrows and distracting mooks, so unlock them, but don't waste exp on their stats unless you have spare points (getting merc armor for them is an option if you have tons of silve, but there are higher priorities). Your important unit is the samurai. For samurai: stat priorities in order: health, damage, attack speed. Most important upgrades are Expert Tracker to maximize click yields and Multi Strike to kill multiple enemies with each attack. Then focus on battle upgrades like bamboo armor, focus: slash, focus: chakra, daimyo hunter, souldrinker. Even with careful planning you probably won't have silver for much more than that, but it's enough to see you through normal and large parts of hard without getting beaten.

Idk if it is just me that this is happening to...but every once and a while the skills that i buy disappear and i have to re-buy them.

Tips for tracking down the Daimyo: Buy the expert tracker skill early, it saves a lot of clicks, which means you can choose between turning leftover clicks into exp or silver. Leftover clicks after beating a Daimyo are converted to exp, but uncovering mountains and beating mooks in the field yields better silver returns. If you find the boss early, you can prepare for the fight and the choice between more exp or silver is yours. TRACKING: Footprints don't always point in the direction of the boss, they show his "path". With expert tracker, you can see footprints in neighboring tiles. Once you found footprints, click a few tiles ahead in the same direction. You'll either uncover more tracks in that direction or you'll find the turns the daimyo took. When you click a tile and uncover footprints, but there are no turns or new prints in the direction they point to, the Daimyo is on that "empty" tile.

the game is honestly annoying, i get you wanted it hard but the fact there's so many upgrades you can get but only a few will actually help you win makes the rest kinda worthless what is really needed is a small amount of exp and silver kept even during losses, even if its 10% of what you earned it at least gives you the option to grind out a bit.

How I beat the game: bought the 4 companions as soon as I could, with the spare xp I bought health for the samurai. Once I had all 4, I started buffing damage and attack speed of the samurai. Buy the Chakra upgrade, that's a must, and also get yourself the ultimate strike thingie upgrade, then try to save it till last battle (you will obviously have spare energy since it only costs 70, so upgrade and spam your dagger throw). Basically, buff up your samurai after getting the 3 companions, and try to play on survivability.
ANother excellent game by Nerdook, 5/5. :D

Best way to clear everything on normal:
start in the provence most to the east, and work your way to the west. Keep as many clicks in each provence as possible, preferebly around 10. Don't get yourself a buddy, except the Brute. He is the only one that is able to survive.

I have finished most of the games on this site, but the freaking 15 point badge is eluding me. "Generally, any (permanent) upgrades will let you win."
Not in my experience: I have tried both buying the low end upgrades and saving up for the high end upgrades. I try to fight the mooks as they come and save heals for later in the round. I'm still just not able to win the next to last battle reliably and the last battle still hasn't happened.
I'm sure there *is* a combo that works, but I sure haven't found it.

well actually i was delighted by the game and have also been waiting for a long time for another NERDOOK game so it was awesome but nonetheless i have to agree with the others that this game is a bit too difficult
