This game is WAY too grindy - especially with the absurd scaling of the upgrades. There are a few things that would make this game better: more skills, including ones that allow balls to break blue bricks, blue bricks counting separately for bonuses and giving a bigger bonus, killing skellies giving more points, scaling down on some of the upgrades' costs, and three different coins, each one giving a different bonus amount, with the bronze (current) the most common and giving the amount it currently does, silver (a little more rare) giving a higher point amount, and gold (rarest) giving an even higher point amount. Another thing that would be AWESOME is an expensive, but early-unlocked (after, say, 30 waves, not 50-70, like certain ones) that increases the amount of each thing you start off with each run, but never going higher than 1 below your cap. Something like odd levels giving +1 to balls and shots, and even levels giving +1 to all.

Fun but nothing really encourages extended play. Once you get the basics down, it's nothing more than repeating until you maximize upgrades. Add to that the same field constantly and it becomes visually boring. Solid but could do better with what it has than it does.

Darches2 it's kongregates stuff, once War Metal Tyrants tag "Vampire" was created, and it, with 3 others, went down to -989 like, or -976. It's an inside job. Probably. And you might've known this.

Fun but grindy, gave up around the 90s, and do the skulls really have to take ALL your charge? That's incredibly annoying. 3/5

I hate to say it but for this game it is actually very helpful to watch the ads to get the money doublers as it cuts down on grind time quite quickly.

in the tesla fight, you gotta shoot the skull bricks broken(i recomend Always firing when only half is visible) while juggling a ball so it gets charged by both the blue and orange square, then let him eat the ball. he eats all your balls and drains your energy at start so charger upgrade is reccomended

The game play is polished, original, and fantastic all around. It's interesting that compared to other games of similar format, getting your ball stuck up above a row of solid bricks so that it bounces up and down and takes out tons of bricks quickly can be a huge disadvantage in the very early game. The issue with the game being grindy, in my opinion, is a combination of the large number of playthroughs that are necessary after a while to continue to purchase necessary upgrades and the fact that those upgrades don't speed up the early game. The moment that I decided I'd played enough was when I was back to bouncing my single starter ball up and down in order to earn the power for my second ball and I realized how much I didn't want to go through that part again. Still 5/5 for an amazing game with some balance issues.

I like the grind. I can just space out and watch the moving things. For a fairly quick-moving game graphically, there's surprisingly little sense of panic or adrenaline. It's almost meditative.

I was enjoying this game, but after I got a bunch of balls I got really nauseous from moving the paddle back and forth so much

@mateo0802: there is a blue and orange light in the background. One of your balls has to hit both spots (the ball shines in the colors it has hit). When the ball acquires the power of both the blue and the orange light, it has the might to damage Tesla (the spider thingy). When you damage him 3 times, you win. If Tesla eats your ball with 0 or 1 light activated, it simply devours it without getting damaged and you have to launch a new ball

The Double Coin Ads help, but it's not the solution for the grind. Two easy options are a stronger coin drop (like silver/gold coins worth more) or just making the skulls also give money. Both are easy enough to implement.
Here's a good way to look at it: Upgrade games usually allow you to complete the game with ~75% Max Upgrades, maybe a little less if there's an endless mode. I beat Tesla after collecting 48,000 points. I tried to max each upgrade one by one, and to max out completely, you need AT LEAST 305,848, and there were three upgrades I couldn't max, so you probably need more. The average complete run gives you under 5000 points, under 10,000 with Double, so no one is ever going to max out. There's just no reason to grind that long when you can beat it so much earlier.

@ootter88 Grindy and hard are two entirely different things. It's grindy because you have to replay the same extremely easy parts over and over at the same pace in order to reach the higher levels to make the cash to upgrade. That's the grind... It's not difficult - it's boring. I don't see anyone complaining about how difficult it is or how to beat it, just folks saying that repeating the same content two or three times in order to score a single upgrade is not fun.
To put it another way: In order to get the hard badge, you wind up completing the medium badge dozens of times. Not in new interesting ways, but in the exact same way, over and over again.

people are saying it's to grindy... people.... it's not that bad... I watched roughly 10-12 ads gave the maker a few cents for doing that and I had beat the game... it's legit not that hard... after you start getting toward the 30's just start going back and fourth and click... pick up all the coins... nail a majority of the skulls... 2 or 3 times past 20 and you're close to golden...
skills as follows to beat the game
+5 balls +6 shots +3 ball power +8 shot power
+17 overcharge (a little over kill there lol) +5 charge shot + 3 charger.
after you get to the battery upgrade spawn all your balls first with the energy then start with the ball power upgrades.
then a 6 or 7 shot powers then almost all your number shots. you can get ALL of that before you hit the first blue wall... every time... with just one in charger... It's not that bad honestly...

nice twist on the breakout game genre, but as many people here said already: needs a way to get more points to spend on upgrades later on, possibly by adding a multiplier to the points obtained for each skull killed or an upgrade to gove u a flat multiplier per level. also needs checkpoints, playing through all the waves gets pretty tedious after a while. u could for make checkpoints for each 15 waves and let players choose at which of the unlocked checkpoints they'd like to start, one would forfeit any upgrade points gotten for the previous waves though. 3/5, but only because i very rarely rate full 5/5 and because of the overly huge amount of grinding necessary

Oh I forgot to add 1 +1(for not having multiple energy bars to play, multiple monetary units, some exchangeable with the non-pay money, but just to be sure that there is something that cant be gained "for free" even after years of grinding, and that there is no city to build, even though the main game has nothing to with city building; thanks for being different from other recently badged games)/5

Grindy, forces me to watch adds about pay2play game so bad I actually could not get its badge. Forces me to play same game again and again, cannot skip. The earning mechanic is linear, even more grinding. Impossible to win without grinding, no matter how good you are. Nice noice. The game has a great idea, but there is useless grinding that forces players to watch adds.

Well, no matter the browser, at best I can only see the blocks, the balls' shadows, the skellies and my own bullets, nothing else: at activation, I can't see anything new coming. All the same, the game was fun and I played it anyway.

Nice spin to a classic game. The game ran nice and smooth. I especially enjoyed the new addition of keeping the screen still. I just wish there were some music to go along with the game. Also, I wished the items in the shop were a little less expensive; it made the game drag on way too long. Otherwise, I applaud the effort.

Man, it is quite a bummer when you accidentally miss one about 100 waves before you should. That 4 minute period during the beginning where you're just charging up is so boring.

just died on boss like 7th time, still dont know how to kill him and half the time didnt know how i failed. reaaaaaaaaly stupid i have to start over with literally no time save, could probably survive 3x wave speed with balls running normally, but its not an option :( like the idea but i prefer time sink and not time waste.

pretty fun... but waaaay to grindy. also not being able to see the whole board at a time is super annoying... would like to have the frame set and just move the paddle. i hat missing one all the way on the side just because i couldn't see it.

defeating tesla nets you about 3,000-5,000 gold (before doubling), and takes about 6 minutes. level 8 charter costs 128,000 gold. thus buying this upgrade would take me about 13 hours of continuous grinding. whee.

needs a checkpoint system or overhaul of prices. the game isn't challenging at all you just replay the same segment dozens of times to farm enough gold to advance. there is no content so it's artificially dragged out by out of whack prices and forced boring grinding.
